At what level does damage fully unlock?

Everyone always speaks about damage and the only time I have really noticed it has been online. I am yet to bust off a door or something crazy as I'm lapping in a spec. Till that happens, then ill be convinced damage is there. Yes there have been several huge crashes during a spec races in which little to no damage was notice. At crashes like those experienced, something should have fallen off or at least have gotten bent.

Having a damage system as lame as it is now wouldn't be so bad if they sorted out the actual collision dynamics (and sounds) imo.

Definitely the WORST of any racing game I've played. It's really comical just how poor the collision dynamics have been in the GT series. PD grabbed the same worthless code from the previous versions for this one. I was doing the NASCAR series today and just shaking my head in disbelief at the atrociously poor post-collision kinematics. AI cars with rock solid stability despite getting hit at a decent speed on the rear corner of the car. Not to bring up a certain game on another console, but GT5 just isn't racing like that title and others. Despite this I continue to play it.

Long term mental damage kicks in at ASpec 30 I believe.

Ironically that other games collision detection was much made fun of around here before GT5 came out...

It's interesting that some of the familiar (and vocally GT5 supportive) names quite suddenly dissapeared from GTP shortly after release...

One of my favorite passtimes in Forza3 (now that I've finished the game) is smashing into the AI cars and watching the replays. That damage system while not perfect is very entertaining in replays and the mechanical damage makes the races more fun too. Maybe a future GT5 upgrade will 'turn on' the damage. Probably not. Still, I'm having lots of fun with GT5. Cheers.

We must not be playing the gran turismo I just went with my most expensive car and went 200 mph and crashed. :(......no damage at all not even a scratched I painted my car black so i ccould see too.
