No i understand that, and its why i love the sport (and Audi for that matter). what i was asking is why the chairmen of the investment board were willing to put forth this much money while other teams like peugeot had to pull out because they lost factory financial support.

Because Peugeot aren't selling a lot of cars and Audi are.

Yes a little research brought my answer. citroen/peugeot saw a global sales dip of 1.5%, where as audi came close to a sales record up 20% just in the US. theres the reason for Peugeot pulling out and Audi bringing Multiple contenders to LeMans this year.
