It would take some technological know how of the car to disable the pop-up spoiler, and seeing as that car was fresh off the production line when the article was published I seriously doubt it would have been a customer car, who found someone who was able to do what they did to the LP640 so quickly.

Also SportAuto took aerodynamics figures of the car. If the car was customer modified they would have said so underneath the pictures or something, as It wouldnt be accurate for all other customer LP640's.

Poverty, the LP640 has an electronic wing that pops up over certain speeds, not a fixed wing like the car you picuted. As for who might have been able to do that to a Lambo so quickly, it's not rocket science attaching a wing to a Lambo. Lamborghini probably didn't have any production LP640's to hand to lend the magazine and may have lent them a post production model instead. Either that, or it is a customer car. That is not a stockproduction LP640.

I know its not stock production, my theory is that after the series of crashes in the LP640 lambo decided to but a huge rear wing on the back of the car for safety reasons before handing it over to sport auto.

I will get a german reader to read the article to see if we can find out.

None of that makes any sense to me.

Sportauto get STOCK vehicles, and take them round the ring, always using the same driver to make a fair comparison to other vehicles they take round the ring. Im sure a german reading member will soon state why it had the spoiler, but from what I understood on germancarfans it was installed as a safety feature.

I dont see whats relevent if another driver gets a LP640 roound the 'ring faster than Sport Auto.
You don't see what you said? Are you BLIND?

You said.
you do realise that magazine is auto motor und sport dont you. They are arguably the most thorough and indepth car magazine in the world. For the LP640 lap to count around the 'ring the car would have to be a manufacturer stock model. Therefore it isnt a customers car, and why would it be.
That spoiler is NOT an option nor is it offered by Lamborghini. Your statement is, therefore, hypocritical.
I know its not stock production
Then why would the lap count? You said it has to be manufacturer stock model.

Well, your theory is crap when there's only been 2 well-reported LP640 crashes. All the crashes you had posted were Murcielago 6.2's, so if Lamborghini was really worried about crashes, they would have done before the LP640 was produced.

No, it wouldn't. Murcie owners have been doing it for the longest time now.

And the LP640 is not fresh off the line. It's been in production for months now.

Um, you either speak German, or you don't. In your previous posts, you've stated what Germancarfans said, then stated your theory of the spoiler, then said you'll get a German speaking member to read, and NOW, you claim to know what it says under the pictures.

Its as if you cant understand what im saying on multiple different things so im done trying to explain to you.

Not really, you said the car had to be stock for the lap to count and as such, it couldn't possibly be a modified customer car, you then said that you knew it wasn't a stock car.

The bottom line is that car could be anyones, it could be a customers car, but imo it is more likely to be a pre production test model that Lamborghini lent to sportauto, possibly because they didn't have a spare production LP640 to hand.

At the end of the day, that wing is not standard for a stock production LP640 as you tried to say it was. Nor is it offered even as a factory option.

Good. This way, I won't have to read anymore nonsense from a person who hypocrits his own statements.

Plus, I won't have to bother reading through your extremely poor lack of spelling and grammar.

Your theory on pre-production could be a factor as all 300 of the first LP640s were ordered before seen meaning a customer would have to give permission to allow his car to be tested.

But as you said, Poverty claimed that SportAuto did not test customer vehicles and that the vehicle had to be stock for the lap too count. The fact that makes his statement hypocritical was, as you said, the spoiler not being factory-offered.

That was defientely not what I was trying to say at all. What I was trying to say is that maybe lambo felt the need to attach the wing for when magazines take the car out on the track to reduce the number of incidents and increase the downforce. The downforce of this LP640 is very different to the 6.2 even if it does have a redesigned undertray

No, it wouldn't. Murcie owners have been doing it for the longest time now.

And the LP640 is not fresh off the line. It's been in production for months now.

And the sport auto test was months old also, meaning when the car was tested it was fresh off the production line.

I do know what it says under the pictures as I got my mum to read it for me, no mention of the spoiler.

On the sportauto slalom test the car hasnt got the rear wing attached, of what appears to be the same vehicle. I wonder why......

Every Cadillac ever made is better than any Audi ever conceived.

Want proof? I sed so, and a guy in a forum that you have to buy a membership from another website from agrees with me, so you know it has to be DA TRUF. If you don't believe me you're just a stupid German car lover who can't see the light because my 1991 DeVille would eat an M5 for breakfast and crap out an S8 before it had every car in the AMG lineup for brunch.

(Disclaimer: If you are too stupid to see through the blatant sarcasm contained in this post, you should not be allowed to use the internet.)

the amusing thing is, you actually think your ancient caddy is a good car, sarcasm or not

Outrun any more hothatches on the auto-x with your caddy lately?

Nope, it's not. It's the 1/07 issue as supercars.net's SportAuto member posted the same scans.

The only other Sport Auto I can find with te LP640 is a Dec. issue. The LP640s have been delievered since August 2006.

I do know what it says under the pictures as I got my mum to read it for me, no mention of the spoiler.
Wow, so sorry. I guess it's my duty to know your mother speaks German now.

And what does it matter if it says anything about the spoiler? We know the spoiler is not factory-optional. Besides, if your mother speaks German, why didn't you have her read the whole article?

On the sportauto slalom test the car hasnt got the rear wing attached, of what appears to be the same vehicle. I wonder why......
And what does this have to do with anything? Having the car do slalom tests in the way it arrives from the factory is how it's supposed to be done.

Its as if you cant understand what im saying on multiple different things so im done trying to explain to you.
Wow, you really "kept" that statement for a while, didn't you?
Looks like I'm gonna have to read through your "amazing" logic, and grammar again.

Bugger.

The sad thing is that it could probably outrun you easily.

Here is a better question: Ask any part of their (Audi's) "target market" what brand best represents luxury in the country and you are likely to get two answers: Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Unfortunately for Audi, they are still viewed as an intermediate luxury brand like Infiniti, Lexus, and Cadillac... Not a world standard by any means. Now if Audi can overcome that hump, all the power to them, but I just don't see it happening in a reasonable amount of time.

This is because while Audi spent a lot of time creating cars that were competing with Volvo & Saab (80, 100, etc.), BMW was busy building up it's 7-series and 5-series image, moving itself upscale towards Mercedes. The lack of rear-wheel-drive has been, and still is, a serious detriment to their marketability. Whether the front or rear wheels should be driven is irrelevant; from a marketing perspective, rear-drive lends itself much better to luxury cars.

The actual cars are definitely comparable to their German rivals, but the image just doesn't pan out that way...for now. Hopefully for Audi, that will change, and I'm sure the purchase of Bentley will trickle down it's image to the rest of VAG.

And for the record, while I fully remember all the lame "I'm Audi 5000" jokes, I'm intelligent enough to know that Audi's today are just slightly different than Audi's from 20 years ago. I also think that those who aren't intelligent enough to know that difference, aren't intelligent enough to remember the fiasco anyway. ;)
