Top 10 Most Expensive Cars to Insure ... that cost less than $40K. They've left out the obvious ones, Lambo, BMW, Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes, Bentle ... this list goes on ...
Ford Mustang GT convertible $2,363 / $28,640 = 8.25%
Honda S2000 convertible $2,363 / $33,250 = 7.11%
Chrysler Sebring $1,788 / $24,045 = 7.44%
Toyota Celica GTS $2,114 / $22,750 = 9.29%
Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GTS $2,114 / $27,144 = 7.79%
Dodge Neon SRT-4 $2,028 / $20,955 = 9.68%
VW Passat W8 $1,856 / $39,735 = 4.67%
Honda Civic Hatchback $1,788 / $19,560 = 9.14%
Subaru WRX AWD Turbo $1,788 / $25,170 = 7.10%
Volkswagen GTI VR6 $1,788 / $22,070 = 8.10%
Makes it look like the S2000 is horribly set for insurance, tied for most expensive in the sub $40 group. However, when you calculate the percentage of the 'value' (cost) of the car it's the third lowest (closest to best) in this selection of 10, and as a true roadster (convertibles always being more expensive to insure). Beat only by the VW Passat (a sedan ...) and the Subaru WRX (another sedan, and by one one-hundredth of a percent). Makes me wonder where it places over all in percentage for the sub $40K group.
S2000, still bad ass in my books.
Also interesting to note, the BMW Z4 3L, and Porsche Boxter S, which are all direct competitors to the S2000, don't make it in this list because they cost more than $40K.
