Auto Union?

Its alright, can't really use it in any events, but its pretty fun to take round the 'ring. 👍

Auto Union and Mercedes ad a showdown in 1937 on a closed highway to be the first to pass the 400 km/h mark. Auto Union won. The car tops at roughly 385km/h in real life at the time.

Has anyone actually got this baby to 400km/h or 385? I won it and the first thing I remember is that Audi ad about being first to break 400, so i went onto test course. Highest I got was about 220mph or 352km/h. I know that you can put a force induct it (Turbos were a big hit in 1937...). But can anyone get this thing to 400km/h standard, without upgrading or going up on two wheels?

I have laid down a challenge, who will except?

Rosemeyer on Auto Union did 408 km/h in October '37. On January 28th '38 Caracciola did 432.7 km/h on Mercedes (unbeaten to this day on a public road). It was a windy day, but despite warnings from Carraciola Rosemeyer immediately went out to reclaim the record. Over the flying km he was clocked 1km/h faster than Caracciola but then got caught by the crosswind when passing a clearing, lost control and was killed.
Theoretical top speed of the Auto Union in the '38 configuration was estimated to be about 456 km/h.

Thats what I say you can barely steer it.
👎 👎 :yuck:

That's what you get from enclosed wheel arches designed for streamlining, yups.

My only gripes with this car is that it can only drive on the Nurburgring, and the open-wheeled Grand Prix car isn't in. Can anyone imagine how awesome a Mercedes W156 on Grindelwald would be? 💡 600+ HP, 800kg monster around that Bremgarten-like course! :boggled: Or an Auto Union C around Assisi reverse? Absolute nuts. 👍

Just imagine a 20+ car race on the Nurburgring with various pre-war Bugattis, Alfas, Auto Unions and Mercedes in GT5!

*holds back remarks* I'm glad the car is in the game, even if it is mostly useless. Don't like it, don't drive it. That's why I haven't driven a Skyline or Civic except when I have no choice :yuck:

I was under the impression that the auto union is only available in the PAL version of GT4. Your link lists it as a car you can win with the NA version?
Yeah, its in, and it can be bought. Better to win it though and save your $500K for something else.
