Are you skipping other racing games because of GT5?

I'm not going to buy ... just because of GT5

I bought F1 2010 because I wanted to have a F1 dedicated game.

I'll will not likely buy Ferrari Experience because it will be just a refreshed version (new 458 Italia and Fiorano track, added the DLC) of Ferrari Challenge, which I have already!

I will play F1 2010 until I get my mitts on GT5 👍

I will also get Rock Band 3 :)

I would have bought F1 2010 but I decided not to since I only have a month to wait until GT5, then F1 would'nt get played. The only games I forsee myself to buy in the next few months are GT5 and Dirt 3.

GT5 does not influence my purchase of any other racing game. Why would I skip another game because of GT5?

no, GT5's release wouldn't stop me buying another driving game if i fancied it

imo, putting all your driving eggs in the GT5 basket is bit iffy. variety is the spice of gaming life

of course, if you have financial constraints to consider, that's another matter

i'm pretty lucky in as much as i'm older (44), i've had a good steady job for a long time and i've a 20
year old kid still at home paying rent :D

don't get me wrong, i do feel that the GT series offers the best driving experience on console
but i like to have alternatives for when i get in a rut with it

it always feels great when i go back to a GT though, after a while on the others out there

I hasn't provoked me NOT to buy any other games, but it has provoked me to wait on more reviews from players on sites like this one and Reflex before I rush down to buy other games.

Ive had my fix of arcadey type racing games (burnout paradise, nfs etc), i bought f1 2010 this weekend, that should take me nicely to the first week of november!

I won't buy any games untill GT5.

If we had to wait longer for GT5 I would have bought both F1-2010 and WRC.:):)

Wouldn't mind WRC as long as it stays true to Rallying unlike Dirt. Would like to get F1 2010 but I have some money set aside for GT5SE, G25 and a racing seat 👍

I've got so many racing games on my shelves right now on 360 and PS2 that no, GT5 will not stop me from playing others. In fact some diddy studio in Washington state have hooked me back enough with today's announcement that I might skip GT5 until next year.

F1 2010 is not what I'm expected, its too arcadish... WRC 2010 looks arcade too. Maybe I buy NFS because the game reminds me good old time PC NFS games.

Well, with the exception of financial reasons, I see no reason why should the release of a game prevent anyone from buying another in the same genre. Variety is a good thing.

Different type of constraint - time. There's no point to me in buying a game that I won't want to devote the time I have to (I still don't have Red Dead Redemption, which would be above all the racing games listed here) when I know it will still be available, and almost certainly cheaper, when I do want to get around to it.

I'm not skipping any of those games because of GT5, I wouldn't have been buying any of them anyway. I would have bought TDU2 if it had released before GT5 as originally proposed, but now probably won't buy it on release. I'll also probably be skipping other non-racing games because a majority of my gaming time will go on GT5, as a majority of the last year's time went on FM3.

Same here, its not so much a financial problem for me, but rather if I buy 2 games, I really can't split the time. As it is right now, I only get to play a couple days a week, so with 2 games.........

I've already stopped buying new games ( any games, not only racing games ) alltogether for now, maybe I will buy something to get me through October though, in the knowledge that GT5 will not leave my PS3 once that disc is in ( and I'm only half joking as it will probably not come out for a long, long while ).
I mostly buy games I can play casually in the long run ( not anything depending on short term hype alone ), and/or can deliver short bursts of intense online-playing if I feel like it, and right now I simply wait with purchasing some titles knowing that GT5 ticks both boxes and it won't even be a casual experience for me the first months at least.
I could buy a few titles I know I will like but I fear once I'm bored of playing GT5 their successors have already been released.......

I might however need to start slowly gathering a full supply of processed food ( canned or not ), coffee and nicotine-providers to get me through the winter by now.:dopey:

Splitting time between new games is a bind. I got FM3 and PES10 on the same day last October and barely touched the latter until after Christmas. A game's appeal won't always be at the top of your gaming needs though and having others means you can enjoy more without making one game a chore out of necessity.

Sadly both F1 2010 and the new WRC game both seem to be more or less broken or janky so I'll pass on them but can't ignore Hot Pursuit completely because there's a special place in my heart for the first Hot Pursuit. :P

F12010 is total garbage in AI, to the point of ridicule, i looked forward to it, but now interest is waning hard, im not so into the "role" of F1 driver as much as the F1 Driving. So scrap that.

WRC the game, i got the demo on PC. Runs well even on low spec pcs, physics wise, is like Colin McRae rally, so not impressed, stages are nice enough considering we wont get any other full fledged rally game. Might still get this.

I am not going to buy all arcade racers.. unless its fun like Burnout or Motorstorm, N4S, Dirt series can eat it. they are sim wannabies.

I have always only wanted GT because all the other console games don't feel right. The physics of GT, the vast amount of cars and tuneability brings me back. I havn't played any of the PC sims that are out but RB Rally would be one I would love to try. But with GT5 just about to be released I won't have the time to play that.

Besides skipping F1 2010 I am also skipping: Fallout, MoH, CoD, NFS. From the savings of this I bought myself a G27.

That is sound logic and probably works for a lot of people but knowing myself and the time spend on previous GT games for me that's only hypothetical for a long while.
I spend quite some time playing Prologue ( especially online ) but this game was obviously severely limited by its content, something which I doubt GT5 will be.
I tried the same logic you use when I bought 2 new pairs of shoes a while ago, planning to switch between them for variety and increasing the lifespan of both.
Guess what, I only wore the ones I liked most to the extend that when I had them repaired for the 3rd time the guy behind the counter ( despite fixing shoes being his job ) told me to just give up and accept they were beyond help.
So I'd rather wait for now, although your logic does make sense, and I may try it as there still are plenty of interesting games to play alongside GT5 which fulfill a different "need".

I'm probably going to skip all the games before GT5 because I want to make sure I have enough memory. I'll probably get Black Ops, but that'll be the last one 'till GT5.

I don't think anyone is making a NASCAR 2011 game since PD has the NASCAR license. So, anyone wanting a NASCAR fix will have to make due with NASCAR 2009 (EA Sports) or entertain themselves with what is likely a very limited offering of NASCAR tracks and cars in GT5.

So, no. I am not skipping on buying NASCAR 2011. I am, however, skipping all others. Once GT5 hits, what else matters? So, I'm replaying old racers and shooters now before I lose any more interest in anything non-GT5 related.

Edit: Ok, I stand corrected: NASCAR 2011 by Activision Just Announced. LOL @ me!

I gave other racing games their fair shot. Nearly all of them have dissapointed me, So I'm going to be playing GT5 for a long time before I buy another.

Well at the moment im playing FM3 + F1 but come November 5th I will drop these like a hot potato. Also going to trade my 360 in and cancel my Xbox live account.

The reason for doing this is why play any other racing game when you have GT5. Certainly not going to buy a game from Turn 10 ever again and this is especially true after todays announcement. Still cannot believe how they have kicked the loyal forza fanbase in the nuts!

Just want to add how I regret buying F1. Apart from the bugs some of the laptimes are 10secs faster than real life. This goes to show what a crap physics engine F1 2010 has. I shouldn't be surprised considering they are using the same game engine as Grid, Dirt!

-> Other than GT5, I will hold myself on buying NFS:Hot Pursuit (3). I like HP3 just because the fun I'm having at Burnout Paradise plus the memories of past Hot Pursuit games (w/o the Ferrari thing). I might get TDU2 if my financial status improves.
