Are there any unique GT5 maps?

I don´t think so. Normally, it is called tracks or curcuits.

As far as original road courses go, GT5s tracks are awesome. There's a bit of everything. High Speed Ring is a fun, simple track to drive. Deep Forest is fun for people who like twisty circuits, Cape Ring has lots of fast corners, Trial Mountain has a bit of everything as does Grand Valley.

I'd fault the street courses though. They feel a bit too generic for me. Courses such as Rome, Madrid and London just feel too conventional compared to Amalfi, Aria and Hong Kong which really had a different type of character to them, they were fun and interesting tracks to drive around. I personally really like Tokyo R246, lots of really fast corners for a street circuit.

Out of curiosity, what's with the dislike for Cape Ring? It's a fantastic track, lots of flowing and exciting fast corners, some big braking zones for passing, banked corners and big elevation changes. It's by far GT's best original track. Sure, the jump and the loop are a bit unrealistic, but there's a jump at the Nurburgring too, and the loop is just part of a game.

Actually map is not a correct term. Map refers to a piece of paper which shows you the layout of the "Track" or in the gaming world the "map" is the part that displays in the upper left to show you where you are on the "track"

To put it another way the game could be played just fine without any maps but without any tracks would be pretty boring

Heck yeah! SS Route 11 was a beast. I never appreciated it until I tried that Special Stage Enduro on the original Gran Turismo which was up there with the Grand Valley enduro. I still remember the 1st time finishing them in my Castrol Supra it was so fulfilling. Especially since I hadnt encountered races of this kind on any other game.

Not wrong. I know what kind of map he is talking about. He is talking about the "TRACK" and calling it a map which is simply incorrect saying that it is correct does not make it so. Perhaps you should consult a dictionary.

Map is a term commonly used by users to refer to a game environment but again that does not mean it is correct. You drive on a track you refer to a map of the track for directions.

Just a pet peeve of mine that people find it acceptable to use incorrect words so often. "Tune" when actually meaning adding parts rather than actually tuning anything. "Car" when referring to an SUV or a pickup. "Map" when referring to a track or course. There are many more but the thing that bugs me most and the only reason I mention it at all is when people find it acceptable and actually go so far as to say this is correct.


btw Twin Ring Motegi is a real world circut as is Infineon so they do not qualify as a GT unique

Agree, could be my own words. When I think of a "map", I imagine a sheet of paper like you get, when buying Grand Theft Auto and look into the cover, where a big overview over the playable area is. Also map would be a total area of landscape, where a track is included.

I believe they are saying you are correct in using the term "map" but you will not here it from 99.99999999% of users.

I wouldn't use the term "map", like OP Title, but if I was speaking in German and was a native English speaking person, I might use the equivalent German word to get my point across.

I'm sure there'd be some German clowns telling me that wasn't the correct terminology though. :-/

IMO there are 3 good original tracks in Forza 3 and several lame ones. the good ones are Fuji, Maple Valley and Positana. Sidewiders and Benchmark are lame.

Sidewinder and Benchmark aren't really tracks in FM3. I mean, they're technically there, but they aren't actually included in any of the career mode events at all. They're just there if you want them... for God only knows what reason.

To the OP: just call it a track or circuit. They are better words to use when talking about a racing game.

Gran Turismo as a series has an enormity of variety and uniqueness. Several good tracks such as Tahiti, Seattle, Costa di Amalfi, Citta di Aria, Complex String have been in the series. Currently Cape Ring is the most unique, I absolutely love it. And despite others not liking the jump at the end of the spiral, I love it as if you're fast enough it's a real challenge to straighten up and break for that corner straight after. Could also vouch for High Speed Ring being a little unique thanks to it's banking and the fact it is very, very quick.
