Yeah they did, GT5P demo was available for a week or so last october, not to mention GTHD which is still available.
 
Wasn't that beta?

I can't be expected to remember last October given that it was the middle of exam period.

BECAUSE your opinion is FALSE. You REFUSE to accept (even consider) that GT5P is MORE than a DEMO. THUS making it NOT a DEMO.

GT5P has a beginning and an end. Does it not? I have NEVER seen a "demo" do that. Have you?

Demos do not have you racing races to buy cars to race more races and make more money to reach a climactic ending with something like a Formula One car in this case.

Not by a long shot! In fact, I bet you've grumbled at the price of those fried mushrooms, Vidalia onion rings, nacho platter, potato skins, cheese sticks, or even shrimp with some red dipping sauce. But, in the end, those appetizers were pretty tasty were they not? And then there are the soft drinks, which are not free either.


Same holds true for Prologue. You.....will.....get....what.....you....pay....for.

At this point, it appears you are beyond reason and looking to do nothing more than argue.

That's true. But to be fair how often do you use the word prologue in every day conversation?

There is a bit of deception here too. It's like "faux" pearls. Few people know what faux means.
 
It is a Demo, it's a demonstration of what the full game will be in 12 months time, when this demo starts and ends is irrelevant, how many cars or tracks it has is irrelevant also. It's still just a demonstration of a full game.

It is a demo that is chock full of features with many cars, tracks, and online play. However, it is merely a sampling of what will appear in the full game, thus a demo by the definition.

And all demos have a beginning and an end, or else they would never start and go on for eternity. I don't know what demos you have been playing, or what substances you were under the influence of while playing said demos...

I'm sure this whole argument has come out of the fact that everyone who refuses to admit that it is but a demo has to convince themselves that they are getting more for their $40 than a demo.

I however, can accept the fact that I will pay $40 for this demo.

Therefore I do know what I speak of.

Live for Speed has a demo. It has 3 cars and 1 track. That's a demo.

I've never heard of a demo with 5 tracks.
 
You decided to and bought it today? Wow same day delivery!!! Or did you download it? Don't tell me you actually paid $70 for a Japanese PSN card?

I have. It's called "Grand Turismo 5: Prologue". It's not too well known, so you might not have heard of it.

I'm gonna do a comparison:

Gran Turismo(PS1): Includes three cars to choose from and only one course. No other options are available.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue(PS3): While I don't own the game, What I've seen is that it includes aroun 70 cars and six tracks with two configurations each. Options Includes Drift Mode, Time Trial, and its online capable


Historically, all the racing demos I had before seeing GT5P would usually have about 2 to 4 cars available and not much tracks to choose from while the rest are "Not Available in Demo" and you didn't really win anything special. GT5P on the other hand, is structured like a full game, Rewarding your efforts with Money and allowing you to aquire more cars, something I haven't scene in any demo myself. So to my conclusion, GT5P is now beyond Demo. How many Demos do you see with this much content? How many demos actuallty reward you and allow you to aquire more stuff? and how many demos are online capable?To my memory, there is no such thing as a "Demo of a Demo" as that defeats the purpose of it being a demo. GT5P is in my veried opinion a "work in pregress" which doesn't necessarily mean Demo, but means it is constantly being improved on, futher moving it away from the stage of a "Demo". Now I'm not a nut job who thinks "OMG, Don't call it that!"(People like that seriously have issues), but by looking at how this is structured, I believe "Demo" isn't the correct word for this game.

Warhawk (the DL version) is a demo to the disc version then.

GT5P is a full game in and of itself. It has a beginning and an end. As with every other GT game, once you reach that end you can restart the game or keep earning money to buy more cars. Once you bought all of the cars, then you buy one of every color. The big difference between Prologue and the previous GT games is now we have online.

I have to disagree with you :)

Does not matter if it is Downloadable or not.. Prologue is a beginning, but in order for it to be a prologue, ONCE full GT5 comes out, you would need to have the original GT5P disc in order to play.

Just like a book. Most of the books have a prologue, a beginnings to the story and at the same time these books include both middle and end.

GT5P is only 1/5 or 1/6 th of a FULL game, thats why it does not has an end. If it had an end, that would be a full game.
Its really hard to explain, but Prologue is a DEMO.

Once FULL GT5 games comes out, It will have its OWN plorogue, the License test, the intro movie and so forth. That is a TRUE prologue.
 
Sorry guys, this is an absolute useless discussion! Demo, Introduction, Test, Beta whatever...who cares??? Most important is that we actually ENJOY this "whateveryoucallit"

A couple of factual things in your post you are neglecting. GT5P is a video game, not a novel nor a book. Secondly, GT5P is not a play nor a novel, nobody will be singing or monologuing anything.

I can call my cat "dog", but that does not make him a canine.

You can call a T-bone a steak, a New York Strip a steak, or even a 3 pound Rib Eye roast a "steak". But that does not mean it is by definition.

I understand what GT5P is. I think PD is taking creative liberty by attaching the term "prologue" to a video game.

I've never seen "prologue" in reference to movies.

Note and Comprehend: I stated its a direct qoute from websters dictionary and it really doesnt matter what you call it. The developers created a prologue I believe thats what it is. I didnt metion anything about a movie you must be confused with someone else's post. Please do not continue to embarass yourself by trying to correct someone who obviously has a comment based upon fact. I dont know what any of your comparisons have anything to do with an introduction or pre-game. Cats, dogs in steaks? Lets try to keep things relevant hear it already a simple minded conversation.

Just because they call it a Prologue so that people don't second guess the fact that they are paying $40 for a (very full featured) demo, doesn't mean it isn't still a demo.
 
I think for best of us. This thread should be locked.. NO one can agree with each other. We are going to argue here for a long time.. Just like two English teachers arguing aver definitions.
 
Its clearly stated what it is. It has more content than a few complete games in stores presently. Even if Yamauchi himself told you in person what it is you would probablly be still stuck on stupid mode. but like I said if you believe your paying $40 for a demo :dunce: more power to you. And good luck on figuring out how to turn the door knob when your ready to leave.
