It was on the news about a week ago or 2. It said, like last time, 1 and a billion chance that it would hit. I think all us americans would be killed by W. Bush. He is gonna go a a mental rampage in a year. I BET HE WILL!

i can hear the newscasters; "an asteroid is going to hit the earth soon! find out when at eleven!"

the media  pffft. hype = $$$$ ?

If jupitor wasn't around, earth would look like the moon. Jupitor gravity takes care of almost all astroids heading our way.

On average, Earth receives one major impact about every 60,000 years or so, which means that by the Gaussian distribution standard, we're waaaaaayyyy overdue. Granted, it's an easy argument that these events don't follow a standard, and so averages are a bit pointless here. Nonetheless, even with Jupiter in the way and most big rocks confined to the belt, it's still a matter of when rather than if. The only real variable in this equation is our level of preparedness. We've got all our eggs in "one very fragile basket".

I find it troubling how people truly have faith that, for any problem or potential problem, there's an expert diligently worrying away at a solution - not only competently, but with the proper tools. This, my friends, is a scary mindset, because it justifies apathy. Too much faith in our very shaky foundations? Bad, bad, bad.

bush....the war on asteroidism...I mean the world has enough nukes to blow the world up like 3 times over so I think it will take out an ansteroid but the smaller pieces will kill us....UNLESS we make the worlds biggest duct tape net to catch em! lol...ok I'll quit with the duct tape...all I can say is if my skyline gets messed up there will be hell to pay!

Skylines are fairly heavy; maybe they can launch your Skyline into outer space to intercept incoming death-rocks. Nah, but then it'd probably understeer pathetically, missing it's target by miles, and we'd have two huge chunks of rock plummeting toward the surface.

11 o'clock news: "This just in, there's an M-Spec Skyline plummeting toward the Florida peninsula. We'll consult with experts who'll tell you what you can do to protect yourself, right after weather and sports."

Uh... kidding!

Actually, a meteor the size of an american football field crashed into cental Arizona only 50,000 years ago,... so, I wouldnt say that we're way overdue.....

That's the famous Arizona crater, innit? I'm not sure it's deemed to be a major impact, mind you, though it did leave a big-ass mark.

It certainly wasn't big enough to be an extinction event. But, yeah - I wouldn't want it falling on me.

About five years ago, we had a very small one (size of a watermelon by the time it hit) land about a hundred kilometers away, and it was felt by most of the people I know. Gives you an idea of the forces generated here.

i can hear bush now; "this asteroid is a terrorist, we need to send it an ultimatum, if it does not stop, were...ummm....wheres momma bush?"

then he will declare war on asteroids.

the Skyline’s uneven weight-distribution of 57% in front and 43% in the rear. Usually this layout would be expected to be dominated by understeer, but due to ATTESA’s intervention, the car is given a rather oversteering character. The only place where the Skyline cannot hide its nose-heavy layout is on the skidpad, since ATTESA does not help much here...and since going straight towards a meteor has nothing to do with steering it wil display neither oversteer nor understeer  so :p  AND to top it of I would get a NUR spec not a M spec so :p again!

BTW I live in AZ and that meteor crater is alot bigger looking up close...

i can see it now another world is going to end by a big rock crashing into it movie but is saved by a ricer:rolleyes:  all it need is a title:lol:

I'm not worrying about it. By the time 2014 rolls around, we could all be dead the way terrorism is going lately.

Uuuuhhhh.....

Yeah.

Skyline fanatics:rolleyes: Sheesh!

Skylines aren't available in North America, so I've never had the "pleasure" of actually driving one... My only basis is the game. On which subject, I think it's a riot to watch Red Emblem races, where even the CPU cars spend half their time bouncing off walls and hitting obstacles. I love Pro series races where you get a field comprised of two team NSXs, a team Supra and two team Skylines, and the Skylines are always way in the rear, bouncing off each other like Curly and Moe. N'yuk n'yuk n'yuk! Or just turning a corner at Laguna Seca and seeing a massive dust cloud up ahead, where you just know there's some lame-ass Skyline sitting in the middle of it. Worst-handling car in the game. I mean, I'm personally less than enchanted with all the glorified mom-and-pop cars on steroids (Evos, Imprezas and Skylines), but Skylines are by far the worst. You wanna catch some serious kitty litter at Apricot Hill, then the Skyline is the car for you.

It's good people like them. I don't

Duct tape is gods tool. im not really worried about this. and even if it did happen, would u want it to happen in ur time? i mean what a cool way for the earth to end. its better than us blowing one another up.

Well skylines ARE available in north america through motorex.... www.motorex.net for a hefty sum. I plan on getting a NUR spec shipped over from japan in about 4 years then paying motorex the 15K to legalize it...it's cheaper to do it that way than buying it straight from them.....

Unlike video games however reality tells a different story the skyline handles like a dream I've been in hundreds of high end cars from vipers, porsches, ferraris to NSX's and a skyline and the skyline handles better than most of other so called supercars. Granted I'm not saying it's the best ever but its one of the top contenders. Just because you live in the US doesn't mean you can't drive a skyline. You just have to know the right people like I did. I live in arizona and Nissan happend to have a skyline over for "tests" anyway my friend who is a tech there brought it over and we wen't for a little spin. We had it out all night! It was such a blast to drive my dream car! Some people even followed us home so they could see it up close. you shoulda seen the looks on their faces when we showed up at the races. We didn't race tho becasue if we got caught my friend woulda been fired so we just took it out into the boonies for some fun ;)

Anyway all I'm saying is that real life is WAY different then any videogame and you shouldn't downplay a car untill you've expirienced it first hand ;)

Well, you're lucky - and that is a cool tip on Skylines in North America, btw... I have a friend here at work who's a frothing Skyline freak, and he might like to know. As I said, my basis is the game, and, let's face it: in the game, she blows! But, that said, I certainly wouldn't be turned off by the chance to see and feel for myself. I reserve judgment 'til then.

I just thought it made for a laugh is all. So, um... We're all still gonna die in 2014! Hah!

lock the motha,... I'm sick of commin back to read opinions about an astroid and in turn being subjected to crap-ass Skyline arguments.
