Ok guys Im having a bit of a problem here with B-Spec Buddy (a.k.a:B-Spec bob).

He is a great driver. He has awesome driving skills with most any car but...he seems to fear passing other cars...

See...he will struggle for positions in the back of the pack, but once he is clear,he can put a 5000+ gap on his opponents!

I think his "Battle skill" may have something to do with it...but if so....how can I improve it without needing to do important races? (To clear that up,is there any way I can do like Track Meets in B-Spec and make him better?)

I have found similar problems with normal AI drivers. Ever passed one of them near the end of a long struggle? Then within a lap, you've gained a dozen seconds on him? And it took you 10 laps to beat down his 3 second advantage. I think that the AI get's slowed down once they're behind, and end up making mistakes.

My B-Spec driver can never get anywhere on Suzuka or Tsukuba. Suzuka I can be in first place before turn one, where he can't stay on the road under the normal driving speed. Tsukuba is even worse. I can pass 5th place by turn one and be in first by the end of lap 1, and B-speccer can't get out of last place ever.

just keep your speed on 3 (steady). only push him to 5 on the straight way. and keep overtakes on so he is not afraid of pass opponents. and if competitions are evenly matched, then it will be based on your B spec driver's points and all those skills.

You are leaving "Overtake" on all the time, right?

Also, turn up his speed when he pulls in behind another car and he'll pass much faster. Put it on "5" and watch how aggressive he gets. Just remember to return to "3" as soon as he gets by.

He takes unnecessary racing lines when you leave it on and makes mistakes when he tries to pass people on corners and stuff. At least my guy does, I don't use him all that often though. Usually only for endurances.

I haven't tested Track Meets for earning B-spec points but usually the B-driver can earn points whenever used. Photo mode and Practice mode can both be used to improve Machine and Course skill. However, racing is required to improve Battle skill. Family Cups are a good way to improve Battle skill because it is possible to change the difficulty setting as needed. The races must be close; don't win or loose by too much. The B-spec points get used up so race cars from a variety of power class and tune them with HP, tires, weight, or downforce modifications to earn different points. Close races can also be simulated by preventing passing (overtake off) until just before the end of the race. These links have excellent information for improving B-spec skills.

I always leave Overtake on until he is out in front.I usually run him Overtake+4 or Overtake+3.

He seems to have a big problem on tracks such as Opera Paris with alot of complex corners and turns.

I don't know what his problem is but I really need to solve it or I can tell im going to have a hell of a time doing the endurance races.

His problem is probably low battle skill (passing ability). Opera Paris has narrow streets and few opportunities to pass. However, with moderate skill and a well tuned car, the B-driver should have no problem winning the endurance races unless he decides to drive into the wall on Sarthe II (known glitch, but I don't know the solution) or misses the pit (happens less frequently with improved skills). I suggest running the One-Make races with stock or minimal upgrades before the endurance races to improve B-spec skills, or use the methods described in the links posted above to quickly earn as many easy points a possible. Be sure to keep the races close or the battle skill will lag behind the course skill. Endurance races are not a good place to improve battle skill because you don't want to risk loosing by keeping the races close. Also, leave overtake on during endurance races or the B-driver will follow the car in last place and eventually be passed by other drivers.

First time on the GT4 I did almost everything a-spec up to 92%. And B-spec Bob was a moron...

The second time (currently at about 28%), I B-spec everything I can, and found that B-spec bob is getting smarter. Still doesn't know how to time an overtake on a straight and keeps bumping into the oponents rear... and I don't think he knows the meaning of splistreaming... but still, he's much better !

My b-spec driver passes everyone. The key is training him on a variety of different courses and different types of cars - FF, FR, MR, RR AWD etc, and different classes - power ratios. I usually leave it on 3 with overtake on or 2 with overtake if I am trying to conserve tires.

I think your B-spec needs to learn the basics.
