What is probably the stumbling block is getting all PD's resources mobilized half way around the world to detail one single track.

SNIP

LOL! Australia is right by Japan!

Going to Nurburgring to map that is actually more like going half way around the world to PD.

They also went to Italy and America just to model one track in each country, so I don't think that'd be a reason for them not to include Bathurst. As someone else said, a twelve hour/ 1000km race would be awesome. And you know you could trust PD to replicate the track properly *coughShift2cough* :sly:

Who would want the latest HSV's? :yuck::sly:

My point exactly. Why would anyone buy the E3, its so damn ugly. Sure its an awesome car underneath, but I would take the E Series 1 with 8 less kW and not have to look at this hideous thing anyday.

It looks like something out of a Need For Speed game...

Well I realize its not a beauty contest but they are still the top performance Australian v8 models and it would be a crime to not include both for competition reasons :D

Highly doubt we are even a blip on PD's radar at the moment though.

Yeah you're probably right. Who knows what they're up to. But considering we still haven't had a patch to improve the AI or to fix all the sound and graphical glitches, I highly doubt they are hard at work modelling Mount Panorama or the latest HSV/FPVs.

Oh well, can't hurt to dream. Forza 3 included the HSV W427 and a bunch of V8 Supercars, maybe Forza 4 will give us Bathurst...

Im sorry but as much as I love watching the V8 Supercar and Yute races when possible this whingin pommie would much rather see a nice old Black V8 Falcon XB Coupe ;)

p.s I got mates that live in Perth and a friend who plays professional Super League over in Aus so give the pommie some stick if my taste in cars sucks I enjoy the banter :D

Hey, I won't pass up an opportunity to rag on a pom! It's called a ute, not a yute, and there is no such thing as Super League anymore. I assume you mean NRL?

What I won't give you stick about though is your taste in cars, the XB Coupe is a fine machine. I'll admit I do miss the old days of Australian Touring Cars when the cars were heavily related to real road cars and were often driven to the track! The V8 Supercars are awesome to watch but the cars have become very controlled in order to control costs and promote competitiveness.

I would be content with no more Aussie cars as long as we had the mountain :).

Had never spelt it before so went for the obvious lol and with it been the Super League over here I guessed they'd maybe kept it in a similar context over there as we seem to play quite a bit against each other when we get chance :)

As for agreeing on the car atleast we aint all bad poms lol

^ Haha, no you're alright. I went to Goodwood last year and there was an entire category devoted to 50 years of the Great Race (Bathurst). I was amazed to see how well known it was over there, and it was awesome to see some of the Aussie classics running the hill climb (Dick Johnson Sierra, Moffat XC Falcon, Perkins VR Commodore to name a few 👍).

Why do you doubt that? Bathurst is one of the best tracks in the world and the recent inclusion of FIA GT3 spec cars in the Bathurst 12 Hour is going to lift its global profile. Not to mention V8 Supercars are now an official FIA championship.

If you ask me, Gran Turismo would be the best possible place to promote the circuit and the 12 Hour/1000 races. If anything, the circuit owners should be contacting PD :).

Well duh.. I'm not daft. I doubt it because they put 3 Aussie cars in the game all which are standard, and unless they release DLC with Premium Holdens and Fords then I really don't see how having Bathurst would make any sense.

I mean, Premium cars would have to come first or cars plus track in one DLC Pack which could be a big download (Maybe?).

Edit... This would be rather epic matched with Bathurst.

Well duh.. I'm not daft.[/IMG]

I wasn't implying that at all. My point is that Bathurst is more famous than any current model Ford or Holden. Beside, you don't necessarily need to include Australian cars to include Bathurst (although it would be nice). I can see PD including a new track before they include a bunch of new premium models that most people have never heard of...

Edit: And even though I still think that car is hideous, you're right, it would be very fun to drive around the mountain :).

Most of you know my position on Australian cars in GT5 from the last Aussie thread but to re-confirm my point of view:

Not worth having any aussie cars cause there all crap, simple as that.

Continue.

You again... Why would you bother wasting your time writing that comment? There's no room for you in this thread so go waste your time somewhere else

....and I thought I was a tool. *Sniff sniff* I smell a ricer within the presence of this thread.

Just saying when you realy break it down as to why there are no Aussie Cars in GT5 & why we most likely wont see any DLC is because of that simple reason.

You guys have to remeber theres always 2 sides to an argument, Im just the other side, thats all.

How are Australian cars crap? Sure, I'm not Australian but they've got some badass cars that people like me envy.

If you can call Pushrod V8's badass then sure we have badass cars that fall apart after 30,000km's or so.

(yes i know the ford v8 is an OHC design)

The pushrod design is simple but effective, and the Corvette ZR1 is testament to that (as are the current Holdens/HSVs).

You obviously had one bad experience with a Commodore or something but honestly you haven't got a clue what you're talking about.

Go pollute some other thread before you look like even more of ignorant fool...

Haha, true. Although if PD had have done as poor a job with V8 Supercars as they did with NASCAR, I'm happy they weren't included.

Hopefully PD get their act together for GT6 and give us descent AI and damage systems and overhaul the whole racing aspect of the game. Then V8 Supercars would be awesome!

You have a point here :) It would have been a missed oportunity... just like they did with the Super GT license... I mean... only 3 races???? :yuck: That one is the one that confuses me the most given the fact that... well... it's the most popular racing series in Japan...:dunce:

And...

That's why I said Aussie cars need so much love from PD :) Those look fantastic :dopey:

LOL, um ok, Pushrod design is old and ineficient by todays standards, the ZR1 is a plastic pig just like every other GM model and really isnt that great.

No I didnt have a bad experiance with a Commodore, When I left school I done my automotive apprenticeship and worked in the same workshop for a little over 5 years.

The cars that would come in most often with major issues were Commodores & Falcons, I know you may think this is the case simply because theres alot of them around but let me assure you its not, its pretty LOL when you have to replace a heater core on a car with 50,000km or a timing chain rubber gasket on a car's 2nd ever service. the amount of times radiators blew up on these 2 models of cars is hilarious.

What im trying to say is that build quality is super cheap and thus renders the car crap. I can find you thousands of webpages built by angry holden & ford customers who got the S**t end of the stick with there cars.

It shouldn't have anything to do with population. Australian cars are sold in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, America, UAE, and probably others that I'm unaware of. The Vauxhall VXR8 (HSV Clubsport) is sold in the UK, which has a population of over 60 million... If GT5 really was the car encyclopedia PD claim it to be, they would put the effort into including at least a couple of cars from all the significant markets around the world.

Not only that, but Australia have one of the top top touring car championships in the world, host a round of the Formula 1 and, as mentioned, have one of the best race tracks in the world.

Fair enough if they couldn't get the licences to companies like Porsche, but given the amount of time and money that went into GT5, there's no reason why they couldn't include at least a couple of Australian cars.

I hear what your saying and they are all valid points and correct to boot 👍,but due to viability stand point,we are simply not worth the effort and outlay for the small financial return PD would get from creating any tracks and premium or more standard cars from aus.
Why do you you think we pay $3000 for big tv`s in 2011 when they are going for $1500-1800 new in the states in 2010? We are a small and isolated market thats why. :dunce:

Sadly, you are right. As much as I hate to admit it, you can't fight supply and demand. That's why I buy most of my stuff on Ebay from the states :).

And Type S Tony, don't bother mate. No one wants to hear your crap.

So there are no crappy cars in GT5 on your side of the argument? Looser i think in this argument. As for Ausie cars i like the good old cars, Lx Torana hatch, the Ford Gt even the new Holden and ford are heaps better than 100’s of the crap cars in GT5. You probably prefer the prius do you?

Ahh tony, Pushrod`s are a old design, they aren`t as generally effcient as OHC we all know that. But while GM can still make them effcient enough(Gen 3 and 4`s still use less fuel and make more power than smaller ford N/A BOSS V8`s) and they are cheaper to construction than OHC engines then GM will still build them until it is no longer viable for them to do so,GM is out to make money and if a pushrod engine will still do the job as good as a OHC engine then they wont make an expensive change(why do you think they dropped the LT5 V8)

As for the quality of commodore`s and falcons, you would already know that most components for both makes come from the same various supplier companys, just modified to suit the intended application of each model/make. Some are just more prone to fail in one car than the other, due to circumstances out of their control. (VT heater cores fail as no one changes coolant when they should and they were made thin to save money on costs so they fail early due to corrosion)

Type S Tony is a disgruntled Mechanic who is frustrated with his job. Being a mechanic you will only see the cars that need attention. The majority of fords and Holden i have owned for the passed 30 years have been problem free, but i only hang onto them till 200.000 k's and service them me self, so that probably not the cars you talking about.

Whatever dude, just stating my opinion just like you would yours.

LOL, no longer a mechanic, got my ticket and got out, problem was if you wanted to open your own workshop theres heaps of established competiton in every area, To earn a decent wage working for someone you pretty much have to work like a dog 6 days a week for <$1000/week.

Going Mobile is not an option

Not alot of money with performance work unless you solely base your business on it, plus alot of ongoing work with problematic cars that need constant attention.

Admitedly our workshop was based close to a Major Holden dealership in which we saw alot of cars come from who were denied warranty claims for BS reason, Clients were never happy and Holden would always want to charge an arm & a leg for repairs.

Also worth noting that we were opposite a Mercedes dealership which also brought us alot of work from disgrntled customers who werent happy paying exuberent servicing costs & again warranty issues.

Will never forget replacing timing chains on late model Merc V6 & V8's, although not nearly as many mercedes/european cars would have issues like that of the holdens & fords that used to come in.

The most reliable ford we found to be the AU series 3, it went a bit downhill from there.
