I agree with paul 🤣
mario watched lap 7 don't know if it was me not leaving enough room or your dive into the corner catching me off guard, you was not along side at my brake point so i took my line !

No worries Rich the game doesn't give us hints for this kind of situation (litle display with close-by cars position would be nice, other games have it). I thought you had seen me but even worse than our cars rubbing sides was that enfuriating thing of cars getting glued and after that we're basically passengers until the inevitable crash releases our cars back to our control. Whatever the case I never gave it any other thought, stored as racing incident and glued cars situation!

EDIT - Just reviewed that incident now. You were ahead the whole time so absolutely entitled to the racing line and to close the gap I thought I had ... my apologies :indiff:

Jeepers creepers! @Don Mejillone I owe you one hell of an apology. Just watched a part of the replay from the last race, and seen how I turned you around at the end of one of the laps (might be 4?).

I'd completely forgotten about the incident. At the time I thought that you had lost the back end and come across the front of my car. Now I see that you did lose the back end, because some idiot got up your inside when there wasn't room, and punted you off. I am soooooo sorry :dunce:

@half_sourly please fine me ten points for my p*** poor driving.

I'm going to wear a hood when racing in future, so no one recognises my guilty face...

Yes, hood + cockpit view + lag issues + cat jumping at your lap + wife asking where you let the car keys ...

... and you can get away with almost anything! :P

And, I'm sorry for not including you in my original apology Mario, I was in a bit of a flap. I think that event was the start of your race going bad?

:dopey:

Thankx Zolon for your apology, we all try to drive a clean race and some times sh.. happens !
And I now in our group we all trying to keep it clean and that's the main point in racing !
So no problem Zolon :-)

Fired up the PS4 last night to at least know the car before monday. It's a nice car to drive, but the two races I did left me very undecided on Stable or Loose. I guess Loose might be slightly quicker over a perfect lap but the truth is that a "perfect" lap with Loose is an elusive thing. Not sure why exactly but I suspect the brake balance is more to the rear and so if you need to do any kind of emergency braking (AI induced in my attempts last night) you'll either spin, crash, or both. I guess I may risk loose for quali but will pick stable for the racing.

I'm guessing you all guys have already tried this, did you reach the same conclusions?

I had a brief go a couple of days ago and I'd agree with your findings. It's a little light on the rear end, just like a striped out racecar would be I suppose. As you say sudden braking preferably should be avoided if you're turning at the same time. Easier said than done. Fun car though.

EDIT - My vote for what it is worth is that we stick with the plan to go to Nürburgring Nordschleife next week.

Results from Bannochbrae.

@half_sourly @IfAndOr @tal @richroo @Hun200kmh @Don Mejillone @Oldbass47 (sorry, I don't know the GTP names for Prego or Beach)

Firstly, sorry for the mess that was last night's racing folks. Bannoch is one of my favourite tracks, and the Escort is a lovely motor, but the recipe went off somewhere in the mix. That event was somewhere badly short of a the sum of its parts.

This has made me nervous about taking the KTM to the Nurb. So, next week's race will be at Donnington, the short track where the chicane is before the start/finish straight. Still using the Gr4 KTM.

No need for apologies, that's just how it goes sometimes. B-brae (and the Nord) are both great tracks but you do have to stay on them and keep up to have the best races. And I've had a good few.

I did have a few incidents yesterday where I came whizzing around a corner and found a car sideways in front of me. And I think there might have been a couple of vise versa incidents too - sorry about that!

I was struggling with my wheel settings again last night, I just can't get it to feel right in PC2. My old wheel was faster - as Rich proved. 😀
What with the wheel and the PS5's contrast problem unfortunately I don't spend so much time on PC2 as I used to so I can blame it on a lack of practice. Nothing to do with a lack of skill. No nothing at all. 🫣

My quick recap

Last night was, as I said, raced under the famous excerpt from the scriptures that reads "Thou Shalt NOT Win a Race". I battled for the lead three times and three times it slipped. Congratulations are due to all three VICTORS (that's a word I'm fond of :D ), @richroo , @half_sourly and raeggee.

As consolation prize I got the not-pole-position from the 15 minutes quali. That last lap, alone on track, I was really squeezing all I could from myself to get the few extra tenths I needed, it was very very intense I really had to recover myself when it ended.

Overall, and although it was for me a winless event, it was a memorable one. I do love this track, already had many heartbreaking moments there but it is a magnificent creation from whoever imagined its layout, designed its scenery, added the annoying bumps and quirks. I know it from heart, raced it already (offline) in all conditions, weather and time of day possible (except snow) and all I can say is that you all should try it at night. Did a few offline races there in the Caterham Seven and to see the lights from the town appear through the fog is really something. You really want to stop and have a pint, or two, at the pub just after the chicane. Enough said, I love it.

@Zolon32 about the KTM Nordschleife vs KTM Donnigton ... I'm with @half_sourly, it'll be a pity to miss out on such a fantastic track. I'm not sure why you're making the change, but if it is because of it being a narrow twisty track where pileups can happen (a la BannochBrae) I think the Nord is different, you don't have the narrow sections with the cliff walls to one side and the barriers to the other, where there's no escape. To be honest, I find the next event at Rouen-les-Essarts (BMW 2002) to be much more alike to the Bannochbrae experience than the Nurb-Nord. But it is your call and I'll happily race wherever you set us to, I'm already thankful that you came up with this series and were willing to organize it.

So... you know the one about the bloke who was so stupid that he organised a race series for a period where he already had a holiday booked? You haven't! Oh, well, maybe I should introduce myself, and I'm an idiot who...

The upshot is that, come the 22nd May I'm going to be some distance from my rig. The good news is that I'm going to get to meet Simon (Pantheons) some time while I'm away.

See y'all in about thirteen days :)

Doningburgring? @half_sourly

With Zolon's absence I'll have to see if I can come up with something as a filler for next week.

Anyone tried the PSplus "free" game this month, Grid Legends? It's not exactly SIM heavy but it's not too bad in the handling department. Sort of semi realistic and it's probably more fun because of that. I'm quite enjoying it so far. Nice graphics as well that run smoothly - at least on the PS5 anyway.
It's refreshing to have new cars and (especially) new tracks to try out. It would make for some interesting online races.
