That makes no sense

Well mate its pretty simple, i state an opinion & you have a problem with it & wont let me be, take note at how some other members are replying.

LOL, no longer a mechanic, got my ticket and got out, problem was if you wanted to open your own workshop theres heaps of established competiton in every area, To earn a decent wage working for someone you pretty much have to work like a dog 6 days a week for <$1000/week.

Going Mobile is not an option

Not alot of money with performance work unless you solely base your business on it, plus alot of ongoing work with problematic cars that need constant attention.

Admitedly our workshop was based close to a Major Holden dealership in which we saw alot of cars come from who were denied warranty claims for BS reason, Clients were never happy and Holden would always want to charge an arm & a leg for repairs.

Also worth noting that we were opposite a Mercedes dealership which also brought us alot of work from disgrntled customers who werent happy paying exuberent servicing costs & again warranty issues.

Will never forget replacing timing chains on late model Merc V6 & V8's, although not nearly as many mercedes/european cars would have issues like that of the holdens & fords that used to come in.

The most reliable ford we found to be the AU series 3, it went a bit downhill from there.

Yep most mechanics change jobs after a while (short); i totally understand where you are coming from now seeing what you had to work on taking the crap jobs while the dealership mechanics prance around in their spotless striped overalls. I still like the good old Aussie cars which deserve to be recognised in this game and you would have loved to have worked on them, easy just pull the motor out after 100,000 ks put another one in.

Whatever mate, you've made your opinion pretty clear but there's no need to try and force it on others.

Supported criticism is one thing but what do you expect when you jump in and just say they're all crap... Did you read the preceeding posts?

Im going to stop replying to you after this very post.

I thought this thread was for "Aussie DLC?"

It's totally gone downhill.

If you can call Pushrod V8's badass then sure we have badass cars that fall apart after 30,000km's or so.

(yes i know the ford v8 is an OHC design)

30,000? Well my dad's 250rwkw WK Statesman has just under 60,000 on it at the moment and it's never gone wrong, a mate of mine has an SS ute with 150,000 on it and thats never gone wrong.. so what are you talking about?

Agreed, we had a perfectly civil conversation going on until someone had to be "that guy".

Anyway...

I wonder what PD's plans are going forward regarding DLC. We keep hearing about the possibility of new tracks and more premium cars, but it would be interesting to see PD's long term plan.

I mean surely there must come a point where they start focusing on GT6, or do you think there is a chance they will keep updating GT5 for years to come? I'm sure I remember reading an article a long time ago about Sony/PD personnel being spotted taking data at Mount Panorama... It's probably wishful thinking though :(

Well i sure hope they keep updating for at least the next 2-3 years. We waited long enough to get it (even then it wasn't complete).

It would be nice if we (Aussies) were to get some sort of DLC. We aren't even eligible for the GT academy that's underway :(

I mean come on give us something, please.

I know someone with a 2001 Clubsport. It's done around 120,000 km and it's still running fine, and never had any major problems. Reliability isn't a problem though in the game is it? Your only argument against Aussie V8's is that they break down alot, so if they didn't break down they'd be a good car, right? Well why not put them in a game where they can't break down... You're a fool, what kind of Australian preffers a pissy V-tec over a 6 littre V8?

Anyway, you clearly don't want Aussie cars in the game, so go have a play with a GT5 ricer, these hundreds to choose from!

1974 Torana would be nice

Standard SS, L34 and the later A9X (both sedan and hatch). Also XU-1.

E38 and E49 Chargers as well!

If we're really shooting for the moon, how about a "hypothetical" group of the still-born Phase IV GTHO, the XU-2 Torana and E55 Charger (the latter the real one, not the two-barrel carby auto-only shadow that made it to sale).

More realistically, the RPO83 XA Falcon (used some Phase IV components) and the XC Cobras.

How about Mad Max's Interceptor?:scared:

I reckon older cars are a bit of an ask, but how could I forget the Winfield GTR? If we got that, surely we would have to get the Dick Johnson Sierra as well though... Where does it stop?

That thing was an absolute monster. I saw an interview with Dick and he said they were putting out around 600hp in race trim, but they ran it on the dyno without the turbo one day and it made 90hp! The turbo lag must have been ridiculous... No wonder they had so much trouble driving them in the wet.

Yeah, they pretty much go hand in hand. There was a lengthy discussion regarding this car back in the other Aussie thread a while ago, but I'm still surprised this car never got a start in Gran Turismo.

Yes it was developed in Australia and we're a small market, but it's still a Japanese car and it was the quickest R32 touring car in the world at the time and basically changed the scene of Australian motorsport. If that's not worth admission into a "automotive encyclopedia", I don't know what is...

i wish we could have Easten Creek and Oran Park, how good would than be but this is just me dreaming:sly:

Well considering Oran Park has been demolished and Eastern Creek can't even manage to host a round of the V8 Supercars anymore, I doubt we will be seeing them in a game any time soon.

Homebush would be pretty cool though, I wish Codemasters would ditch GRID and revive the V8 Supercar/Race Driver series. Race Driver 3 was so good (and it had the best Bathurst track model in any game to date), then they ditched it... :(

Yeah CM should ditch GRID and go back to Race driver, it's a much better game. I believe that Shift 2 actually has the best Bathurst track model to date. The track may be a bit wide but atleast they go the elevation right for the first time in any game

Yes that is true, microwave oven.

Have you played the version in Race Driver 3? It's the same as the one in Rfactor and it's pretty much spot on in terms of width and elevation.

In fact the only other games I can remember that actually had Bathurst were earlier Codemasters games (Race Driver & Toca World Touring Cars) and EA Sports' V8 Challenge from way back.

A dealership mechanic still does a honest days work,it does have it`s advantages compared to working on older cars in a grubby corner workshop. However new cars are so tech savvy you almost need to be a computer/elec engineer degree to fix any of the elec gremlins they now develop.
