Not happy. Still severly lacking in online mode, where are the options to set up private races or turn everyone to ghost cars to stop the obvious bumper car style of driving that is still plagueing the game?

Terrible, terrible stuff. I'm selling my PS3, I simply can't enjoy this game.

Gordon Bennet there's always one isn't there? Exercise a little patience and these things will arrive. Maybe, if you know the first thing about video game design, you could fly over to PD's offices in Japan and give them a hand designing these things?

Or, you can assume they're already working on them but need to make sure they'll actually work before they implement them. They aren't releasing stuff slowly to take the mickey, they'd doing it because they need to actually design, test, alter and test again before they make it available.

I think the 86% of people so far who've voted that they're happy with the updates would disagree that it's "terrible, terrible stuff"...

Great update, only complaint is the removal of powershifting. The transmission simulation is soo ridiculous that they might as well scrap it all together. Until they can provide something half decent they might as well remove any penalties for clutchless and powershifting.

pfffff, thanks man,you took the words out of my mouth there, seems that still people join this site only to complain...i meen, look what we have got allready, the best PROLOGUE since the beginning of the gt series!!!and there is so much more coming:crazy:

well,at least its good to read that most of the core fans are really happy with what PD are doing:sly:

spyrrari.

The real request from me would be that a handful of GTP members get to to assist with the test part - now that would be AWESOME!

i think they are doing just fine LinPark, though your suggestion would be a real nice thing to be particapating in.....:sly:

I must say, I wouldn't mind doing a bit of beta testing! Though given my current financial situation I'd be expecting payment as well as the chance to test GT5 before everyone else... :D

In a world where almost every single game is online, things like that should come as standard. So when they don't include them in a big update, but DO include a new intro 'movie' and a new garage scene aswell as music, it annoys me a little.

As for the 86% of people who voted that they're happy with the update disagreeing with me, of course they would. They voted that they are pleased with the update. Just because 86% of people liked it doesn't mean I have to.

The topic starter asked if we are happy with the changes, and I'm not. The attitude you adopted in your reply came across as very rude.

Thats a fair point and i agree with what you've said. But i do think the original poster was probably talking in terms of what the update did in terms of the new features/gameplay changes/tires etc rather than the private rooms/damage that has been said to come sometime down the line.

Also i think you have to cut the game a little slack in terms of what it should or shouldnt have feature wise, in terms of online lobbies and the like seeing as it is the 'prologue' to the full game, heck they could have dumped it on us as is and left it. But we get updates every other month and a change up of online events every 2 weeks which is alot more than some devs do for their full retail games. If Private Lobbies dont turn up in GT5 retail, then IMO, you have every right to whinge about it, but being a half retail 'prologue' game, if you've put as many hours into it as i have, you've probably got 3 full retail price games money's worth out of it for a game thats half the price of regular games...thats not really something to complain about.

As for the update, i like the changes, all round, i think it advances GT5P further and is a step in the right direction.

Because you stated "overall" I voted yes. The benefits for me outweighed everything else. Just not allowing disconnects was enough to shift the scales in my opinion. They still have work to do in the penalty system so it will be interesting to see how they approach that.

I don't think it's a secret, but you can still quit races without turning off the machine. It's just not as straightforward as "pause"+"quit" during the race and it will cost you a minute or two to get back to matching for a race (might as well finish race or sit if you don't want to drive). I have noticed very few disconnects and dropouts during races, so no need to discuss it.

Anyway, I vote positive! I really want to see longer races and tire wear in the next update. I think they are easier to implement than damage and private rooms and should come sooner.

I'm generally happy with the update, new car sounds are much improved, barrier penaltys improved, although i've notived that there is still wall riding going on in the Daytona Super speedway TT event, so the barrier penalties could do with a slight improvement. Ramming penalties are virtually the same as before. I have been rammed into on a few occassions and I have received the ramming penalty! Very annoying. Also the tyre compounds are too grippy, but with an update including tyre wear, then I think that will solve that issue. overall i'm happy with the update, but the penalty system does need sorting out. Hopefully the Autumn update will completely transform GT5p.

I'm quite impressed by this, reading a lot of the current threads I thought the 'unhappy' percentage would be much higher. 86% is pretty much a landslide wouldn't you say? I'm happy too!

my network has bin down and I tried it first yesterday! must say I was nervous after reading all the negative comments, but my first impression was pretty good:)

the steering weel feels a little loose though....but this can be fixed with force feedback adjustment??

You're entitled to your opinion, I never disagreed with that and it's not like you're the only one who isn't unhappy with the game either, as there are still a number of people who've voted "no".

You criticise my attitude as being rude, which if you read it again isn't the case (maybe a little sarcastic though...) but your attitude in your first post came across as a bit spoilt, to tell the truth:

Terrible, terrible stuff. I'm selling my PS3, I simply can't enjoy this game.

Selling your PS3 just because you dislike a few aspects of a game? I've heard of people selling the game before because they were fed up with it but this one takes the biscuit. You were either being ironic or very, very narrow minded.

What I suggest, as I suggest quite a lot to others who complain about the driving standards in GT5 (and they aren't that bad anyway if you're driving in pro races, maybe one or two bad apples every couple of races), is that you go to the GT5:P race events sub-forum, look for what times the rest of us are racing, and minimise your chances of having a bad race by competing against the clean, fast and fair racers on this forum 👍

Regardless, I wouldn't have called that update a "big" one anyway. The fall update will be the major one.

I only bought it for Prologue. No point in me keeping it anymore, I've played the game a fair bit and just found it annoying. I've no idea why my attitude came across as spoilt, I bought the console, what's the problem in selling it? I've not yet found a single game for the PS3 that I enjoy that I couldn't have for cheaper on the 360, where I also have more friends to play against. I might aswell sell the console and put the money towards my new car.

Also, why does selling it make me very very narrow minded? There's no point at all in me keeping what would be a £300 desk decoration.

Well I'm glad to see that some people have the money to buy a console for what's basically a demo game, then decide they don't like it and sell the whole lot.

All I can say is research your future purchases better.....I would never advise someone to buy a console (particularly the most expensive one of the lot!) just for one game. Even if it is Gran Turismo.

What you should do is sit down, look at the available games and future games for each and decide which has the games you want on it.

Theres no problem with you selling it...it just seems like you dont care about wasting money is all.

overall i am not happy with the new settings they have for the update. the tire wear i dont like because, the way i set my cars determines what tires i use, now if my tire wear goes down then my vehicle settings get all messed up. the guys that ram "bump" r not getting penilized for it as much. i found they were getting stricter penelties before te download. and theres still no race for the people with the Ferrari F2007, which is upsetting really.

Well, I bought my PS3 only because of Gran Turismo.
Same goes for PS2 and PS1. :)

Voted YES 👍

This is afterall a prolouge - essentially a demo. That fact alone should of rang a bell in your head and made you realise that it's going to have some flaws in the game.
Buying a PS3 simply for one game that you never researched before buying it - seems a rather a hasty decision. I think it's far from perfect, but give it time and it'll all come good when GT5 is finally released.

I did research it, I looked into all of the games available, played Prologue at work for a while, looked at the Blu Ray titles too. But all of it was dissapointing compared to what I can get on my 360 and HD DVD. Essentially, I did get it for Prologue but had I realised the 'game' would be so monotonous and online would be so terrible, I wouldn't have bothered.

Read above.

It's not just that. I bought the console got GT5: Prologue mainly but I was hoping for some released that would add to my enjoyment. The only thing I've actually wanted to keep the console for is MGS4. Everything else has been a let down.

Had I known I wouldn't like the games I'd never have bought it but there was no way of me finding out without buying the console and trying the games! I think it's hilarious how everyone is taking the stance of "You should have done this" when I've only made 2-3 posts about the situation. How come everyone is trying to tell me what to do all of a sudden?

I worked hard to earn the money, I spent the money on what I wanted, it turned out to be a let down so I'm selling it.

Not loving the update exactly at this moment in GT5 developing, just hoping that this is a step on better things to come. I reckon that if damage, tire wear, fuel etc is to come, they had to change things, the way cars reacted, I found the cars pre-update more challenging to drive but maybe the physics were created without damage, tire wear and more importantly other humans into consideration, TT cars that were put on an online environment. Have anyone noticed that the car reacts to bumps somewhat different now than before? There is a saying in my country "to give a longer jump you have to take some steps back" I'm confident PD has something on his mind other than appeal to the masses... just fear that they don't! LOL

You do realise HD DVD is dead, right? If you're going to want to be watching any more HD titles released from now on you'll need a Blu-Ray player anyway. I'm not a big film buff so I wouldn't care either way, but if you enjoy your films then you'll want to be either buying a new Blu-Ray player anyway, or keeping the PS3. And if you're keeping the PS3 then give GT5P a chance and then enjoy GT5 when it comes out 👍

I'm happy, loving the improved engine sounds, keep up the good work...
Now, what i want to be improved is the tire sounds and tire smoke effects and Nurb track and i will be happy again :)
Oh, and please, private rooms online...
