Are there any American cars from the 50's?

There are only a handful of cars from ANY country in the 1950's in the game.
The '54 Vette is the only one from the US.
Now, Muscle from the 60's abounds!

Yes please vote for more 50s cars in the Feedback section. I have a number of 'wants'. Top of my list is a D Type Jaguar.

As for American cars from the 50's: If you go back and look, only the Corvettes were suitable for racing.
The T-bird was "sporty" rather than "sporting". If you read the accounts, when the T-birds were road raced, their suspension was so poor, and the cars so heavy that they regularly suffered from flat tires, due to the tire bead breaking away from the rim.

Cars not being "race worthy" isn't really a good reason to not have more 50's cars in the game. There are tons of cars less "race worthy". It is a DRIVING simulator after all. GT5 is a little short in historical American muscle department. If you want a large variety of detailed muscle cars that can be customized in every way possible, you may have to switch consoles (great 57 chev in there). Still, there is a fair amount in GT5 for most people.

Totally agree. One of the great things about this game and F4 is being able to drive a regular car just for fun or see how much you can tweak a regular car just for fun. Sometimes it's about just driving and not racing. Good or bad cars are a matter of opinion.
When F4 put a Ford Pinto in the DLC a couple of months ago, I had a pretty big grin on my face. A lot of players probably hate it but it holds a bit of nostalgia for me.

I feel ya! My high school girlfriend had a Pinto. One more reason I drove everywhere we went.

I agree that there are a number of historically significant cars missing.
Why put in the 6-banger Vette, and leave out the '57 feulie? Hell, how about a flat-head powered Ford coupe? '55-'57 Chevy? What about the Chevy 409? The max-wedge Dodge?
Unfortunately, being a Japanese game, we got a crap-ton of the more "interesting" Japanese cars, not so many American cars. You get what the developer knows, and can model easily.

It's always baffled me that the GT series has never included the '57 Chevy. I mean, has there ever been a more widely recognized American car? Practically every person I've ever known can identify one from any angle. Just seems like an automatic choice to me.

Rock: Totally agree. Probably one of the most iconic and recognizable cars ever. So glad it made it to F4. I took a couple of pics in game and I can't believe how incredibly detailed it looks.
