Newbie #1 stepping up to be counted.

I'm currently a North Sydney man. Lived in Melbourne until the start of this year.

Um - wow. I work in St Leonards, moved up from Melbourne three and a half years ago..

Small world - apparently.

My wife works at Intenia in St. Leonards. We live in Willoughby. Damn, it is a small world. :)

So what do you think of Sydney compared to Melbourne? (Once again I start conversations that don't belong in a thread.)

Aah - it's half the fun, being off topic.

I like it here. We'll stay, but we won't retire here, it's a real 'career' city (plus it's so frikken expensive).

I thought the whole 'pace of life' thing was a wank, but it certainly does move more quickly here.

We're in Balmain and I do love it here - bizarre thing is you're in the shadows of the city and you live in this village!

Hopefully we can afford to buy there - not holding my breath, might be back to beating up pensioners to get the deposit!

Real estate and rental costs are the killers up here. Melbourne is begining to follow suit too however. I think we'll stay up here for a few years depending on work, and take it from there. (So read career is the reason we're here) No long term plans to stay but. Both of our families are in Melbourne, and if we start our own "family" we then we'd need the obligatory parent baby sitters! :)

Weathers great up here, at least this year it has been. Roads and traffic sucks. People seem to be more "up" themselves here too. Maybe its just some Melbourne vs. Sydney thing I can't let go of.

Balmain sounds nice. Living in the shadow of the city. :) It is wierd.
