Automatic or Manual?

Manual you can clutch kick drift...something impossible wiht the auto tranny....HOW DO YOU CLUTCH KICK IN GT4?~! easy...hit the ebrake lightly as it is preassure sensitive....don't engage the ebrake just tap it so the gear lets out then downshift and bam accel....simulated clutch kick that makes drifting even more fun.

Damn I never thought about that, but I dont like to disengage the engine from the driveshaft like that:nervous:,prefer to use all of the engine's potential.

when you press the clutch in in a MT car, you disconenct the engine from the drivetrain. this lets you change gears, start, stop without stalling the engine.
how do you think the less than 250hp D1 AE86's get around long corners, and other underpowered cars? they clutch kick mid drift to shock the drivetrain and break traction and keep the drift going.
www.howstuffworks.com type in clutch and read up a little if your still not sure.

I'm talking stricktly about GT4 as it doesn't have a clutch, so your idea would be as close to that, but as you said pulling the e-brake disconnects the power from driveshaft, game or rl (this refers to FR,MR,AWD cars only, as you can do dounuts in a FF car with the handbrake pulled lol)this could be bad though, (lock up the rear wheels so it's a double edge sword as best). Heel and toe is also a huge part of getting around corners as quickly as you can,as keeping engine revs as high as possible is essential.

if you quickly tap the ebrake, itll go into neutral for any car, including FF. it doesnt even come close to locking the rear end if you do it right. and unless you have a 2 way LSD then no your rear wheels wont lockup.

drifting or not I use manual in any and all racing games I play
the only reason I use auto is when I'm racing a novice and I want to put myself at a disadvantage to make it even.

I don't think you fully understand what i meant....when you tap the ebrake lightly the car goes into neutral like suzuki pointed out....If you have trouble doing this tap the e-brake button lighter...If done correctly you shouldn't even lock up the rear wheels...this applies to all drivetrains.....and it has nothing to do with heel toeing....cause like u pointed out...there is no clutch in gt4.

Lets just leave it at that don't want to make an arugment out of noting, we are all friends here with our own opinions. Manual all the way!
