Before anyone jumps on me, I know there are a few threads already with people arguing for and against the latest update and i'm not trying to start another thread for the same arguments. I'm just trying to get a clearer idea about the numbers for and against the recent changes.

Obviously everyone has different levels of 'real world' experience and there are too many variables to poll them all so...

Generally speaking, are you happy with the changes or not?

I'm happy with the update. The barrier contact penalties on HSR are much better, the handling seems better to me, the grip more realistic without making the cars too easy to drive (especially with the recommended tyre settings in the manual) and the new sounds are better too 👍

Yes I'm happy about the collision with walls penalty, even though I've been the victim of it a few times!

I say no:

No Suzuka.
No sub-600 pp races.
Penalized for actually driving the line, meaning getting used as a cushion in tight corners and then, somehow, incurring the penalty.
Exhaust sound too loud, can't hear spinning tires or mis-shifts.

I would include private or more discriminate rooms as opposed to just expert/pro but it is just a demo.

Happy....for now. ;) I am really curious to what the Fall update will bring us. Private rooms and more customizable races (e.g. Catch-up yes/no, ASM yes/no) I hope.... :)

Very satisfied. Cleaner rendering, better AA, DOF and FPS for me. But the most important is new pro physics, it's perfectly nailed. Now I can finally decide to drift or to drive the curve the clean way without fear of stupid ice spin on 1/5 gas pedal in the fifth gear on the dry pavement banked curve and with slick tyres. You can simply feel the grip now and there's obvious border between grip and skid.

Happy with the update. It took some time though to get used to the G25 again. What I really like is that close racing is now possible without penalties for a little bumping and not losing control of the car right away.

Im very happy, Hard for me to be a judge, i had the jpn version and once the leaderboards reset for spec II i stopped playing it, but now back on full time and loving it so much from spec 1 to this is mind blowingly awesome.

and obviously I didn't mean any of the "soon to be changed again" features like the track & event selections...

I'm very happy with the 1st August update, specially with the g25 physics upgrades and Bov sounds.

Because you stated "overall" I voted yes. The benefits for me outweighed everything else. Just not allowing disconnects was enough to shift the scales in my opinion. They still have work to do in the penalty system so it will be interesting to see how they approach that.

I love it, the prof physics are incredibly improved and its awesome now, haveing so much fun drivinf 40 lap races with AI to 95 0r 100 :) Great fun!
Graphics have also improved plus the sound...awesome!

For the most part I'm happy. But, the one thing I am disappointed in is the collision/penalty system between cars. I went home for lunch today and ran my BNR34 at Suzuka Intermediate for 3 races. I was penalized for rubbing doors with another driver. By rubbing I mean we were side by side in the ess's after the front stretch and then again in the chicaine before the finish line and a 3rd time at the left hand hairpin in the middle of the course. Neither of us was attempting to push the other. It was only that those were the places at which we converged on the track. The rest of the time I was chasing him or he was catching up to me. Instead of it being considered good competitive racing, the server was penalizing me. Another driver was penalized similarly when he came up next to me in a tight spot. He wasn't trying to run over me - he didn't even bump. We simply rubbed doors. What's up with that? Why does PD continue to fail in this area?

I know it's only one aspect of the game. And, the game is great overall - I'm not going to stop playing over this.

Maybe it'll get better once we have private rooms. Then, maybe we'll be able to run a 20 or 30 lap race. As it is, there's no time to set up a pass. Drivers have to take every opportunity to pass each other because the races are too short. Why not create multiple online races within each skill class in varying durations? It would be nice to run a 10 lap Intermediate race at the Suzuka track or have the option of running the 3 lap version instead.

I am happy to see that the tire issues were addressed. Thank you PD. But, there's still room for improvement in future updates.

Im not that happy but Im ok with it as Im used to the changes.

Im not happy that the quality of driving and the stange penalties but I will survive 👍

I'm fine with the changes.

However, I've noticed that once it says "Joining race", if you look at Players Met, only one racer shows up, instead of everyone in the race.

I noticed something similar - the first day it add everyone to the Players Met section but now I think it has filled up or something. What seems to be happening to me now is that its only adding people who bump into me in the race. Maybe that's how they define Players Met as physical contact. ;)

Not happy. Still severly lacking in online mode, where are the options to set up private races or turn everyone to ghost cars to stop the obvious bumper car style of driving that is still plagueing the game?

Terrible, terrible stuff. I'm selling my PS3, I simply can't enjoy this game.

whats wrong with the quality of driving???
please explain....

spyrrari.

Happy. They haven't quite fixed everything yet (I'm still getting penalised for people crashing into me) but it's a step in the right direction.
