B-spec mode is a waste of disc space

How fun, a mode that lets you not play? Wohooo isnt that great? SO when you get tired you let the AI play for you.....bah

I've been playing my GT4 for the whole week now, sadly not straight :grumpy:

but I have never even thought of using B-spec....i used it once to try it out, but the AI is so stupid, it takes them forever to catch up, even in level 5.....i have not racked up any points on B-spec mode, and dont really intend to

i think PD really messed up adding this dumb mode

instead of this crap, they could have added more cars (maybe ferrari, or porsche?) or more tracks, maybe a mountain racing mode, or drift mode

photo mode is almost completely useless.......i like the idea of taking pitures of my car, but what's the use when they already set the positions for you.....i was expecting to drive around even if it was a relatveiyl small area of the city and take pictures as i please.......or AT LEASt get to drive the car to the designated spots....all you do is place the car there....how gay 👎

EDIT: just realised a good use for b-spec...doing the endurance races. but that's even reaching......how would you know it's gonna win, and you sitll have to check on the car every once in a while to tell the car to pit in :grumpy:

wine wine wine...I swear to god you people only complain...freakin christ.

If you don't like it, DON'T USE IT. Just because you can't use it well and don't realize how easy it is to win a race with B-Spec doesn't mean you have to talk down on it. Hell I don't use it often, but I still use it on occasion, for practice.

And as far as endurance races go, you can use it, and you have to check up on it, the whole POINT of B-Spec is to put you into the managers shoes, you are instructing your driver, why is that so hard to understand? It's not just a reply, OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO MONITOR IT.

Just stop complaining...you people are so caught up withyourselves sometimes you think that everything should revolve around what you want. Do you think maybe PD should go out with a survey, get what every single fan of GT, and potential fan, would want in the game, and THEN make it? NO.

Not to offend anyone, but most of the people who are let down IMO...are just spoiled ungrateful fans. In fact, to me they are not fans at all...

05_stang has said it right!
It opens to a larger crowd!
A lot of my friends which are not good at GT at all now have a chance to learn and master through B-spec...
Not to say I brag but if they do improve then it would be a good competition in the future with them!

I don't know if this was mentioned in this thread yet, but you should know (from other forums with other people who own the game)

The AI is supposed to absolutely suck at beginning. After using B-Spec mode enough times, it gets better as you use B-spec mode more and more.

(I read through every post in here, im very tired, excuse me if it was already mentioned)

Yes, B-Spec gets better the more you play with it. As with so many things.

But I will be driving the 24hr race myself.

I'll use B-Spec at least a little, it mainly appeals to me for the 24hr races which I will use it on, but I might use it other times, I might not, I'll decide when I've tried it.

B-Spec - Tokyo race, 330bhp Scooby, the AI is so poor he barely makes into 3rd place after messing about at the back of the grid for 5 laps.
I take the helm and am first after the fourth or fifth corner. B-Spec would be fine, if the AI was any good. However the AI is not very good, so this seriously flaws this section.

Photo-mode - Oh my god how can anyone call this a waste of space. This is easily the best new feature in GT4 for me, I love it. So many angles and options to taking a photo, it pure heaven.

Eddy, you've clearly not read the posts in this thread, the AI in B-Spec gets better the more you use it, it's like your training an AI driver, the more he races the more he improves.

Doh, my eyes are strained from too many hours playing GT4. I'll give it more of a go then.

is there any word on a save option for the longer endurance races or am i forced to sniff through the night? ps b-spec won't be my cup of tea.

How many times have you used B-Spec.. as mentioned above, I heard other GT4 owners had the same problem with stupid AI when they first started too, but after using it more and more, the B-spec driver was actually decent.

Try completing a few races (maybe 10 and whether you win or lose, save it), and see if over time you B-spec guy's AI goes up. If his AI's still dumb, please let me know.

B-spec mode is not a waste of space, first it really gets you thinking about (simple driving strategy) and it forces you to think about tire setups and pit stops. With strategies you can make a slower car win an endurance race. Plus... It wins me prize cars while i sleep.

Photo mode... I think it was PD and Sony trying to demonstrate the graphic power of the PS2. For those of you who have done a bit of computer modelling/rendering you would appreciate how fast PS2 can render out those images...

As I sit here typing this, my D1GP RX-7 is busy tearing up the field on the first 5 race Japanese championship series. I've already won it in A-spec mode, but I can re-run it in B-spec with a final result of about 40Mil in my bank after I sell the prize car that I already have. One of the things I enjoy most about the GT series is to fill my garage with interesting cars, and this helps me to do it. :sly:

And it sure beats running the Type-R championship over and over again in GT3...

Theres a thread dedicated to having that question answered, it's no anyway.

I only use B-spec for endurance races. Pick the tyres that last long, use the Sauber C9 and set the speed to 3x.. I hate long races so b-spec rules. :P

Hey, Once upon a time I was not even able to play GT2 and win a Focus with an Escudo, but I started playing and I got better by getting my hands dirty, not by watching the CPU do the job for me. And for the endurances, there should not be any 24 hour races in the first place, it's just too long or if there are, just put save points in the pits.

See ya :sly:

wow, didn't know it would stir up such a fuss.....it cracks me up when people write, "if you dont like it, dont use it" you don't have to tell me because I DONT USE IT....thanks for reminding me.....again hahahahaha

anyway, with the monitoring issue, people say they can just leave it on and go to sleep, and i was just pointing out that you can't really sleep too well if you have to monitor it......anyway, didn't mean to get people's panties all in a twist, just stating an opinion.....and yes, i truly believed that PD should have listened to me, revolved ther whole plan on what i think is good:rolleyes: nice job putting a twist in my words

anyway, like Sven pointed out to me, it's probably my ADD that is the reason why i dont like B-spec very much, plus my slight OCD of getting a perfect score which is a 100 percent win rate so i like to do things myself

and yes, as i said earlier, i was kinda harsh on photo mode, been using it, and it's really sick.....i just thought in photo travel, you'd be able to drive around the city, that would have be sweet

never got people so riled up on a forum before....:)

ahhh, i feel the same way about the 24 hour races, i thought them to be a bit too extreme

plus, if you're gonna have 24 hour races, it would have been cool if the sun rise and set as the time went along.....

Having a score in GT has always seemed kind of pointless to me. Strive for a perfect win ratio? I'm willing to bet you never once have a challenging race then; it's probably a "crack a nut with a sledgehammer" scenario.

I came into the thread hoping for at least an attempt at mature criticism, until I remembered where I am. I completely forget that it's acceptable around here to review a topic using just the terms "gay" and "dumb/stupid". Huzzah.

that's why it's called OCD, i have to have things a certain way, another "pointless" thing i do is i have to wash and change the oil of every car i own....after i run the car in a race, or a series of races, i have to wash it and change the oil before i save it......dont really care if it's pointless to you...keeps me sane.....btw it's rude to make fun of someone's disorders......hahahaha jk

oh yeah, i do race the most powerful car i have to win lots of money, who doesn't do that, but when it comes to the perfect score thing......i save as often as possible, and if i do happen to lose, i reset it......i've done it for the 40 lap races in GT3, that's how bad it is.....i just laugh at it..

Yup.. Agreed subie 👍

I agree also, The more options the better! This thing has more options than any Race game period and look all the complaints from guys whom don't even have the game yet! Lol

When you have trained your B-spec AI enough, and you have already figured out the best combination of tires for the course, you can just leave it running and stop worrying about the monitoring. The only check up i do is about how many hours i have to wait for it to finish the 24 hr. endurance race.
24 hr endurance race is an awesome idea. Some people in this forum would get a few friends together and finish it (while using no pauses and switch driver only in pit) simulating the REAL Le Mans.

I'll buy GT4 just to enjoy super realistic racing experience and graphic, I don't really care about B-Spec mode and Photomode.
24 hour of sitting in front of the TV? no way man, I don't wanna be put on the newspaper as " Braking News: A guy died from stroke while playing game for almost 24 hour" It's just totally insane for PD to put this thing in GT4, but anyway, I am sure that I'll enjoy the game even more than I did with GT3 👍

The B-Spec driver isn't that bad. For my first try of B-Spec I decided to race the 80's Japan cup with an '89 GTR Skyline. The car was a bit more powerful than the rest of the field (there was an '87 GTR Skyline competing) and the AI not only should have won, it DID win the race. It managed to get past one or two cars per lap and drove quite well to a win. I was quite satisfied with its efforts.

I prefer to drive the car myself but B-Spec is a nice fun option to have.

Photo mode is also fun. I can play around with cars and learn something about photography at the same time. Exposure

I am completely converted now. Once B-Sped has learnt how to drive it's great. Look my Nissan 350Z LM car is pounding around the Fuji Speedway in front now ;)
OK I don't believe it'll be ever as good as me (Because I am a driving god :O ) but it's still a great way to complete races that you either don't like driving (Seoul, Hong Kong and New York for me) or are too long for you. Get's my vote now.
Great way to earn credits whilst you do other stuff too (Like take a break or watch the graphics)

Do you REALLY think that PD does not have Ferrari and Porsche because of not enough space?
Well, think again. If that was the case they would skip, lets say, the Tank Car. It's all about licenses. Licenses equals money. Big game plus hot brand equals alot of money. There you go.

PS. I also thin it's st00p1d to buy a game that plays itself.

Don't knock it 'til you try it. I found an excellent use for B-Spec as I was eating my dinner this evening -> hands-free GT4! Unlike the driving gods here I can't wield a fork and a DS2 at the same time so B-Spec is nice to watch while I eat. Also I think it will be useful for testing different set-ups and different cars. Same AI driver, same aggression settings -> see which set-up or which car is faster. Good for experimentation where the goal is to tune your suspension but you don't want to run 100 laps yourself testing and always wondering whether the improvement in speed is because the car handles better with the new settings or because you are getting better at this particular track. I hope the AI does NOT get better with time, I want him to drive the same way every lap.

Well he does get better with time as has been confirmed more than once in this thread, there will be a point where he stops improving and it would be good to test settings then, hell if it didn't improve it would be stupid to test settings with it considering how bad it is.
