If this is what happens becasue of memory card tampering(copying ,switching. removing) then you deserve what happens to you. Its not a bug unless it can be repeated.

Don't try to back-up your game with a different memory card while playing.
I switched memory cards while playing and they "stoled" all my cars, that I had acquired from License Tests.

Need to Back-up at Browser screen.
The default screen when you switch on your PS2.
Yep, I said this a week ago. It's good to see somebody who listens.

Some people just wanna make a copy of the game on a 2nd card so the hours of getting cars and winning races don't get lost!

It can be repeated, I have done it myself to test it and make sure that it's what happens.

💡 Try it yourself

Copy that.

Be honest and play how the game is made to be played.

Ya...that sounds most likely, a memory card thing from switching back and forth, etc. I've had one odd bug in my garage (one car was floating) but in almost 2 months playing the game I've had no others.

Best advice, since you have two memory cards. When you get a game to the point you want to keep your progress and or garage backup your game save to another memory card (in the PS2 menus, NOT GT4) and put that second memory card away (not in your PS2) so you can always fall back out that one just incase. That advice pretty much goes for any computer related thing. Backup your data and backup often.

Thanks for the info guys.

Yeah but if you ARE being honest and just want to back up your data in the event of a corruption, you can still get screwed.

To all the Holier than thou who posted in this thread you know where to stick your bunk. People deserve to loose all their cars for simply saving the memory card on second card in case of a corrupt file/card error? Yeah, sure they do! You're a winner. Get a life...

So is it confirmed that this is only a problem for those who "tamper" with the memory cards? This thread really started to scare me even though I only use one memory card...but I may make a backup from the PS2 screen from now on just in case.

I just let it autosave like it always does, and I have no problems. Sucks that you guys lost cars though.

That seems to be the current status...until the next BUG.

I've never had corrupt data from a ps2 game save. Or any problems with save data. I just wanted comfermation if it can be replicated. Theres a reason why there is no load game option. This a bug however it can be avoided "easy".

SONY will disguised all bugs and glitches as part of "being real". "your car vanished?" "ohh no thats not a bug, thats just our new thef engine, we're testing it out for GT5."

The title is a little missleading. No mention of how to do it or why it happends. Its not PD's fault people want to make copies of save game files.

Word! They earned the cars, so they should not lose them unless they pull out the card while its accessing, a known no-no.

Dont worry too much. You can still use the missing cars in arcade right? Not that it matter since you still have all the cash. 95% of the cars in my garage i haven't even used :). I have 123.

AAHAH, all my cars i won were crapy any who.. couldn't use them in the races EXAMPLE#1: NIKE CAR

And there you go, build oh lets say 5 cars to get you through the races, then purposely "lose" your cars (after backing them up in the PS2 Browser in case of SNAFU).

All your "special" cars are now gone from your garage, and back to the short bus where they belong. Then you can re-buy the cars you want and you don't have any crap clogging up your garage, even with your 100% completion.

and why the hell is it dated 2022 and by Nike?? that is just dirt on a clean reputation (for the most part)

Making stuff up completely isnt cool... its just like "uh ya.. here is our guess at some very improbable thing for the future" i dont really like it...

some people should really take note to why they said do not remove the memory card during game play. If you can't just save and reset the damn PS2 to copy your file, then you really need to find something else that will take up even less time to do, it doesn't take that long to do, just do it after you finished playing. It's not that hard. Play the game the way it was meant to be played and save yourself the headaches.

[rant]Nike doesn't exactly have a clean reputation, at least knowing what I know... but that's going off-topic. Let's just say I will NEVER buy even one Nike product.

But... back on topic, I think that including cars like the Nike 2022 (advertising gimmick! Can't you see through it?), and the Toyota Motor Triathlon Garbage Mobile (I can list even more), are absolutely useless additions to the game.

Caterham Fireblade :grumpy:

MB Patent Wagon or Daimler Horse 'n Buggy or WhateverTF it is... I took it for a run down the quarter mile, and it maxed out at 11 mph. :sly: That thing was removed from my garage so quick. Also highly amusing regarding this car... the only mod you can do to it is the 30,000cr "Chassis Stiffening" roll cage/tower bars mod :ouch: What a joke.

If I can't race it in any regular race in GT mode, as far as I'm concerned, its junk. Even though I don't get any credits for it, I remove it from my garage. It clutters it up with cars that are basically unusable.[/rant]

This guy wan't trying to cheat the game. He wanted to back up his progress on another card. That is not an unreasonable thing to try and do. And how the hell would he have known that he HAD to reset in order to save on another card? I highly doubt anyone would sabatoge their hard work on purpose or perhaps you feel he should have had a crystal ball.

Pull the stick out of your arse because you would be pissed if it happened to you.

You guys that lost your cars should have read wht the game told you when you switched your memory cards. I believe it's something along the lines of "You cannot save prize cars." You could have got them back with the first card, but most likely didn't realize it in time so the first card got overwritten. Oh well, READ guys READ.

This is not a bug. In the NA version if you save your game on a new memory card it warns you that all of your garage cars will be lost (excluding the one you are in). If you want to back up or just goof off in the game, make a copy in the ps2 menu screen.

The game told you "don't remove the memory card while playing"

so you removed thememory card while playing, and you're mad cuz you lost your cars?

fool.
