At what level does damage fully unlock?

you do not get full damage at level 0 or 20. I have read its level 40. Just go onto youtube and type gt5 damage. u will see the damage that u will recieve at some point. the damage is awful until it gets unlocked. I dont no why all you ppl think its from the start. im level 28 and its appauling

Yes you do. Notice that it's a WRC car in the vid, which has a much better damage model than some random skyline. Whatever level you are.
 
I'm not picking sides here cause I simply don't know the facts but it at least FEELS like the damage is getting more visible after reaching level 27~. I've been ramming my Ford GT LM race car spec II at Indy since level....22? All that happened was some scratches on the doors. Right now I can make my Ford GT a shapeshifter when I ram the walls.

Kaz confirmed there is no progressive damage model.

WRC and NASCAR are the the best ones, but still not very convincing.
 
I have a C4 WRC. I'm gonna go smash that around for a while.

I knew about the mechanical damage.

Eh.. Damage is better than no damage I guees. And appearently headlights are indestructible..

On my Prius, it got smashed so badly they were hidden under my my Prius' hood.
 
A progressive damage model would be completely useless and asinine (and GT5 doesn't have one).

If anything, full temporary damage should be MANDATORY at level 0. Maybe people would learn to actually drive and have a little more respect for how difficult IRL racing really is. :)
 
By the way - which mode is damage in? I know I can have mechanical damage in Practice Mode but what about actual damage? Arcade mode? GT Mode?

The shocking thing is, I'm at level 28 a-spec and have yet to see any damage. 👎

WRC has the best damage system, very detailed and in some ways realistic. NASCAR-damage is crap in my opinion. At the front there happenes nearly nothing (hard as concrete) and the rear melts like plastic in a toaster. There was the biggest potential and they didn´t use it.

JGTC-cars are disappointing, too. Not, what I thought to get happened.

Try HKS CT230R, one of the easiest deformable cars. Also the S2000 from SEMA. Also there are some street cars, which have good dent appearence, as I said Gallardo or 430 Scuderia.

Sometimes its very funny and good against boredom to try damage model of different cars.

But try it out in Arcade Mode, so you have nothing to repair.
 
so y is it then that im at level 28 nearly 29 an all i get is a small dent in the car. no doors opening or coming off, no bumbers falling off an sliding in the road an thats even if i crash at over 100mph. its all lies. u will unlock it at some point. i have read on the internet its level 40 in many places.

It's there from the beginning. But it's useless. Like a mouse's fart.

Parts falling off the car happens only at the WRC-cars (Focus, C4 and Subaru premiums).

As often mentioned. Every car has different damage calculation. At one it is heavy, at another it happens nearly nothing. it is very unbalanced.

Because you have to smash your race car repeatedly (at least 5-10 minutes).
No it's not lies.
And no there's nothing to unlock.

ok i stand corrected...for now. i shall try it later. thats pretty appauling thats its very limited to the cars.

There is no unlock for damage, it's always there.

Standard cars get weird glass bending damage, premium cars get more damage and race cars get the best damage.

The reasons it feels like it unlocks later is because you don't get your hands on the cars that damage as much and go as fast until laster, but rest assured, the damage is there and the same from the get go.

There is nothing to repair...ever. Damage is temporary only for the race you're in.

Of course, but your chassis and overall performance suffers from crashing very often. Visual, it starts always from scratch.
 
i stand corrected. u do get full damage.... i have now come to the conclusion that the damage system is a pile of ****

One track in particular is a bit arcady. If you did the jump at cape ring in your car that you drive everyday I guarantee a huge repair bill heading your way

IRL I badly damaged a MG after a short jump of about 2ft high

Sucks, lol. I was trying to get that bumper to fall off the skyline. So it is permanently attached. PD and your wacky decisions..
