When you tell a cool driver to pass he will... if the guy in front of him happens to run off track anyway. If you tell a hot driver to pass he will slam the car in front of him and run him off track for his position. My 3rd driver was the first hot head I took and I wish I had done it sooner. Time will tell if cool drivers have any benefit. Maybe long races.

Cool drivers don't risk. They drive slower but never crash. Hot drivers risk.
I think in the lower levels it's better to have cool driver, because he won't risk, and if he did, he would keep crashing. When your driver has higher level, it's better for him to be hot-headed, because now he is likely to succeed when risking.

I've found no difference in low level crashes. In fact hot headed driver seems to crash less when given orders when his bar is full red. My cool guys would often run wide into a wall or spin in this situation.

I will add though, once I realized my hot drivers would actually pass, I've been giving them slower, safer cars. You don't need the massive HP advantage with them like you do the cooler ones. My hot driver is winning races a few levels above him in a fairly stock rx8 where I would have had to put a cool driver in a tweaked supra or something so he could pass on straights. So even though they take more chances they are driving cars way from the limit, where as my cool drivers were pushing overpowered cars at their limit.

Skill levels are more important than hot vs. cold. Also ride inside with the new driver for first race or two.Preferably in the Sunday Cup...after all he is a "new" driver and should not be racing in Professional events. If he or she really stinks then... he or she will waste a great deal of your efforts and not get as many winnings on down the road. Pick a good skill set first, live with the personality later. Look at Michael Schumacher! :sly: Don't hesitate to retire the bad driver immediately and find you a great one. The interview process is half the fun of starting up with new driver wannabes. OH...VERY IMPORTANT!!! Only have them pilot cars from the "typical entrants" list otherwise your results will be skewed.

I stick my new drivers in extreme events, a quick 5 race series in the FGT and they're at level 9. I picked a hot bob as my main driver and he almost permanently drives at max rage, he seems to be pretty decent though and is excellent at overtaking

my bob is mainly cool cause I give him a big fat minolta and he's level 4 lol (training him up, neglected b-spec) but if I give him a rubbish car and he starts to lose, he REALLY gets hot headed. he rams other cars for no reason, its so funny

No. Have you tried both? The main difference is the Hot drivers will pass cars where the Cool ones will follow the AI blue/red racing line just like the opponents and requires a much better car to win races with brute force.
