Do you retaliate to contact with contact?

I do sometimes wish we could put boxing gloves on our drivers after a race, then go K.O the bampot who t-boned you on the first lap.

That's a funny looking diesel Astra...

Is that what plod use these days? Luckily in latter life I've become invisible to them & haven't had the pleasure of being escorted to the station to take down my particulars in a good long time, & jolly well pleased about it to. :D
It was in the 2000s... Now BMW X5s aplenty, but here on the Isle of Wight we're ten years behind so we still see the old Astras. Easily outrun by the criminal weapon of choice - WRX STI, or back in the day, Evo IVs, Skylines, even a 205GTI stands a reasonable chance of being uncatchable on a British back road.

The local police have an unmarked Skoda Octavia which is no doubt their most capable pursuit vehicle.

I posted this little incident in the daily thread.

1st time racing this individual, and they do this on L1/T2 with no provocation whatsoever. How would you guys have dealt with this individual in the next race? There were no apologies after the race or anything.

Edit: I was at 29.5k DR going for DR/A mind you.

That was pretty obvious. He chose to sacrifice his own race to brake check you (likely because he thought you were too close to him in turn 1). IMO, he definitely gets the dirty tag, but I'd weigh the DR/SR hit before retaliating, but that would be my only concern. Also note, if you ram him off you'll get a 5 second penalty. That's important because the 5 seconds at the beginning of a race will put you at the back and will affect your DR AND SR because now you'll be in "general population", likely getting more penalties and taking more contact. It quickly builds up.

Before the race, give all the other players a friendly warning about the driver who likes brake checking. I imagine the brake checker's race will be...interesting...:mischievous:

(Probably not a good idea if you're in the same race though.)

What I'd do is take the reminder that some people still brake check and keep my eyes peeled for them. Always a popular tactic for the numpties back in the quick match days so we'd leave ourselves options to try and avoid them. By no means the quickest way to race but if you know someone's low enough to use them, you can be better prepared if they do. Breezing past their failed attempt is as good as showing them the middle finger.

Did you ask him after-race, pre-race or via PSN chat what he was doing there ? I'd always try to talk to these guys in one way or another.

Put simple, this is brutally annoying, especially on difficult and narrow tracks like Willow. There's no safe solution imo and nothing works repeatedly as a pro troll will immediately realize what you're trying to do and adapt to you.

Be prepared. Keep a safety distance. Watch and think.
I'd try to force him to one side of the track as much as possible to create space for my dodge.
I'd fake overtake attempts to keep him busy hoping for him to make a mistake.
I'd even fake losing a position to another car and watch them from a distance.
Drive against it, don't play penalty tricks or something.

There's one ( borderline ) trick I remember from Quick Match racing, I don't know if this still works however.
Does the car still go into auto mode and ghost when you press Pause / Options ? We used that sometimes to just go through and past such drivers and then unpaused to race on.

Anyway, watching your video I thought you really looked good avoiding him, Kaz should be proud of you  ...

No need to weigh DR/SR or retaliation from me. I checked no for the survey. I was pretty much done with the incident before I got the car rotated back towards the track. After I finally reset back on the track, my main concern was to try and finish the race before it timed out (gotta make goals in life :D).

Great advice, I definitely took a mental not of who it was. The very next race, I out drove him and finished I believe top 5 :sly:. And the next one after that I took the dub .

The break check caught me off guard (it came WAY to quick) and I wasn't paying attention to names at that point :guilty:

The next 2 races I had with him I just dominated him . Clean racing with no contact. Also got back to DR/A after the dub and called it a night.

Yeah Kaz would be proud

I very seldom do the sport mode events. When I do, I get them done and leave without any fuss. I have to say the majority of them have not been good experiences. I don't like ,multi-player online activities in games anyway. My opinion of humanity plummets every time I come in contact with them. GTS has unfortunately not been an exception. But no, I don't retaliate, though it's usually longer before I go back for more again.

It’s not just the people on track that can ruin your race.
This weekend I sent an irrelevant message to group chat for the Supra cup, while the race was on. This caused a distraction for at least one player in that group. @stpatty, I am truly sorry for that. I didn’t think of the timing due to large amount of booze. I know it’s not really an excuse so please remember kids, radio/message silence at all time during a race sessions. :nervous:

3-wide in the Supras at turn 2 of Willow Springs, a message about a barbecue pops up on the screen. At least I got a good result. Probably a good thing I don't have any pets or children, with some of the experiences I have playing GT Sport and Rocket League I'm sure they would have been on the end of a few kicks by now.
