Can i ask why the vr6?

Yes you can ask.

The engine that came stock in this Em Kay 2 was a little worn out and lacked decent torque when the previous owner had it so they switched it to the VR6 engine. Cut to now. Mike Halley(the current owner and driver) ran the car in several rallies until the timing chain skipped a tooth thus bending 2 valves. So that VR6 is out and being sent to a shop to be rebuilt and Mike had another VR6 laying around in perfect working condition only it was out of a newer car. SO we swapped all the working components to the replacement engine and put that into the car. Thus keeping it VR6 powered.

The car runs in Open 2wd class in rally so being able to switch to the VR6 helps out as the engine produces better low end power for stages and also has more HP to use when on some more sweeping fast corners. Mike thought about putting the car in Limited 2WD class but it would not be competitive at all, especially since VW Rabbits and Golfs are the way to go for a proper VW rally car. On top of those reasons, he had more VR6 parts laying around to play with. So use what you have.

Got it. So the vr6 was already swapped in by the previous owner.

To me the vr6 swap in a mk2 is way to much work for the extra 20hp over a stock 1.8t.

Also the reliability issues with thr vr6

There wasn't a turdbo on it originally. It was NA. At least that is what the owner was saying.

As far as the reliability, it actually has been quite reliable. THe chain skipping a tooth was more or less our fault when it happened. Like I said, the car had a bunch of rallies on it with that swap. 4 by mike and somewhere in the range of 15 by the other owner. None of which needed any work on the VR6.

Also Nick.....wtf man. A 4 seater convertible? Thats more ghey than a Miata.

And I would know.

@Moby45 ouch! FYI Camaros have always been 4 seaters in both hard too and Convertible. Since 1967. And the Miata’s? Ultimate chick cars man. I laugh every time I see a guy driving one. I say to myself....chick car!
That Camaro is a mean machine bro, 446 hp at the wheel and it looks cool

The backseats are to hold his walker with custom tennis balls

i never got to drive the c6. i dont know how many miles ive driven in a c5 z06 around a race track giving rides, and as much of a porsche fan boy as i am, i love the corvette... it is such a great car to drive, it doesnt quite have the edge of a 911 and thats what makes it great... great american v8 sound right wheel drive, well balanced pretty good brakes and good enough handling ... love them...

i am also shocked at how heavy the new camaro feels, but what the car is able to do with that weight... i love modern suspensions... and brakes, and tires, and transmissions....

They definitely built the Camaro for the track that’s for sure. Ever see the Nürburgring ZL1 Camaro video?

go watch a spec miata race, it is awesome to see a race field of 60 plus cars going at it for 25-45 minutes. regardless if its a guy or girl driving.

but, drive one
they are an absolute blast and you will know why threre are millions of them around... you feel like your driving 10/10ths everywhere

I’m sure they are but I have no desire to drive one.

I want a 1991 High Wing t-top IROC so badly.
IROC Z’s are so bad ass! My ultimate Camaro would be the 1969 Z28 Indy Pace Car drop top. I’m gonna have one someday.

to hop back on my porsche bandwagon, any 997 and later 911 with the targa roof is amazing and an awesome thing to sit in, the early ones are cool too but until porsche went water cooled their ac systems sucked ass..

The only water cooled Porsches i like are of the front engine variety.

QUESTION:

For those of you that have seen the Facebook page, there is a photo album dedicated to drivers rides. Would y'all rather it be done as before, with driver pics put in order of driver? Or random in the order they were taken?
