Aston Martin DB9-R?

I don't think they should work on removing ANY cars, just adding more.

So, you would buy a game containing 1300 cars, 200 of which are Miatas, 150 of which are Skylines, and another 300 are multiples of Japanese sports cars that differ in no way, shape, or form than the previous rather than have a game with 1000 cars, all of which are unique an contain everything from a 1935 rolls Royce phantom II to a gumpert Apollo to a Audi R15 TDI?

I blame Sony, the GT brand is HUGE and should get MEGA funding....Microsoft realise that with Forza, I get the feeling Turn 10 get WAY more from Microsoft than what PD get from Sony. I also think the 3D coding was utterly pointless and driven by Sony, which wasted even more precious time and meant money was spent on coding the 3D portion of the game instead of spending it on a few more 3d modellers to get more premium cars in. Also I think Kazs vision NEEDS more funding than what he gets. He has a massive game in his head and tries to get it out as best he can, in the past he's succeded, but GT4 and now GT5 have been less than brilliant IMO. He hit his peak with GT3.

If PD remade GT3 with the best elements of GT5, graphics, online, Physics....it would be awesome and possible. Better car list in many ways too. Less pointless faff (then again am I guilty of rose tinted glasses syndrome as GT3 is my fave, I STILL play it!)

I agree about using what you say about using GT5 as a base for GT6, it's what they've done in the past anyways. I really do think that PD should also look at Forzas car lists. Lot's more variety.

Your an idiot. Sony gave PD 60 million and 5 years before finally getting tired of wasred resources by PD.

Forza has released 2 games with less time and budget.
MS are the worst, they have no first party development. Look what they did to rare a once good dev?

Kaz needs more funding? LMAO, gt5 budget is bigger then both forza's combined......

Learn some facts before spewing garbage.

Sony's first party support and development wipes the floor with microsoft.

Gt5 issues are all on PD, not sony.

You realize Turn 10 are a third party developer, and not first party exclusive right? MS just publishes the game. MS has only a couple exclusives non of which are first party and MS just has exclusive publishing rights?

Oh look, more people bitching that GT5 isn't good enough. Get the hell over it already.

Don't threads like this get locked on sight? How is this thing at like 5 pages now?! You're favorite car is not in GT5 T.S. LOCKED.

So the game has 1,300 cars, and 550 of them are Japanese.

That means the game has 750 cars not from Japan. That's more cars then most games have. And the cars range from the Audi R10 to the two VW cars from WWII, to Ferrari Enzos to the a Fiat 500, from Corvette GT cars to about 10 different Mopars from the 1970's.

The game has a ton of variety.

While it is a little sad this paticular car didnt make it, you all have to realise that this game is NOT all about the top-tier cars. This game is about having fun in any type of car which caters to a little bit of every audience, be it the supercar loving speed freaks or the ones that like historicaly significent automobiles. This game dosent cater to just one but instead spreads on a variety of tastes, so it gives everyone a bit of what they like, they cant just have a supercar-centric game or it'll just be another boring game, and they cant have too many cheapy cars or it'll be just a ricer sim, PD have made it to spread around all different car categories and cultures to truly make the game feel unique, and with a soul instead of just catering to the masses that want a Veyron (which is finally out of production, at long last) or some other bland supercar-filled list of cars.

PD may have included many Japanese cars, but its where they work and are mostly influenced by the many japanese cars but they still have a great amount of non-japanese cars. People should also be happy this game was even out despite the 5 year working time, and before i end this rather long post, i shall leave with this:

If you only go to the supercars, your missing the close racing joys of low-powered cars and highly intense races, and if you only cater to the lower cars you miss the speed thrills of the upper class cars, so if you want to enjoy the game as much as you possibly can, experience all the different types of cars and treat them equally, this is how you will enjoy this game! :)

Someone give this man a virtual cookie! I completely agree with you, I love the fact that there is sooo much variety in GT. I always race every kind of class you can think of, from the low power daily drivers to the extreme speed of formula/LMP/exotics. I cant stand it when racing games (not going to name names) only give you exotic/high speed cars...been playing GT5 since release (actually before that, got GT5 about a week before launch) and I am not even close to bored of it, despite playing on a daily basis, now if I only had the money for the G25 pro wheel stand then I would be set!

I'm in agreement that GT5 has arguably the best line up and variety of cars of any racing game. And it's driving physics and tuning options are 2nd to none. But I do also think the duplicates are too many in number and a bit redundant. I'm all for the variety across the board but I jus think cars like alto works and prius' n such are jus a bit of a yawn fest. Either way this is still the Techincs 1200 of all racing games from the dawn of it on the PS1 console. The only reason I ever bought a newer console was the release of the new GT on them. It was good to get everyone's input on this. :)

customization is even worse.
no basic livery editor
20 pairs of rims
10 types of aero kits
stupid paint chip system
lack of power and other car related modifications
really pd?

wow, thanks for just insulting me all the way and back again...I'm so sorry I don't possess the in depth knowledge you do....shall I go and commit suicide oh Mr Perfect?..SHEEEEESH.

Talking of facts....care to supply them so I can learn.

If that is all true then it makes the situation with PD WORSE....how can they have so few Premium cars when they have that level of funding?

My face after glancing through these kind of threads...

The fact that you two are missing is that there are too many similar premiums in GT5 (let alone the standards). I would mind ONE Cappucino or Swift....but do we need 2 cappucinnos (3 including the RM) and two Swifts. Now I know the argument is once one is done then it's easier to do another. That argument hold no water because the DB9 is in the game so the basis for the DBR9 is there too...at the very least an RM version like the Corvettes.

Forza 3 has less overall cars but WAY more variety. The E class cars are all slower cars, no supercars there and an interesting spread of historically signifcant cars in there too. [waits for the "go play Forza 3 then" flames]

I Understand at what your trying to get to with the whole duplicate thing (and Kazunori himself had admitted in regards to the duplicate Standard cars) and that different trim levels of Standard cars may be unneccsary, like the Mazda MX-5 (J) or (NB, J) and (NA) as there is no visual difference. When you mention the Premium cars, the Cappaccinos in question, both the EA11R and EA21R do tune up slightly different and handle differently to eachother (i'll have to see if the Swift is the same) and the Cappaccino RM is a completly different car compared. I thik regarding the Aston MArtin issue was with some sort of argument over the rights of the car brand, although im not entirely sure (it was a while ago that i heard about it).

When you mentioned about the E (and F) classes of cars in Forza 3 i have had a look at the list of E-class cars (also bearing in mind that I dont have Forza 3 let alone a 360, mainly because of paying for online, but thats a diff. subject matter) and i have to agree, even if most of these classes of cars are the same as GT5, both GT5 and FM3 have different cars which one or the other do not have, so both games have are varied one way or another, but i do understand what your trying to say. :)

(and flaming is for the unintellegent :P)

Who gives a ****, end of the day it's a game. EVERY game dissapoints people nowadays. I blame DLC and greedy devs.

there are lots of cars that are missing and large omissions.

Cadillac CTSV
Aston Martin DB5 (seriously cant believe thats not in there, mental)
Ascari A10
Reasonably priced cars for TTGTT

edit,

still the best racing game ever by a mile, i played FMS on the friends xbox, wasn't great.... there are always going to be cars missing in any game. there are some gimmics missing, like livery editor, but the physics more than make up for it.

and perhaps the MX5 is just really popular with the employees at PD :/ (personally i hate it, hairdressers car)

If anyone can remember or doesn't know perhaps, there was a licence issue with Aston Martin after Prologue (which included the premium DB9) was released.
Aston Martin struck a deal with Microsoft to supply software for their cars, apparantly that contract initially prevented (or was at least rumoured to) licensing to other companies (even though technically these 2 things seem unrelated).
Maybe PD decided to not spend time and resources modelling new Astons in that period if there was a big chance they couldn't even include them in GT5.
In the end the license was secured (obviously) but this issue might be the reason we didn't get more Aston Martin cars (or a RM DB9, in the same way the RM Corvettes imitate or replicate the GT1 versions).

I reckon half this forum could do a better job of choosing cars thatn PD. All PD actually had to do is attend Goodwood FOS that would give you 200 cars that would be worthy of being premium and anyone who has been to goodwood will back me up on this. Minus the f1 of course because of licensing

Those are exactly my thoughts. Goodwood FOS, the Gumball Rally, the Top Gear leaderboard, the 24H of Nurburgring and Le Mans, those are the kinds of cars most people want. Add two or three cars of other niches, to keep those wierd K-car lovers, Japanophiliacs, and boring people who want GT5 to simulate their daily commute. There, everbody happy. With 60M and the money from GT5:P sales surely you could do a car list which really has 1000 premium and interesting cars in it.

I've even been thinking about making an imaginative but realistic car list and asort of blue-print of the championships we could have with it. As I previously said, the better the car list, the better the A-Spec events.

Nice to hear that Kaz has said that, but why doesn't he DO something about it!! I think it stems from the fact that they (whoever) just wanted the blurb one the box to say "over 1000 cars".

I understand that the Cappucinos are all different, I just do not understand why PD spent time on them and not a MILLION (small exaggeration ;) ) other cars!!

hmmm if it was a rights issue over the Astons then that pisses me off. License issue effed up porche in the GTs, bloody money grabbing scumbags, and lawyers and such folk should be strung up. They contribute nothing to humanity and just serve to inflate their own wallets. (mini rant over)

Glad you've looked into the Forza 3 car list. Many here who do not possess Forza 3 just slag it off and don't investigate (it's people like that who my flaming comment was aimed at not you).
