The Suzuki was really an interesting car :) Got 7th in qualifying, with a french who was a league of his own (in fact he won easliy, no twist in this story :P)
But me............got a fantastic duel with a spaniard for 4th place.............which became for 3rd when an arab crashes out (maybe a nudge from the german who was with him, need to watch the replay that I saved :irked:)
In the end I managed to mantain, got 3rd and 193 points :sly:

Started 10th with time that matched what I had in practice (52.8 I think), finished magnificent 5th. Lap 1 guy devastated me from the back in turn 5, spun, and I was dead last. Didn't expect much from the race so did not rage quit. After that I had pretty calm race. Basically people crashed and burned in front of me and I kept it 100% clean. 100+ pts. Hardly my favourite car or track so all good.

Holy smokes, we were in the same race!!! Whaaaaat!? 😯
Yep. You got taken out by that French guy on lap one, I had to deal with a Spanish guy who was being an absolute penis to another Brit (edit: actually that was also you  ) and slammed me into the wall (for which I got a 1s penalty) trying to pass me in the middle of the final sector kink on lap eight. I might have absolutely destroyed him in the final hairpin...

I was actually having a decent end-race, as I was lifting and coasting to get regen while the four cars ahead of me seemed to be out of battery. If not for the collision and the penalty I'd have been 7th or 8th. Did my best lap on the last one

No, I remembered you for the very interesting name of course 😆, I know we were close at one point. Just watched replay to see what happened and yea, got you clean on lap 2, you braked a bit too late. 13>11 for you.

Wow, this is amazing, what are the chances for this! So cool. 😁

Apologies to Her Majesty for my subpar performance in the Nations Cup. Qualified 5th and survived the first corner mess, but ran wide at turn 4 and the pack swamped me. I don’t do well in traffic so made a ton of mistakes and lost loads of places. Recovered towards the end once things spread out to finish 9th.

Everyone ranked SR S but still full of weavers and rammers towards the back of the field.

Race was good but ultimately came to a bad end. Qualified P9. Got a good start and was P6 after the first turn. Had to go defensive for the next few laps and fell back to P9. But P8 wasn't getting away. Had a good clean battle with P10. However they tapped me into T5 accidentally. The held back as we got going again. However the dirty tyres let me down in T6 and I spun coming out of the long left. Had to reverse off the wall and was now P13. I managed to grab P12 in the left after the back straight on the last lap but it was a scant consolation. I liked the combo. The car was lively but never felt like going around unless mitigating circumstances. Race was clean too. Onto Monza tomorrow.

Well, that was interesting, started P2, got smacked into wall back to 14th, fought & clawed my way back up to 5th at least, thought about going again but nah, them SS tires are not made for that track

What are Gt3 and GT2 racing for? I know there are prizes for GT1 but I can't find anything in the agreement pre-race blurb.

For nothing AFAIK lol. Would love to see at least some credits thrown your way in participating in the series.

Just ran a grand slam when it counted most! Managed pole the race prior but couldn't piece it together, feel to third and then was spun to 13th by 4th place. I came back with a vengeance! :gtpflag: I don't know if I'll ever drive like that again! ~7 seconds ahead of second place. They kept me honest from lap one. Now the adrenaline needs to chill..

Nations Cup with the Suzuki VGT at Sardegna... did a few laps in TT with a rental car, with 51.1 as PB. Wasn't a great lap, seemed like 50s were possible.

CSA Slot 1, disastrous qualifying, was making ground up in the race, until I went wide in the tricky left hander in the final sector and spun... :banghead: Recovered from last, 7 seconds behind P15 to 13th at the finish, but obviously, decided to go again.

CSA Slot 2, again not a good qualy time. But this time, I was left wondering why. Lap wasn't too bad, but I couldn't go any quicker than mid 51. Were the track conditions slightly different to TT for some reason? Qualified P9.

Down to P10 after the start as I almost had to get out of the way of another guy to avoid a collision. Then, the Mexican ahead had a bad exit out of the long left hander starting S2 and I was able to make a move into the slower left hander, into P9, and immediately into P8 as another guy spun. I then managed to overtake a Chilean into the final corner, before being re-passed by the Mexican I overtook on the opening lap. He just poked his nose on the outside into the long left hander, had to leave him space and take a tight line, and he did a lovely cutback to get the inside into the following hairpin. Really nice clean move by the Mexican, I have to say.

That Mexican passed another one ahead, who I then overtook as well into T1 on lap 5, as he braked too late and went slightly wide. Now in P7, I was then under attack for a while by that Mexican and the Chilean behind, wasn't easy to shake them off. I finally managed to do it and break the slipstream, but also lost the slipstream to the Mexican ahead in the process. From there to the end, I was on my own, increased the gap to the cars behind to over 5 seconds as they continued to fight each other and managed to pass a Brazilian who made a mistake towards the end.

Finished in P6, scored 197 points. Not quite the 200 I would have hoped for, but honestly I don't think I could have done much better, so I decided to call it a day.

Slot 1: For the first time all season I was dumped into Top Split, and the race went about as well as could be expected: Qualified 14th, had absolutely no pace, finished 15th. I was running 16th on the final lap when the alien in 15th place gave up in frustration after having a miserable race, which was the only reason I didn't actually finish last.

Slot 2: In a slightly depleted Top Split, I was having the sloppiest qualifying I've had in a long time, including crashing out of the final corner and giving myself damage, ruining both my current and next flying lap. On my final attempt, I finally managed to not mess up and surprisingly set a qualifying time only a few hundredths slower than my FP time, good enough for 7th on the grid.

Once again in the race, however, I was pretty much hopeless. Not having the car in my garage meant I hadn't done any runs with fuel and tire wear before the actual races. That was also the case in the Rounds 1 and 3 of Nation's that I'd done so far, but for those cars (Civic TC and Porsche 919), it didn't drastically change their handling - it just made them a bit slower. With the Suzuki VGT though, the car feels far more reluctant to turn in, or to lose grip in the rear end. I'd gotten used to sliding the car around in FP, so it was rather difficult to adjust to a car that's more eager to understeer. For the first several laps, I'd lose a spot, then gain it right back as the person who passed me would get taken out or would make a mistake on their own. I eventually fell back to 8th, then got held up as 7th place failed to pull away and was in fact making the same exact mistakes I was. This dropped me down to 9th, with 10th also looking for a way past.

Starting the final lap, I was still in a 4-car battle for 7th place, running in 9th spot, when 7th place ran wide onto the grass at the exit of T5, promoting me back up to 8th as they nearly spun their car. Headed down the back "straight" in Sector 2, I opted to not defend from the car behind in 9th going into the hairpin, which turned out to be a very good call. 9th place went for the move, but out-braked himself and ended up shoving 7th place out of the way, allowing me to inherit the position. After having started the final lap in 9th place, I ended up crossing the line in 7th thanks to 2 very well-timed (for me at least) errors from my competitors. The 257 points was way more than I thought I would end up with given how awful my performance had been, so I called it a night.

Pretty sure you were in both my races, then.

First attempt was not great. Actually was held up a ton early and then I fell backwards. Second race had some really good moments. Might be the most fun I've had this year so far.

Well I’ve improved on my last place last week with a 3rd to last this week

Qualified 15/16 and finished 13/15. Boring race as was out of slip from car in front the whole race. Made one position after pit stops. Corvette is slow. Would have been really strong here in GTS.

I know from the comments that it’s not been the case for everyone but the driving standards have been great so far in these GTWS races. I guess it’s because most of the short attention span crowd/children gave up on this game quickly. I think I’ve gotten more clean race bonuses in this game in like 30 races than I had in GTS from 500. Always running the earliest time slot also helps probably.

Last night’s race in particular was incredible, I was in a higher split than usual (2nd split GT1 I think) so was woefully outclassed and never got above 10th place but even at the back everyone left room, no dive bombs, and everyone understood how side by side racing worked. Didn’t get pushed into the grass or the wall once.

Daily races, not so much. Just like GTS, they’re usually a mess.

Ran the Jag in slot 1 for Asia in the Manu series. Could not nail all 3 chicanes in a flying lap and ended up qualifying p15 of 16 in my slot.
Managed to gain 4 spots lap 1 to be p11 heading end of lap 1. Loads of people pit and I lap alone for a while. Pit end of lap 7 and come out back where I was, p11. No big drama. Slightly sloppy driving and as soon as the guy behind passes me on lap 10 he gets a penalty at Ascari and I'm gifted p11. I pass at Parabolica anyway to keep p11 on track.
Had @RX8 Racer in my slot as well but looked like the AWD cars were eating their own there. Totally in a different league from the rest of us on straight line speed. Garbage points somehow for the result, but a solid race so I'm good with it.

Next week’s Nations Cup should be interesting - Group B on comfort softs. Oh boy.

Decent going yesterday at the Suzuki VGT race at Sardegna A. Qualified P8 with a lap of 1.52.0, very close to best practice time. Race then, not a very good launch and I was on the outside into t1, down to P9. People sliding around and up to P7 start of lap 2. But then on same lap I get forced on a wide line on the final sharp left hander before the kink and I drop down to P12, and I am furious. It is chaotic though with the midpack battling ahead and I manage to make myself up to again P7 end of lap 4.

After that a quiet race, building gap behind and catching driver in P6 too slowly to be a factor. Until the P6 driver from Switzerland makes a few mistakes at the end of lap 14, up to P6 with a 1 sec gap after t1. I manage to hold on by 0,5 secs, P6 & 164 pts. Decent going, despite my total score did not improve. Looks like they changed the points calculation to best 2/6 rounds instead of best 4/6 rounds 🤔

Glad that over. I like Monza it’s a great racing track, but it must have some of the hardest corners. Every lap I make a small mistake at every corner.

Race 1 decent quali P4, got away well and was driving to the speed of the car infront on lap 1. P5 was going at full speed and by the 2nd chicane we was side by side. I gave them space and we didn’t hit, until lesmo 1. I had the inside line so had to brake a little more than normal but P5 didn’t even brake until after they hit me. Video below. I’m the AMG and they VW. Finished P12 in the end.

Race 2 I was pretty annoyed and really couldn’t be bothered to run again but had too. Quali P5. Just couldn’t hook a lap since last race. My braking points just seemed to be way off.
Again good start, racing the same speed as car infront, but closing in. Pitted on lap 1 to get clear air. Caught up to P16 by lap 4 and they decided they were going to try and race and block me. Lost about 4 seconds getting past. Managed to keep it clean and jumped P4. Lap 9 all the top 3 pitted and I was 1 second behind. Just didn’t have enough in me to past any of them.

So this the incident on race 1. I don’t feel like it was my fault but…. If I’m wrong, I’m in the wrong and maybe was my fault.

Edit: just watched it again now I’ve calmed down and it’s a racing incident. VW still in the wrong, and it actually looks like I could have recover until the corvette comes in. I have the replay saved so can upload other angles.

GTWS Nation's Cup GT2 tier (C Dr)
What a **** show qualified P4 first corner punted into the gravel never caught up after that I'll post a replay on YouTube to call out these ****** players who it seems just race to bash other people of the track

Pretty uneventful (but clean) race for me in the Vantage. Started 8th, ran 7th for most of the race in some clear air, a few secs ahead of the group behind. Couldn’t really close the gap to a Mustang and F-Type ahead. The Mustang pitted early and stayed ahead at the end, but I got the undercut on the Jag for 6th. A WRX won of course.
