ATTN: So called "Drifters"

Thank you.

I guess if grammar is so important within this forum, people like me (who forget to properly structure sentences) must deply offend individuals like yourself. I guess this makes us "dummies" in your eyes, and the eyes of many others. I apoligize if my grammar offends you in some mysterious way, and as i have shown, i will attempt to write in a more respectable fashion. I think, that what you did Klos, was wrong, for lack of a better word. You entered the drifting forum, and attacked everyone of the people who come into it. First you addressed us as a whole with " ATTN: so called drifters." And second, you instruct each and everyone of us to buy a book "English Grammar For Dummies" by Geraldine Woods. Thanks. This has been the absolute most important thread i have read thus far. I see your point. You must think that we are the greatest offenders of the english grammar, but not all the drifters, or rather the people who post in this forum, suffer from the laziness that i do. I can only speak for myself when i apoligize or voice my opinions, but this is a thread i never thought i would see on GTP.

Ben

What IS 'Klostrophobic'? It's not offically on the phobia list.

Edit: Oh, and about the weird spelling from the drifters... in my point of view, I think it's our responsibility to be able to read it instead of attacking others to use the appropriate English language. A similar case would be the Jive language.

It's my username. Nothing more, nothing less.

I may as well retort and ask, "what is 19xx?"

Just a name from a certain Capcom shump game... Easy to type, easy to remember. Plus it makes you remember the oldies fashion and music.

The problem is, I can't read most of the stuff in the Drifter's only forum, and while it does give me a good laugh, it's very difficult to understand.

And on top of that, it violates the Acceptable Use Policy (something you have to read and agree to before you can sign up.)

I'm not here to fight, I just want to help.

Yes, but most of the content with this kind of typing are either useless or just plain flaming material. Example would be Madboost's 'I need an AE86 thread', post number 48.

To Madboost - WHY BELIEVE YOU?

Nah that was to Madboost. I know Klos' concerns.

Another good debate would be the popular '2' replacing 'too' or 'to'. 2F2F, Cradle 2 the grave, etc. We understand this one, but why not others?

The more i look at it, the more i smile :D

Due to his excessive use of smileys and referring to nonsense. If he had explained what he meant it might not have been an example.
*EDIT* I forgot to mention the punctuation. Unfortunately this is one of the more organized examples.

Thanks 19xx now I don't know what's worse my headache or the fact that I can't see. Anyways, I should probably not reply about why I'm an example but I will anyways. I'm gonna explain why I said what I said. Ok, if I knew I could do something stupid like the stuff in jackass or some of these "reality" shows and get paid for it I would have never gone to school in the first place! Talk about taking the pulse of this country. We hit an all time low every day or more like every hour on how pathetic our intelligence is. Don't tell me it's not stupid because if people didn't feel insulted and ripped off like I do people would refuse to watch this crap and then we would move on to some more intelligent things on t.v. and it would be worth watching it. Ok that's it just my opinion.

Thanks 19xx.
That definitely woke me up. Actually i used to go to raves, and while i was never hardcore or anything or fooled around with glowsticks or e, i was wondering why stevie mo changed his avatar. Hence what in god's name is up with the raving hamster (if that is what the yellow pikachu-like animal is).

I was in a dark room when i pressed the link. Think of how my eyes feel.

Whoa, seizure indeed.

Has anyone ever pondered about how this forum is not only available to the English-speaking nations of the world? It very well might be a fact that not all "so called 'drifters' " can effectively type/write English very well. As for using the term "Dummies" to indirectly call the people who refer to themselves as "Drifters", does that not violate the Acceptable Use Policy as well?

The descritption for English Grammar for Dummies by Geraldine Woods states that:
standard American English has become the de facto international language for business.
Last I checked, this forum's intention was neither business nor anything related to business; therefore, the use of non-standard american english 4 use in 4ums, wher it can still b understood should be AcCePtAbLe 4 dose whu wanna read it.

Actually i was thinking of bringing that up in my first post, but assumed that Klos wasn't calling individuals from other countries dummies for not knowing how to speak english. You bring up a good point tailo, one that can be argued over and over and over. BTW lets not do that. Klos was just trying to point out that typing with correct grammar is what we are supposed to be doing. In a way he was looking out for those who he felt were breaking a sacred rule. One that i myself find kind off... Well what i think doesnt really matter. I think this post should be kept new until tomorrow so everyone has a chance to see it and then it should be left to die. The thing that i do not understand is why Klos and M5 (who i have had this conversation with before) had to insult those not employing better grammar and breaking a rule they hold dear. Personally i think that pointing out that writing with poor grammar was not only against the rules but did not benefit your arguement in a way that would not offend people would have been more effective. I completely disregarded M5 because of the way i was approached, and almost did the SAME THING with this discussion.

I think that my posts look better when i take the time to write them correctly. What do you guys think. Woo Hoo... :D

There have been many times where not just emailing or in forums but also in talking to others that i get so rapped up or excited in saying something that I don't think about what I'm saying before I say it so it doensn't come out right or clearly so yeah I have to agree with bengee that it does make a difference when I don't rush and read before I say.

Yup - well, it's a forum, not a chat site. An extra ten key strokes a post isn't going to kill you...

there are a lot of people who can't spell for crap or use proper grammar here...and i hate em. akina_86 is suspect #1 :p

There seems to be two reasons why people post crap. The most obvious is a nasty combination of laziness and incompetence, and the second is an attempt to appear cool or up-to-date. You really ought to consider that nobody is going to waste their time wading through a post devoid of punctuation or any other type of grammar usage. If you want your posts to be read and understood it is in your best interest to at least attempt to make them comprehensible.

It is not anyone's responsibility to decifer anybody elses tossed word salad. It is always your responsibility to get your point accross, no matter what it's about.

Klostrophibic, myself, and any other like-minded member, is totally justified in not wanting to see their forum cluttered with garbage, which is what many posts are.

Although this forum is not limited to English speaking countries, the official language of GTPlanet is English. If you're going to do it, do it well. This applies to everything. It is also worth noting that the worst offenders hail from English speaking countries and have no excuse. See paragraph #1.

That person is just too lazy to type and too busy showing off IMO.
