I suggest that tapping the brakes as you land off the second jump is EVEN MORE effective than tapping them before going over it.

Actually I remember braking mid-air as this game tries it's hardest to not let cars get airborne so I don't think they considered about cars braking mid-air despite it being not possible in real life.

You could brake at the end of the jump, but it was easier just to pick and choose where I wanted to brake instead of waiting for it to land since it could easily crash if you were braking while turning at that point.

Ah, I finally got a decent run with the Corvette. T1 wasn't very good, but the rest was overall pretty good for me (certainly not perfect). I hacked over half a second off the finish, but it really should have been more; I didn't do the ending too well. I may have to give jmgyro's 280 a shot... I've only considered 290. Anyway, 26.590 - 1'04.216.

Sneaking in here with some 'Vette times.

T1 27.417
T2 1'05.611

280 gearing gave 26.403 - 1'04.135: I gained about .2 in sector one, lost it all by the last right-hander, and then gained all of the .2 back in that turn and the final chicane. I've seen components of a lap to match or slightly better jmgyro's insane times, but haven't yet managed 1'03.xxx at T2. Frustrating!

I've done some improvement each direction.

current splits

GT40
T1 17.369

T2 55.937

C5R
T1 26.643

T2 1'04.933

C5r -- 29.764 / 1'13.953

Nice to see you in here, George. 👍

I made another run this morning in the Corvette -

27.179
1:05.367

Picked up nearly a second at the line. I see a little left out there, but not a lot.

EDIT : Found the little. :dopey:

27.305
1:05.318

EDIT : Found the LOT.

26.775
1:04.746

I lost some on the finish here, but that T1 has been rare, I had the perfect Early Apex on the first corner on this one, and avoided wheel spin until the last turn before the final chicane. :ouch:

Going to work on the GT40 now. 👍

This will be my final splits for the Bonus round. EDK, I will PM all splits together.

Times submitted

Gave the GT40 and C5R last guick go around the track
and ended 0.05 slower in GT40 and 0.2 slower in Vette.

First laps with Vette and to me it feels like the car is dragging a anchor around the track.

C5R
stidriver --------------- 27.198 / 1:04.967

Well, less than 21 hours to the deadline of the last ARCAT race. I managed a little faster time in the GT40 with slower splits so I'll let my time on the board stand. "Submitting" my times now. Good luck to all. 👍

Times submitted.

GL all.
Thanks EDK for a great ARCAT Series  see you at the next one ;)

No significant improvements from me, knocked off 0.054 at the line for the GT40 despite a 56.8xx split that's slower than the 56.7xx I posted before.
Got down to 1'05.2xx for the 'Vette but only 0.2xx quicker at line.

Sorry for lack of complete times, just recorded laptimes for submission, and I'm not really a danger to anyone in the podium spots this week anyway! Got to quickly grab the laptimes after trying to run a clean enough MX5 Cup race all evening, but I've got to go to bed now as I'm off on vacation tomorrow.

Submitting now! Good luck in the final standings everyone, and thanks again to Kevin for 6 excellent races!!!

Submitted - no improvement (actually no running since last post :grumpy:)

This was a great series - lots of fun 👍

Didn't have much time to spend on this one. Submitting my original splits.

It's been an awesome race series, Kevin! Enjoyed every combo! 👍

Lookin forward to the Beamers!

OK - Results are up in the second post, with plenty of commentary from me at the bottom.

Thanks for being a great and supportive group of racers!!

Those are a bunch of fantastic times in two cars that were really difficult to drive! Congrats to jmgyro (again), stidriver (again), and EDK for the top three spots, and of course to everyone else that didn't color the narrow walls with yellow and blue paint! jmgyro had an unbelievable time in the 'Vette that I could only dream of nearing - my best was 1'21.432 on that one. I eked out a 1'23.830 in the GT40.

EDK, thanks so much for letting me post in here. It was a lot of fun! Hopefully I can get an AR Max in time for the BMW series.

Kevin my time was submitted on Sep 29 2008, around 2:30am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK - I've received your PM and I did send a PM to you before the deadline yesterday, as I thought I recalled seeing a submission from you, but I do not have it.

I'll get everything sorted out tonight. Guess it's just too many PM's to manage. :guilty:

EDIT : Just glancing at this, it looks like this is going to impact 2 things in the overall series standings -

Drew (2k2 Z28) Will lose one point, which will put him in a tie with Kenny (01GTP). I stated up front that the warmup results would be used as a tie breaker. Since Kenny completed the warmup and Drew did not, he will move ahead of Drew on the board.

Marooned will move ahead of Jerome (Jump_Ace) in the final standings.

I'll get the revised official sheets and my replays up tonight, along with checking any remaining replays. 👍

 EDK you really have overdone yourself making this series a great success 👍

I kind of had a feeling that I would end up 3rd in the final results after week 3.
Heh, do I actually need to get the replay about the Bonus Race from my memorycard?

And here's the irony: I newer got a podium place in actual races and
now when I do, it doesn't affect the results enought to make a difference

Not that I would be too lazy to get the replay,
just that I wouldn't like to bother anyone to check it
as the replay is in PAL form.
If someone volunteers to check it I can post it thought.

Please post the replay to make it available and keep everything on the level. 👍

I won't make it a point to have it checked in order to make things official, but I would like to have it posted here since it's been a requirement for the series. 👍

Congrats again on your strong finish overall. I tried to dig out of the hole I created for myself in the first 2 weeks, but I just could not catch you. If I had managed 3rd in both events this week, we would have been tied and my place in the warmup would have put me in 3rd. So it was close. :nervous:

Allright, here's my replay:

OK - Here are my replays, and going to check stidriver and jmgyro's now. 👍

Sorry - Not sure which one of these is which. :dopey:

EDIT :

Wow guys, I was really improessed by all of your replays. 👍

But the GT40's in particular. jmgyro, you nailed the section around T1 and the railroad tracks until the backstraight.

stidriver - Your run was sooo smooth, I wasn't sure it was even the same car.

Great runs guys, in the vettes as well, but the GT40 runs did not look nearly as manic as mine felt. 👍

Thanks guys, for running in here, showing us how it's done, with the racing, the replays, and how you conduct yourselves all around.

Modified results sheets that include Marooned in the last race are posted. 👍

EDK your replays are clean and green.👍

Thanks on the GT40 lap. I did find the problem I was having a Laguna. The controller had a small crack in the steering joystick.

Thanks for the check, and glad you found the problem. 👍

Heh, I have this same problem on my DS2.
The left stick points slightly to up-left.
It can be tilted so that it stays straith, but it likes to start affect after
quick checking the replay (L3).
