You're missing the other two ads from that sequence...

The third one is a Subaru ad that says "congratulations to Audi and BMW for winning the beauty contests, from the winner of Engine of the Year."

And the last one is a Bentley ad that shows the Flying Spur and says something like "**** you all."

EDIT: here's the Subaru one:

I imagine the Bentley one would be inappropriate for me to post here, but it doesn't matter since I'm unable to locate it. All are fake of course. For a really good Audi ad, go here:

Im having difficulties finding hong kong figures so Im asking the guys over there if they have knowledge of it. Bare with me, I would presume though seeing as hong Kong is a major city it wont be difficult for them to have bought 10,000 audi cars to take them above the US sale figure in 2006.

Here you go:

autospies.com
With the opening of the new showroom, Audi is further expanding its presence on the Chinese market. Vehicle sales have been increasing at a double-digit percentage rate for a decade. In the first nine months of this year alone, vehicle sales in China and Hong Kong went up to 60,467 (584 of which in Hong Kong) compared with 36,658 for the same period last year. This represents an increase of 64.9 percent.

These are obviously a previous years figures, but 584 sales in Hong Kong isn't going to make a massive difference to the overall figure.

*edit*
Ive found the figures for hong kong!!!!!!!!!!!1

58,128, is the number of cars audi sold there!

Are you sure?

58,128 up from 584 the previous year is a hell of a increase! - i very much doubt that Audi (or anyone) could possibly sell 58,000 cars in a year to a population of 7 million!

So that on top of the other odd 80,000 something, makes china audi's second biggest market, and number one export market :D

I've found the figures for Hong Kong!!!!!!!!!

23 is the number of cars Audi sold there.

Note how neither of us cited sources. Oh, and I'm calling crap on yours - you're saying that Audi sold the same number of cars in Italy (population 56 million) as Hong Kong (population 7 million). Not a chance in hell. My stat is right though.

Ok I was wrong. Hands up.

Audi have just opened a showrrom there so it would have been impossible to sell 10,000 vehicles in two months.

However as it stands today china could very well be a bigger market than america, I would put up £20 to a charity of your choice if I was wrong, but seeing as audi is releasing all these new cars, and with the new ad campaign hittin the states sales might pick up.

Apologies.

Could doesn't equal is. No one was arguing on wether or not China could, just that they arn't. On the point that they could be, I agree, they could and over the next few years probably will be, and not just for Audi.

If we went by januarys sales figures they are. Last year each month audi sold like 10% extra cars in china. Actually dont pick me up on that untill I have found some evidence :O

Well you haven't. You have a rep for pulling figures from nowhere and not backing them up, what would you do if you were arguing with someone with that rep?

I woudl say that I would require some sources on certain things.

Lets see if teh car sales for audi in china will be higher than the US next month.

No, let's see if they're higher over the year, that's what counts. But even if they are, you were still wrong and you still haven't proven anyone else wrong.

Ive proven that there are still hot hatches, and that audi's are better than caddies and jaguars.

I'd like to get some response to this.

Also the STS-V did the Nurburgring in 8:31. (source)

Seeing as a 4.2 V8 S4 Avant did it in 8:29, so I would be very surprised if the S8 was significantly faster than the STS-V if faster at all.

You know what I just realised? This argument is silly, because the STS-V isnt even in the same segment as the S8. The S8 is a much larger car. The STS-V is A6/5er/E-class sized.

This makes the STS-V even worse now as its lost its major price advantage, and its up against more nimble vehicles.

How many American cars have you driven? Or have you just heard Clarkson's biased and often inaccurate ranting?

Non, I have absolutely no desire to either, unless it was a viper or Z06. Havent heard just clarksons rantings, but also my mum's who used to live over in the states. TBH the average european adult sees american cars as under par. My generation dont see it that way though due to celebrities pimping american vehicles. Celebrities can afford the best tjings in life, and as they have an american car it must be the best thing money can buy.

The S8 is only 2 inches longer than the STS-V, rides on a 0.5 inch longer wheelbase, has less front headroom and 0.1 in more rear headroom, less front legroom, and less rear legroom.

So while it is slightly bigger outside, the S8 is smaller than the STS-V in almost every interior dimension. So in fact, the STS-V is not only faster, more powerful, and $17,000 cheaper, but also bigger inside than a S8.

The CTS-V is acutally 5-series/E-class sized, even though it is always compared to smaller cars, and the STS-V is actually 7-series/S-calss sized, although it is always compared to smaller cars.

The average American adult also sees American cars as under par, laughably. For the most part they are. But there are a few good ones out there ;)

Ive proven that there are still hot hatches

Its just a shame that wasn't the point being discussed really, neither Famine or I disputed that Hot Hatches still exist (I can promise in my time I have driven far more of them that you so I would be rather silly to say as much), what we disputed was your claim that 'plenty' are available at over 180 bhp and 1,200 kilos, that you certainly did not prove.

Rather you listed six cars, of which only one 'may' exactly meet your conditions (and that's not actually on sale yet - hence the may), none of the other could meet your own criteria without some 'stretching' of those criteria. Hell two of the six were not even production models (the ABt and Cooper S Works); one was out of production and its replacement over the weight limit and another under the power limit.

It is rather a poor show when you can't even prove a point when you set the terms and conditions yourself. One car that's not yet in production is not 'plenty' by anyone's definition.

Scaff

BTW - I still don't see a link to the site which those figures are posted on, despite you now being asked multiple times.

what figures?

Polo GTI cup. That meets the requirements, and I thought the weight figure was around 1200kg. I would never have said I could find several vehicles under 1200kg, and the figures of the manufacturer includes a 68kg driver, and half a tank of petrol (or is it a full tank?) So if we take that away quite a few of the cars do indeed weigh 1200kg and under.

These figures.....

Official Figures of big 3 germans.

...as far as I can see you have still not posted a link to them at all, I don't mind if you need to register to view the forums in question. You have been asked for the link and as far as I can see have not yet provided it.

Polo GTI cup. That meets the requirements

Correct in all but two respects.

Firstly it's 180PS, not 180hp (178hp quoted).
Second it was never officially sold in the UK.

I can provide a link and you can see yourself that you have no access unless you sign up.
I'm good at being a smart ass, so why don't you post pictures of these amazing forum statistics using everyone's friend:

Otherwise, STFU.

and that audi's are better than caddies and jaguars.
*sigh*

Having been in many Jaguars myself, and a passenger in a test drive in an A6, I would probably prefer the S-Type, mainly because it's more comfortable and feels a better place to be. The A6 had a rather firm ride, and just felt a little boring to sit in. Yes, it was better quality and the refinement was quite a bit better, but the A6 is a new car, and the S-Type has been out several years now, so you would expect an improvement. It can still compete now, despite its age. And with the X-Type, yes, I admit that that's definitely falling behind now...

And, as Scaff has linked to articles previously, it's not as one-sided as you make it out to be. Other cars are rated better than the Audis, some the Audis DO come out top.

But I ask you this: you tend to mostly post figures and facts from German magazines/websites. Don't you think that they would be a little biased towards themselves?

Obviously not smart enough as I offered to take a screen print. Keep up.

I do agree that they are biased, just how every car mag is towards manufacturers of its own nation. But the s-class is unarguably king of the segment at the moment, and the fact that the audi came 2nd to it in all the comparos proves that the A8 is being majorly underestimated by the people of the forum.

I find that people underestimate audi as a whole, and they think that I regard audi too highly, but thats only because I know of things they do not. I spend alot of time on the german car forums, and audi are making major strides. Porsche recognises that to the point there are rumours of them prying the brand away from VW.

Apologies for the double post.

Yet quite a bit less childish as every time you start an argument. So perhaps the advice isn't too far off base.

Now now, it was you that posted the aggresive and unecessarily confrontational post. Dont try and tar me with your brush.

Oh, it was definitely aggressive. But I'd say it was about in line confrontational-wise.

Don't you work for Audi? Or wash them? Or something?

I'm sorry, but I just have to check this because I can't believe what I'm reading. You haven't driven any American cars and yet you claim Audis are better? How can you possibly be opinionated without your own opinion?

Have you proved anything? Well, after reading your posts in this thread, you've proved one thing to me. It's got nothing to do with cars, though...

Calculated deductions. How do I know a lada is crap even though Ive never driven one? Oh and the fact that GM and ford are having to import european models, as their own are so dismal, and I have driven fords and vauxhalls, and the latter is absoluetly nothing to rave about. Therefore I deduct that they must be desperate.
