Anything i can do to spice up my GT5 game

Having played GT5 from day one i am now getting a little bored with the seasonal's and have completed single player mode.

Online is fine if you can find or host a room where there are no idiot's screaming down there microphone's.


Things i have done to try and get back into GT5.

Bought a 3D Monitor and tried playing again in 3D mode fun for a short time.

Tried starting a new game but found with having the Stealth,Chrome and all the DLC cars its far to easy.

I am thinking of getting a steering wheel but unsure if it will get me back playing GT5.
 
  1. Buy a wheel. GT5 was dying for me too, but when I bought a DFGT about a week ago I renewed it for me.
  2. Buy a random car, give it some basic upgrades, and take it to the Nordshliefe and constantly try to get better and better lap times. Once you reach the point where you can't go faster, get another car.
  3. If you want to go to a room without mics, host a room and disable mics.
  4. Have you tried photomode? If you don't enter the comps, try it out. It is very easy to get into.
  5. Do you have every car? Not including DLC/unattainables, make it a goal to get every car in the game.
 
I say option 3 its fun, it will help you if your having problems in the licenses. Also do you have all golds? Are you Platinum (all trophies), Lv.40?.

But hey all games get boring. And GT5 Seasonal events are like the weather in GA if you dont like it stick around it will change.

Also you can become a Tuner/Test Driver for some team.
 
I'd say try out comfort softs or sport hard tires (if you're used to racing tires) on some steet cars and try turning off ABS (set the brake balance at 4-2 or 3-1).

But you dont have a wheel yet so I'd focus on that first.

Ah, yes, this! 💡 If you are interested (@ OP), I could hire you as an unpaid official test driver for my tuning garage.
 
Go play something else! The last thing we need on this forum is someone who's forcing themselves to play GT. Things never turn out well.

If you really do want to get back into it, get a wheel, it's re-learning how to drive! You'll get at least a few months out of it, but can be endless amounts of enjoyment.

Get a wheel and learn to drift. It will keep you busy, and it's a lot of fun.

100% agree. If i don't have a wheel i wouldn't be playing GT5. No joke. Plus it is the best way to play GT not with the piece of you know what unrealistic controller
 
Start a 400pp race league. It's more about fun that set up
 
1: buy a wheel
2: join a racing league (check out WRS/3D3 racing)
3: race from cockpit in 3D in arcade mode with ABS off.
4: get a buttkicker gamer 2 or a more advanced tactile setup. Holy crap it's awesome.
 
I came up against the same brick wall, so try playing the game without ever once using a stealth or chrome car. Also try playing with just buying the one car at the beginning and only using prize cars. Sure there are some races you can't do, but only using prize cars and not being allowed to buy anything but the first car makes it more of a challenge. Worked for me.
 
Buy a wheel and join WRS/3D3, you WILL be hooked again....

Just not enjoying the game anymore as much as I did.
I finished all the events (except Nurb 24h) twice and spent a lot of time taking different cars around the Nordscheleife and Rome for Time Trials.
Seasonals do not really bother me, as I hate to drive those generated tracks.

I was looking for an "excitement factor" in the game, but it wasn't there.
Have to admit I thought about buying Forza or Shift 2 instead, as they have some kind of vibe, same as Grid had... I would like that vibe with GT's realism.

May be I should start to pick up drifting.
I'm a really bad drifter, but I think that is a lot of fun when I learn how to.

Now my playseat and G25 are just standing there doing nothing... shame :guilty:
 
In that case, do the N24.
I'm level 31 and there is so much to do, I'm not stopping anytime soon.

I am on my 8th GT5 career on 8 different accounts. I have done A-Spec 100% ligeit (using cars that are in the same class/same power even sometimes lower power as the AIs)

I have done the nirinburgring 24 hour race 7 times so far. I try to beat my personal record each time I do it. This time I am going to try to beat my last personal record of 26 hours. I do the race straight through on my racing wheel (DFGT). It's so fun.

Definitely do it. I only really play anymore for drifting after driving with my DFGT got boring. It took a few weeks to hold a drift, a few months to transition, and after that it's a constant learning curve to become smoother and better overall. It's so rewarding, and I recommend that over any races. Drifting is purely about fun, and that's what makes it so addicting.

Try out the drag racing scene. Im a pro dragger and its a lot of fun to run cars down the strip at indy. I have also learned a lot of tuning tricks while drag tuning cars.

In the WRS/3D3 you decide yourself when you race the TT's. There are also multiple events on different days, up to you to decide when you like to race...
 
Buy a fanatec wheel and buy forza 4, this way when gt5 gets a little dry you can play forza 4 and have the best of both worlds
 
I joined a Nurburgring room that was any car with collisions set to off. It was an interesting change of pace,like a time trial with a group of different cars. It was nice to see a wide variety of lap times and if you wanted a slow car it was no problem as the others could ghost on through.
 
Take part in the Car of the Week thread! Review some stuff and spend time driving those cars you skipped by the last couple of years.
 
A steering wheel would get you playing for sure. GT5's on another level compared to a DS3 on a wheel. You can drift, join a league, take photos (trust me, it really changes how you view GT5 afterwards, as you start noticing the tiny details PD put in GT5) :sly:. Or you could just take a car out to try and beat your time at your favourite track. At least that's how I entertain myself in GT5 from time to time.
