A-ha! Someone noticed the signature... It's the first of my three weekly fascinating facts anyone's commented on (Previous one: Woodpeckers have an ear on the end of their tongue; Ancient Greeks made dildoes out of bread).

But it's true. The USA consists of only 46 States - I was under the impression that ALL good Americans knew this...

Yep, District of Columbia gets Electoral votes and counts in election. You'll have to put us out of our misery...what makes a territory qualify to be state. Is it local government or is it because the Bee Gees have sung about it that disqualifies it

Apart from ruining this "aspyrin" "aspirin" thread I'm learning trivia, but Famine that new sig is crazy... the Capybara is my favourite rodent its just sooo big for a rat Where did those Catholic biologists find scales on a capybara. Indeed - bonemeal is regularly used to enrich soil, although it's usually fish-derived. That said, pig poo is used to enrich soil too and pigs are omnivorous (literally) and their poo likely contains several species of bacteria nad egss from Taenius solium, the pork tapeworm.

Edit: Aspirin Toxicity Information:
Aspirin should not be given to children with a fever, as it can cause "Reye's Disease"
The toxic level for Aspirin in adults is roughly 60mg/kg/day.

Two things the nurse in me couldn't resist. The first being dosage calculation.
at the levels that Famine has given we are talking roughly 4500mg in one day for a 75kg person. That would be roughly 14-20 aspirin at one sitting. (I don't know if it would actually kill you, but I bet you wouldn't feel too whoopee)
I'd have to add that you'd likely have to do something like cut yourself severely on top of the aspirin. Because ASA (aspirin) also works as a mild anticoagulant. This is why cardiolgists recommend a baby ASA (81mg) daily to heart attack survivors.

The other thing I could resist telling y'all is that the active ingredient in Rat poison is Warfarin Sodium. For those of you that have heart conditions you know it as Coumadin. It is a powerful (in some people) anticoagulant that is used to keep blood clots from forming.
So in rats, other rodentia, and humans, the consumption of much warfarin eventually leads to internal bleeding and death. Though I've met people that can take quite a bit before their bleeding times change significantly.,
