Hey GTP. With less than a month away GT4 seems to acutally be coming out soon. I dont want to jump the gun but it seems pretty official. Well anyways, with that said I want to know if anyone confirmed this not only by someone saying it but with a actual picuture. A member from here said that they seen a picture of backfire but I don't think it was a backfire he actually saw. Now the game is done more and more info should come out. I'm just wondering was that something leaked out. Oh, speaking of effects, the turbo sounds are back??? GT2 did a excellent job with that (I was playing it this weekend.) You can actually hear the other cars with turbos. And the cars with low boost or stage 1 turbos didnt have bov's like in gt3 witch was hot. Well just those to Q's. Thanks.

no one knows otherwise their would be a big thread on it some random people have said they saw it in preview versions but with no proof.
i wont kill you but they will.

If you dig through the screenshots here on GTP, there's one image of a Skyline with flame coming out of the exhaust. I think it's been debated as to whether it's a genuine pic or a Photoshop job, but it's there. And at least one user specifically mentioned backfire in a preview version shown at a convention, but none of the at-home demos has it.

BAM! BAM BAM BAM! You're dead. I killed you.

I could ***** a lot about this but I'm just going to say I think backfires are dumb and you guys should drop it.

Well a member here reported a Jag race car backfiring when he went to this game event in Mexico.

Thats who I was refering to when I said someone saw it but I'm not sure if that could be totally believed. Not saying that person lieing but it could be mistaken.

Obviously it isn't a dumb thing or else we couldn't be talking about it so much would be. It's realistic. I'm sure you've seen races and sure enough high performance race cars do backfire. So not only would it be a hot effect but it would be real. Nothing wrong with that. 👍 Just gotta keep it gully.

The only downside was that there was no proof. But he was quite specific.. said it happened when the car hit a wall, there was brief spurt out the back due to the sudden (jarring) drop in RPMs.

But, in the end, it's just like so many other features of the game... we just don't know yet. We'll have to wait until the game's out and we see it with our own eyes. I have a feeling a lot of stuff will be like that even after the game's out. People not quite believing what they're being told about the game until they get their own copy to verify.. hehe.

THe users at GTP wont kill you they will murder you. JUST PLAYING!! NOT TRUE!! (I hope I dont get banned for this. )

Anyways back to the topic yeah it would be cool and kinda pointless. BUT cool!

My thoughts: Most definitely an addition i'd like to see. I'd be cool to tune a car up to the point where you get flames spurting from the exhaust whilst breaking heavily. They included it in Auto Modellista and that look really sweet there. I hopes it's included, but we'll have to wait and see.

Actually I heard you can have Flames come out of an car NO MATTER STOCK OR TUNED! I am really confident that I read this here at the GTP forums. I think it had to do something with a RX8. I rember reading you had to just shift right or and have a good rpm level and something weird like that.

race cars backfire simple as that, and flames do come out the sides quite often.... so theirs nothing wrong with it!

and reverse lights would look mad :)

This would be a good addition but might be best left to GT5 when all the subleties of racing and damage will have their full opportunity to be included. I'd be surprised if this was included.

Singe your competition, anyone? i think backfires would be nice....make the game more realistic...afterall, consistently running at over 6000 rpm during a race tends to cause some pretty big flames!

to answer ur comment on stock standard cars being able to backfire is true. the main reason they dont though is due to the cat being in place and a lack of fuel pressure. if a exaust is placed on the car and the cat is removed then it is quite possible to see flames.

i would love it if the had flames, but somthing way better would be turbo gas (the black smoke from the exhuast when the wastegate opens).

lol i love hearing cars backfire. same thing with highflow stuff (having highflow exhaust components) when you hear the putts in the exhaust while braking quickly. haha i love almost everything about cars.....except relays.

My friends M3 backfires all the time with just a exhaust system...one time I shot out a fire ball about 6 inches when I caught a really good 3rd to 4th. We will find out in about a month on whether or not the game has backfire *crosses fingers*

that flame is caused mainly by the engine running too rich, although it may look cool, it isn't a thing u really want your car doing all the time...

Yes something like that.

just about every other racing game has backfire possible. In richard burns rally. just about every part of the engine has been simulated, so backfires and engine sounds are realistic.. would it be too much to ask the same of gt4... i dont care if they dumb it down a bit.. its just a nice little detail to see flames shoot out... and the sound :)

Running rich must be a good thing in racing cause all race cars i've seen backfire.

The leaner your engine is the more power you get but you have a greater chance of blowing your engine. Thats why it's better to run a bit rich. Plue the effects are pretty darn cool if you ask me :D.

Do you flame watchers want to see the flame while you are driving, you would be using chase view, see flame on the AI, or see flame on replays?
I drive first person so I wouldn't see mine. I am usually way out in first place so I wouldnt see the AI's. I would rather spend time driving than watching replays so wouldnt see them there. Not much interest to me but they would look cool on replays.
Crash on the grass and burn your car to the ground would not be cool. Any body for in car fire extinguishers?
