the 300ZX sounds like and Aussie truck lol...but ive driven one twin turbo'd and it doesnt sound like that at all...maybe different exhaust or different amounts of turbo boost

You don't get it...

They don't have any soul to them and sound like they're being strained. Give me a minute here, the only V6 to impress me... (Will be a WMV file. Sorry... Can't upload to youtube)

Well I like the ZX sound, sounds reasonably tough. I like the Commodore sound better though. Anyway here's a vid of a tractor. I went through some wierd videos to find this including tractor drifting and tractor square dancing (no I'm not kidding)

Edit: Rotary, did you hear the Commodore?

Video fixed. Commodore sounds awesome, takes all kinds, see I hate rotary sounds.

Or a little higher pitched and it sounds like a rotary. See I can do that too. I would watch the Syclone except I don't do downloads, never know what viruses your computer willl get. Are there any youtube vids with a similar sound?

OK I watched it, and that's a V6? That's a crappy sounding one yes, but I still think that the Commodore and 300ZX above sound good. Would you like a video of the new direct inject Cadillac V6? It almost sounds like a small V8. I'll get you it if I can.

Edit: Here, try this V6

My Gemini was an animal from 4000rpm all the way to 8000rpm and ran 13s without a turbo or nitrous from a 1.6L SOHC motor (so pushrods do go fast Leo!!). I didn't need to be above 6k like a VTEC does.

Mafs!!

*cough*SOHC stands for Single OverHead Camshaft.. :sly: and I've had 1.6 SOHC, and when I finally got it working somehow after major overhaul, it still was far from a rocket.:ouch:

To me, boxer-4 sounds like Saab 96's V4 ( that was made out of Ford V6, hence, there are 96 Saabs with V6's out there ).. anyway, they do sounds similar, subaru's flat four and saab's V4.. must be the exhaust or something.

In tone, yes. But it's still got the moan of a V6.

And Hess's truck kicks your arse. Don't argue about that. :p

Hess's truck sounds like crap, what times does it run? It looks fairly average. Beat my car though but I only just got it really didn't I?

You paid NO attention to that vid, did you?

It runs 9s. 8s are in the future once they get it to hook. If you listen/watch the vid, the truck isn't coming on until a good 200ft down track. When set up to drop all 20psi of boost, it just disappears in a cloud of smoke.

Well look out, I don't remember seeing the times in the video but if they were there then settle down- geez. Those are damn good times for a big heavy un-aerodynamic truck. What power does it have (or was that in the video too? :sly: )

I think it's in the neighborhood of 850-900hp in that vid... But there's LOTS more yet to be useable.

Forgot to mention: It would be much, much quicker if it was RWD, but then it would be senseless to have built an actual Sy. (Syclones and Typhoons were turbo 4.3l powered, AWD versions of the Sonoma and Jimmy, respectively)

And on it's first 9 second pass... It had a windshield visor.

Cool- one tough truck. You said that Porsche used a Flat 8? I'm off to find the most powerful production Flat 8 ever if I can I'll get a vid too, but no promises.

Edit: It doesn't seem there ever was a production Flat 8. Porsche used one in the 908 Race Car and that's it- apart from a couple of aircraft engines.

Listen to this Flat-8 Porsche 908 race car at Le Mans.

And look, here's a Saab V4 as Leo mentioned. You only hear it puntering around and the last 4mins oh the video is a black screen with music. It sounds a lot rougher than an Impreza as I know them.

Just as long as you clarified it as that....some poor chaps still confuse SOHC and OHV....you'll see what I mean if you ever come here and play with the wildlife Leo. ;)

Leonidae

What car was it?? My car was a Holden Gemini, 1.6 SOHC, fully worked....176hp & 140ft/lb of torque (about 130Kw & 185Nm) and weighed just over 800kg. Had a best time of 13.81@96mph & topped out at around 220km/h.

Mafs!!

220 km/hr, is that all? :sly: Early '90s Commodore V6s can get to at least 250km/hr no prob at all with minimal work, and I mean minimal.
