R10 has a V12 diesel with twin turbo chargers. R10 was never really fast on smaller tracks even in real life, was designed for large open tracks like La Sarthe or some of the other large European tracks.

R18 has a small light weight V6. Smaller car overall made for lightness and nimble around any track.

Very different cars like comparing American muscle cars to light weight Lotus.

And as it's not supposed to be made for small races for the weight of a diesel engine mounted in the car and its durableness, the engine doesn't deserve for being used only in small competitions for a short time because of persistent endurance and disadvantages when it comes to nimbleness required on one track.

?!? Sorry but you're inventing, Audi R10 and its TDI engine ran for three seasons in the American Le Mans Series, the 24 hours of le mans is not the only race where it ran.

The R10 was competetive not only on long tracks such as La Sarthe.
The car made its debut at the 12 hours of Sebring in 2006, a track with lots of corners and few short straights.
I know that comparing pole position lap times is not the best way to estabilish which car is faster at all, but surely it works better than doing the same by comparing figures written on a paper like "horsepower", "torque" and so on.
So here's a list of poles and fastest lap times set on Sebring (12 hours event), during qualifying sessions, since 1999. Note The track hasn't changed since then.

Audi R8's best lap time on Sebring: 1:48.029, 198.432 km/h (2002)
Audi R10's best lap time on Sebring: 1:43.195, 207.728 km/h (2008)
that makes almost 5 seconds of difference.
I know rules change, but cars improve too.
Please don't ask me to do the same job for other tracks also cause i've spent almost one hours to write this list! :D

Sebring is a fairly large track. The R10 really had a hard time at Mid Ohio sized tracks. The Porshe RS Spyder and Acura ARXs which was a lower class cars, usually out paced the R10. And PD needs to fix the exhaust sound on the R10, sounds nothing like that in real life, actually when we was at Mid Ohio it was almost silent, except for a whirling wind like sound.

I wasn't comparing the R10 to the RS Spyder, but to the R8, to show that in GT5 its performances don't match to reality.
The RS Spyder was a beast, but also lighter than the audi being it a LMP2, this gave it advantages on tracks such as Mid Ohio.

I'd like to see the return of the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe. I don't remember precisely, but I think I used it in Gran Turismo 3. I thought that car was so sweet to drive and sounded awesome. The Ford Mark 4 is nice and I enjoy using it, but it's like a truck. The SCDC was much more agile and sporty.

Off topic, but.. good car.
:)

This is new to me, are you sure of that ?

This is true, they share some technologies. Just to let you know, the R8C is closed-cockpit, while the R8R, which ran alongside it, was open-cockpit. They look similar, but are very different. The R8R was built by Dallara, while the R8C is built in Britain by a company in Norfolk. The only similarities is the engines, 600bhp V8s.

Fixed. 👍

I have a question, why is the R10 so much slower than the car it replaced?

It was more reliable and had better fuel economy than the R8

oh while your at it tell them that i want a Ferrari 512 ..

Every wishlist thread is half full of sarcastic comments like this, so...

Yay. Another wisea** comment.

It blows my mind how simple it is for people to just ignore threads they don't like, yet how few people seem able to do that...

I like when some asks the question "Is the Red Bull X2010 really hard to drive?"
And some replies "I don't have the car but maybe it is" Is this something like that? hehe

Although it wasn't badged an Audi, the R8C was developed into the Bentley Speed 8

It wasn't....the engine and class (LM-GTP) are the only 2 things shared...designer Peter Elleray designed both and used the aero principles learned on the R8C for the Bentley. The R8C was badged an Audi because it was an Audi (built by Audi UK contractor Racing Technologies Norfolk), its only flaw was a lack of testing....

The Audi R18 can actually compete against the 908 whereas the R10 can't....

But then we would would need the 11/12 Peugeot too? I'll take em'. Lol.

Maybe LMP2 DLC?

LMP2? Wrong class? I'd actually love to get a Lola LMP chassis (B12/60) and have engine options available to power it, that'd make GT5 amazing.
