Has anyone seen a Senna??
I was in A-spec mode when I made the truck race observation....just me thinking outloud.
As I have a terrible memory some times, I may be naming it wrong. But, my B-spec drivers are still working to complete the Beginner level races and the race I'm referencing is a 4-lap race at Fuji with tiny little Toyotas. Sorry, that's the best I can do to provide more information. Someone chime in if I'm getting the race information wrong please.
I found initially my full cold driver was better than my full hot driver, but as the levels climb, the full hot one is much better. The cool one is much to passive. On their own their lap times are similar, but in traffic the cool one takes longer to overtake etc
My third driver who is right in the middle, is arguable better than both, moderation as they say is the key
He's much further below in levels, but slightly faster than the cool driver....
👍For those of you wanting more from B-Spec, don't give up until you reach the Extreme challenges, you will have some awesome races there, I assure you. Read this latest thread of mine for an epic B-Spec story. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=139772
Damn B-spec Barry Can't win the first race of the sunday cup. This is a joke...
I'm really fed up with my B-Spec Guy K. Kaufmann right now. I really am. He's running a TVR Tuscan Speed 6 '09 in the British Lightweights Cup. The car is tuned, even, cranking out almost twice as much power as hs competition does, while pretty close in terms of weight. He's level 12, as is the race. Hi's 'status' arrow is green. He can't even keep his fourth place anymore.
He already lost the race three times now.
You know, I get the feeling that the B-Spec guys aren't even that bad. They can do somewhat decent on an empty track, but they are just too effin' dumb/scared or whatever to overtake anything.
Kaufmann clearly got some guy beat in those races, the position indicator already aknowledging that he gained a position and he will relinquish it anyways. It's like he's going "ZOMG, oh noes, another car, whatamigonnadowhatamigonnado?!" *slams brakes*.
His car is pushing something like 350BHP and he can't manage to overtage a MG TF160. I mean, WTF?!
And by the time he FINALLY gets to fourth place (from seven), the three fastest AI cars have so much of a lead that he's not going to catch anyone of them...
I've been drifting through every single corner on Madrid, covering half the track in smoke for the hell of it and still won by bounds and leaps. And he's just not getting anywhere! I mean, a lvl12 driver can't be THAT bad, can he?!
I have found that some B-Spec drivers are just, well BAD. I have retired 4 drivers already looking for ones that seem to be REALLY good, and I feel like I found them. Keep with it though, once you start reaching the high teens and 20's they get a LOT better. If you're looking for a reason to keep going though, read this.

Yeah, I always make suure he's got the best tyres available at his disposal and usually start with a car fairly similar to the rest of the fiedl, typically with a ~10 to 15BHP advantage for my Bobs. If they fail all too often, I get them something more powerful. The strange thing is, they perform drastically different on different tracks, even though both tracks are, layout wise, pretty similar...One more thing, make sure you give them something they can handle, and be aware of what tires you have on the car in comparison to the AI. Check the settings to make sure that you have everything correct. For example on comfort soft tires, in a high powered RX 7 in some of the beginner races, he hardly ever touched the throttle, because every time he did, he would spin around. Once I got him in an appropriate car for the tired, he did much better.
Thanks for the heads up
It's just so friggin' anoying I have to keep throwing MOAR POWAAAR! at their cars for them to beat the events. I lost, like, 70 grand in order to get the truck race at Daytona over with... I'm already dreading the GT World Championship. I'm currently preparing my Furai... Might do the trick with enough additional power. Considering I did it in a slightly tuned HEP G37, it's laughable, really...

The more they race in a single car, or on a single track, the better they get with that car/track. For example all of my drivers are REALLY good with the LFA, and know Tsukuba, Suzuka, Monza, Fuji, and Cape Ring REALLY well. That is what I have them use for the Japanese Championship, and all of them have races that series 4 - 5 times a piece.
Dunno, it certainly doesn't feel that way... In my case, both of them got worse, actually. Once the car reaches a certain treshold, though, they totally destroy any opposition. That's what's baffling me. They either lose with no hope of ever challenging the current leader for his position, or they win with a 20 seconds lead![]()
Hmm, perhaps that's when it comes down to the inexperience of the B-Spec drivers at first. Nervous, afraid to make passes. I don't know. Everything I have said is just what I have noticed (or at the very least believe I have noticed), and it doesn't mean I am right.
Nah, I don't doubt you, in fact, I think you're right. The guys probably need to get to a higher level to become anything of a good driver...
It's just... He easily took a third place last time I tried, and he's struggling to keep his sixth now. Even after adding a rear wing to the car, to make it easier for him to control it >_>
Must've spend 200'000 Credits on the car already and they can't do anything with it.
Maybe I should've gone foor a racemodded Elise 111R righ from the start
/edit:
Okay, so I was pretty fed up with my B-Spec drivers not getting the races done, so I decided to just restart the race every ten minutes or so, to have them grind cash and EXP while loosing. I start watching Two and a Half Man instead of keeping an eye on them and voilá, gold...
Lol, sounds like you might have been bossing them around too much, lol. I give maybe one command a lap. MAYBE. Normally it is just to overtake, or to pace down to let them cool off some.
I usually only told them to overtake at the beginning of the race and left them alone for the most part.
Didn't seem to change a thing whenever I issued a command...
Hmm, that is really strange. But hey! You made it past that race!
Yeah, with enough tries, it's bound to happen again - even if it's just because the other AI drivers are bound to mess up sometime.
Otherwise, he'll get up to level 15 or something that way![]()
How many B-Spec drivers do you have?
Did a search and didn't find anything on this so thought i would post.
It doesn't seem like it has been confirmed to be in GT5 so i'm hoping that it's not!
I think all races should be completed by the player and just get rid of B-Spec all together.
You might say, oh but what about the boring championships or the 24hour races. Well if you don't feel like doing them, then don't do them
So you might reply, oh but then i cant fully complete the game. To which i would say, if you are playing the game just to complete it you need to go outside, and meet real people.
Two, currently. Gave them a stock Elise 111R RM now. He's about to lap the competition... I guess the TVR just sucked royally.
Ok, another thing is that when you are in the race selection screen, You will see either a green arrow pointing up, blue pointing forward, or orange pointing down. Not 100% sure what it stands for, but I am pretty sure that the green is peak fitness, blue is average, and orange is low. When your driver is in that low fitness/recoup mode, he doesn't perform as well.
