I got into a discussion on another forum where I told the guy that I think that there are a lot of people worldwide who won't buy other racing games because of GT5.

So am I the only one who is not planning to buy titles like
  • WRC 2010
  • F1 2010
  • Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit
  • Ferrari The Race Experience
  • Nascar 2011
just because in my opinion, GT5 will be enough for me? I don't want do discuss whether those games are good or worth their money (because I know that some of them really are), I just want to know if you have lost interest in other racing games because of GT5.

I probably would have bought F1, WRC and this Ferrari game if GT5 wouldn't come out this year.
If you vote for "Other racing games", please name them ...I tried to think of all racing games coming out right now but I'm sure I forgot something

I'm not buying WRC 2010, Ferrari Experience thing and NASCAR... NFS I have to buy LOL, and F1 2010 I may buy

Why is NFS gone back to cop chases again? That's so 90's. So that's rulled out, TDU2 I might get but that doesn't come out til 2011, I wont be getting any of the other options on the pole either because GT5 will probably complete me.

I'm not buying any of them, irregardless if the GT franchise existed or not. I don't like games with cars in them, I like games where I can drive cars.

would I buy these games anyway ?

WRC::, Possibly but doubtful
F1 2010::, doubt it I detest those stupid voice overs in f1 games
Nascar 10::, Nascar 09 put me off these titles forever within 5 minutes, absolute garbage.
NFS:: Big fat No
Ferrari experience:: Ferrari challenge was poor so no plus they are now in gt5.
RacedriverGrid 2:: (if and when released) yeah

I might be wrong, but I remember reading NFS was splintering into a few titles. Shift is meant to be more towards sim-style gaming, while Hot Pursuit (and whatever titles it might get after) are more towards the Burnout-style arcade racer. Both fun in their own way.

As for the topic at hand...? Racing games? I don't think I'll be buying any games for a while after GT5's out.

I bought F1 2010 and I want to get the WRC game. I hope it is good. I don't really see the point in skipping games just because of GT5. Although F1 2010 is likely not going to be touched anytime soon once I get GT5.

The release of GT5 really has little bearing on my game purchases. If the racing game is good Ill be picking it up. Currently whats keeping me from purchasing a new racing game is that Im in the middle of building a new rig and I have no wheel(sold the G27 in favor of a GT3RSv2). When GT5 releases Ill more then likely be picking up F1 2010 and if there is no US release of WRC 2010 Ill be importing that as well.

The only other "racing game" I WILL buy, is iRacing 👍

That's a perfect mix of serious, less serious and very serious racing in my mind. ;)

Well, with the exception of financial reasons, I see no reason why should the release of a game prevent anyone from buying another in the same genre. Variety is a good thing.

I've bought F1 2010 because I wanted to have a F1 dedicated game for racing a complete season, whenever I want to.

I'll will not likely buy Ferrari Experience because it will be just a refreshed version (new 458 Italia and Fiorano track, added the DLC) of Ferrari Challenge. I have them (almost) all in Supercar Challenge which I will continue to play after 5th November.

I also intend to buy TDU2 in 2011.

I actually got F1 2010, but sent it back less than a week after owning it for a few reasons. One, it wasn't that interesting and I have F1CE which I enjoy a bit more. Two, GT5 is coming out and it's a waste of money to buy a game like F1 2010 when I'm sure GT5 will fill my racing fix.

I've not bought F1 2010 specifically because GT5 is now so close to release.

However, I joined iRacing a few months ago and fully intend on keeping my subscription to that going as well as enjoying GT5.

The WRC game and F1 2010 might have been interesting to me, and indeed I won't buy them because of GT5 release.

Although, at least for me, Shift was the farthest thing from fun...

And to answer the question, I probably won't be buying many games besides GT5 for a while since I'm kinda short on cash anyways...

I've picked up F1 2010 already and have been disappointed that under the gloss Codemasters have made some pretty fundamental mistakes [such as the timing!] ... i'll probably pick up WRC 2010 at some point although it can wait.

The other games I would have probably passed on anyways, irrespective of GT5's imminent release!

I'm only buying to pass the time to GT5, hoping F1 2010 keeps my mind off it for this last month. :)

Spent a few months in iRacing earlier this year, which absolutely rocks, but I don't have the best PC setup with Windows. Honestly I might go back some day as I love what they're doing, and they've got some awesome things lined up.

If GT5 lives up to expectations though I probably will not, I suspect it'll be a much better fit for me, a mix of simulation and fun.

No other games on my radar.

I'm re-playing all my games, because I know I won't touch them when GT5 is out. I might even trade all of them (Do not own many, 5 only) for GT5.
And yes, I wanted F1 2010, so bad. Could not get it at release (stores did not received them), but now I'm glad I did not.
