Turn these off and see how good you do, you have to learn your cars much better and the pressure senstive buttons are what save you. Its fun to get the back end comin around sometimes. Give it a try and tell us what you think.

i've been driving like this since day one of the game....in my opinion...

you're not a pro unless u drive with TCS and ASM off and manual in the first-person perspective....its about as real as it gets...

It would also take a good analog wheel.

But honestly, it's a GAME. I don't want it to be too real. If it was, we'd all come out of it with cramped legs, smell like fuel and smoke, be completely worn out, and deaf. Who wants that?

My $0.07. Keep the change.

It seems to me that cars are actually easier to control with these turned off in most cases.

I run with them off, but I think it's a lot easier with the GT3 wheel - analogue throttle (don't me give that pap about the analogue buttons on the DSII).

There is one exception - that useless Pagani Zonda C12. What a bucket of rubbish that thing is.

Well, I'm a fairly good driver, but I wouldnt call myself a "pro."

I find it easiest to turn off the ASM and TCS in the game options, and set it individually for each car. There are some cars that just cant handle the kind of power you are putting to the wheels. The F1 cars come to mind, as they are undrivable (to me) without a little bit of both. Big powerful rear wheel drives like a viper or a non-racing vette need a little stability or a LOT of skill to drive fast.

So if you turn off both for every car and still remain competitive, my hat is off to you.

What I cant figure out is why the perspective you drive from affects your "pro" status. It would seem that it would be the smart move to drive from whichever perspective is best suited to the track/section that you are in. Maybe that's just me, but I switch it constantly during a race.

Absolutely. I set the TCS to reign in the most extreme of wheelspin, which is useful for things like the start and accelerating out of slow hairpins. Similarly with the ASM, just a little is useful for taming the extremes, but otherwise, you need a bit of instability and wheelspin to work the car, especially when you're off the racing line trying to pass someone!

I love going up the inside of someone into a hairpin, and using instability to generate a little weave with the tail, that makes your off-line turn-in much easier.

As for the driving view, I agree with BCN, that it depends on the situation. I tend to choose the view that's most appropriate for the car: sometimes you can't see over the top when you're in chase view! And the Yaris that I won, and then used in the Yaris series was the most vile shade of pink known to humanity!
