I just don't want GT4 to turn into a rice-a-thon game.

You're the one playing, so if it's a "rice-a-thon' it was your choice.
If you don't like to 'rice' your cars up, don't.

I know that, and I'm not going to go down that road at all. It just seems that GT going down that road won't be GT. Maybe its just me.

i personly dont consider picking a larger size wheel as being ricey or some body stuff(to an extent) but like black95z28 said its your choice the option is there you dont have to use it

rim size is quite an important factor in racing I think. Usually stock cars have smaller rims and higher profile for comfort... but bigger rims provide a bit more stability with the trade off of higher weight.

I wouldn't mind at all having different sized rims... I'd love it if they even have different offsets... like u see the spokes curve in with low offset rims , which imo looks super cool

But anything over 18 inches on almost any car is just too much. Then you are just trying to be flashy.

What I hope they have in regard to wheels and tires tuning wise is tire pressure.... anyone know if we can change that... cause that has a huge affect on cars... PUMP THE REARS TO DRIFT!!... Thats how I did it in my Tercel at autocross... >_>

I don't really care about buying rims that, for example are like 20'. why would you want to that, besides just for show. the bigger the wheel the more time it takes to make on rotation. the extra waight it puts on the car. When you break all your doing is just adding momentum to the car, and that, makes the cars stopping leangth longer.

Sure its good, but i just want to race.

Well, if you use a light weight racing wheel, the lower profile tires have less sidewall give, which does help performance. But once you force the overall tire/wheel diameter to increasse beyond stock, you start to hurt the torque that gets to the ground, and its more rotational mass tha tneeds to stop.

However, what would be nice is tire width, whci makes a world of diff as well

well, tier size should definately be adjustable. it's nice to be able to make the rim biger and the tier of a lower profile, to maintain the same overall diameter but gain the benifits of a minimal sidewall. I agree upsizing is bad in general, but, being able to put tiers on your car that are wider would have greatly helped some of the cars in the game capable of way more power than stock. Did someone say Toyota Supra? Putting viper size wheels on that car (even if you did have to tub it first) would have really helped in putting that 1000+ hp to the ground. and at 695 hp, and more to the point, who knows how much torque, it most definately would have helped my Z28 as well.

I hope so. And I do want to be able to bodykit, paint, and decal up cars. It's always bugged me to have a car that looks stock running alongside a pack of JGTC cars.

In GT4 i'm curious if you would be to buy different size rims
I don't think it'll matter much. What on earth would it add to the game other than a way to waste your hard-earned credits?

Did you not read what I said?? If you could buy wider wheels, mount wider tires, you might find you have longer tire life, but a little less grip if you go too large. Conversely, because off the added friction of more mass per square inch of contact patch, you can improve traction on less than perfect courses (hence why rally snow wheels are narrow)

I feel that it would add a decent amout to the game.

But what would add more woudl be the damned tire pressure... its so basic, and yet does so much...

Ooooooh an extra inch of rubber! Yeah! With this I can pit less than the CPU in that big enduro and I can go on to win all because I have an extra inch!

I seriously doubt PD would get so technical. If rim size in any way affected performance it'd take a long time to program it and you know what that would mean: another delay. And that's the last thing we want.

I think one size is enough. I'd rather if another track or something constructive were added to the game instead of differing sized rims.

It'll be a nice add on if they have body kits and stuff like that. Not because i'm a ricer or anything but because you have to look good while going sideways. Then again if they don't have bodykits I really wouldn't care.

at least i think it would be nice to have an option of +1in. of whatever the original wheel is.

Since they have a number of SUVs in the game, they have to include at least 20 inch rims. Otherwise it will look ridiculous. Seeing that though, i think they're gonna stick with the old standard, which is making each car have a preset rim size. Which i hate.
