WTF is with this MORONIC AI on the American Championships at Daytona?

Race Modified ZR1: check
Moron who slows to 75 (yes, SEVENTY FIVE MPH) on the turns: check

soooooooooooo sick of this ****

I know what You've been through. Had same problem with Truck race at Daytona and another one later on.

Eventually my Bob (lvl 12 or 13) won it ob his 5th or 6th attempt.

I did "speed up" command all race long - but didn't helped at all.

OMG I havn't been this frustrated ina while
I'm doing All stars in the Furi concept. IT clearly has them out handled but since Bob likes to push them around the corner and they have more speed on the straight, you're SCREWED!!!!!!

The game AI needs to wake up and understand an outside line pass! Its like he has this line he can't break. Its a 20 ft wide track and only uses 4 ft of it.

Oh great. While typing this he just ate **** into the sand...

I gota turn this thing off and go to bed before I break something...

If I did this race with this exact car I'd have the lead by the 2nd lap.

P.S. GIVE ME A DAMN PAUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially if you're going to make me baby sit when I have to take a crap.

Last night's Rubber Banding Award....

B Spec team on the Suzuka 30 lap GT race...:ouch:

Had to pick the kids up yesterday evening, so set B Spec going on a 30 lapper of Suzuka - so easily an hour plus of chunking away while I was out.

Got back at lap 20 - our car at Posn 1. Already pitted, fresh tyres, fresh driver, enough fuel to run the course... went out to put the tea on...

...LAP 28 FIRST, by a mile - well about 1 min 20 secs on the pack, lapping at 2 mins 20, with the opposition lapping considerably slower than that.

So off I go to the kitchen to serve the meal...

Back in front of the PS as my guy crossess the line for the final lap - start of lap 30... AND HE's IN 4th PLACE:grumpy:

The pack had made up somewhere in the order of 1 min 30 secs on a single lap of Suzuka

Am I really supposed to believe that they did a 1 minute lap around Suzuka:confused:

I was absolutely FUMING

i would say ur bob crashed out...

That had occured to me - either spun off or pitted.

Hadn't pitted - it was the same driver and same state of tyre wear as at lap 28.

Bob's have been driving pretty well over the last week - very unusual for them to loose a race. They occasionally spin out when tired, but get going again really quickly. The tyres were in pretty good shape, so no reason for the car to have started getting lairey. Even if he had spun off, there should have been no reason not to have got back on the track and started again - even a 30 second off wouldn't have even halved the gap.

I suspect he came across a back marker who was two laps down (Yellow Hat Supra) and didn't bother overtaking. Back markers definately don't have any AI programming to give way to lappers - in fact they seem to contest track space and position more vigorously than any of the other AI drivers!!!

Post of the month right here.

Try this one one for size:
"...ok, so we got rid of the fast forward feature, but I still think we're not showing off the awfulness of the AI as well as we could"
"how about......no its too crazy..."
"say it man, we're on a roll with killer ideas"
"how about we remove the ability to pause the game!"
"NAILED IT!"

This happens every time for me in the Minolta. Luckily if I AFK it all Bob can get back in first place during the second half of the last lap. I don't know any way around it other than sending the pit cancel command.

My level 5 driver can drive my Chrome line Lambo perfectly, if I keep the hot/cold gauge in the middle (perfect 4 wheel slides around corners and all) , but he forgets what the steering wheel is for in the Toyota Yaris!

Bob was really making me angry last night. I was doing the Mazda challenge race and I had my Mazda upgraded to like 200 hp cause I knew Bob was going to need a car with way more HP to compete. When I raced it in A-Spec I destroyed the competition. So of course when I put my level 7 Bob in it, he is sliding around corners, spinning out, etc. I was getting pretty angry. So I looked at the tire restrictions on the race which were set to "Sports Hard". I headed to the tuning shop and got those tires, installed them, and then for good measure just put on the sports suspension in hopes it would help a bit. Loaded up the same race, and guess what.........he destroys them by like 8+ seconds. Only on the first lap while trying to pass people did he slide a bit. After that he handled it like a pro.

So I'm thinking, from now on, I'm making sure I have the best tires equipped that the race allows. It seemed to make a huge difference in that single race. Here's hoping it works on other races. Cause thats my main issue along with maybe braking a bit, he just always slides and spins out too much around corners.

Maybe he doesn't want to touch the Yaris' steering wheel after being spoiled with the Lambo?

that sort of removes the whole training aspect from B-Spec though? To be honest I'm not convinced by the leveling up in B-Spec, we need far more detail from PD as to how it actually works.

I found out if you leave you drivers alone for to long with giving them commands they'll slow down to a snail pace. I don't know why this happens, I would think after so many races the AI would be smart enough not to slow down that much.

Thats what I'm having trouble with, logically: the more you "train" the driver, the less input he should need. but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Just a lap or so of being in the lead and my guys pace drops by about 4 seconds a lap. Doesn't seem to make any difference whatsoever if I send him "commands". It all seems to be based on....nothing. He either drives straight into walls, spins the car in traffic, or gets in the lead and goes at a snails pace. Nothing you do makes much difference.

Low level - up as far as 6 and still trying to re-do the beginner races over...and over...and over.... in cars with up to 200 horsepower more than the opposition, still a struggle for the pathetic driver.

B-Spec mode is a great idea. It's just not been implemented properly. Not unlike many "extraneous" features of this game....

I agree, it is a great idea, but its baffling how they implemented it. They actually removed features from it, the ability to pause, the ability to speed up the race.

I'm currently struggling with the first track in British lightweights. I let my driver use my '94 Griffith 500 but he can't keep it pointed in the right direction.

B Spec is stupid, driver is painfully slow, its almost impossible to watch him race its just pathetic I'm realy starting to hate it. I'm probably going to abandon it all together

I have only ever read that you "train" your driver in forums any way. Where have PD said that that is possible? I never for a moment thought when i first played B-spec in GT5 that i could train my drivers to get better.

I really don't mind the B-spec racing. You really can't just sit back watch it or most likely your driver won't win. You have to participate keeping your drive temper in check. But, I do agree that it can be slow. Races that I've won easily in A-spec my B-spec driver can win.

Then whats the point of him earning experience points and leveling up?

You can enter a Mclaren F1 into the European hot hatch event :D

Only way my B-Spec wazzock is gonna win the Eiger Nordwand event.....

The faster his speed and level is, the faster his lap times when fully cool.
This is realistic, think of a rookie that has to drive on the limit just to be competitive.
While the World champ can cruise a bit more and still be faster

They'll speed up on their own anyway if the opponent cars get close.
Or just leave him in 2nd place and he'll keep pace, and cause the 1st place guy to heat up and make mistakes

Update for my B-Spec drivers :D

I ran some more B-spec last night and even though progress comes in little bity steps, I can see both my drivers improving with time. I'm glad B-spec is a separate path in the game. It's as if I have two games on one disc with A-spec supporting B-spec in terms of equipment prep for future B-spec races.

Didn't really care about that to be honest. I want different personalities for all my (future) drivers, so I can't give them all correct stats :)

Though I think that Hamilton is more agressive on track compared to Alonso and Schumacher :sly:
