Stock Yellowbird ftw :)

I absolutely adore this car. No abs, brake in time, shift back, blip (i use a g27 with h-shifter) and then quickly get back on the throttle (for about 25-35%) to keep grip on the rear tires with the rr setup. Absolutely love it. It's a b!tch to drive, but once you love eachother and respect eachothers limits, it's the best drive in the game. I wish they made it a premium.

You really have to grow a relationship with that car, feels almost like you're arguing with the car all the while you're trying to get it around corners and that's really fun!

Cars that are similar are the BTR and Lancia Stratos Rally Car. Try them if you have them!
 
Not exactly bad handling but cars that are very difficult to handle like the Yellowbird or RUF BTR are really fun to drive. In fact most RWD cars are great fun. I hate AWD.
 
A busy driver is a happy driver. Well, this one at least. The closer it comes to tears, the bigger the grin when it doesn't.

It's funny that, because F1 drivers hate cars that are undriveable and have a hard time, and they find more pleasure in driving a car, that is really well balanced. And here we are talking about how cars that oversteer are way more fun.

Well, when you're getting paid to bring results in a world of extreme technical precision and perfection, you tend to view things a little differently. F1 cars are designed to be perfect and the slightest slide means a big loss of time. Also, F1 isn't all of racing and I'm sure I've heard other drivers say they enjoy a lively car. But when you need to win you don't want extra challenges or surprises. Keep in mind that we are doing this for fun.
 
Stock Cobra off the recommended list...no assists, the default SH tyres and balls of solid lead. It is one of the most hilariously suicidal experiences in GT5 and I certainly recommend it if you want to brush up on your steering and throttle control :sly:

I remember joining an online room just about to start a one-make race with the Cobra. I wondered why everyone was psyching themselves up, having driven the car around High Speed Ring a few times and not really struggling with it. We were racing on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, though, and I was the only one without ABS...

It certainly felt suicidal, but then so is the F40 in a Shuffle Race. Keep it under control, even being over-cautious, and it's still fast enough to beat everything else.


@ Morgoth666: exactly. I remember watching a clip from NASCAR racing, and one of the drivers was "complaining" over the radio about the car being too loose; he said it was a hell of a lot of fun, but not exactly fast. Racing drivers are people too (mostly...), so it stands to reason that they like oversteer as much as anyone else, as long as it's not slowing them down too much. 👍

EDIT: To contribute to the actual discussion: it depends. Some cars are just frustrating, others really rewarding, even if they understeer. If I find that careful attention to the car's dynamics, with alterations to my driving to suit, yields results, then it can be enjoyable. If I can't wrestle any improvements, then it's just not fun. I guess it's more about adapting to the car's traits, those that are consistent and predictable (even if they're wild, like the Yellowbird) in their own way can be the most fun as you "get to know them".
 
Fully moded Dodge Neon SRT4 on sport hard tires and did the stars and stripes seasonal. Nothing like passing vipers, corvettes, etc while laying rubber in third. Its so ridiculous, its fun.
 
I actually find understeer fun too. It's not necessarily slower than oversteer you know. Just a different challenge.
 
I hate understeer too. However to properly setup a car for downhill course, car should be adjusted to mild undesteer for best results.
 
I love oversteer (but I love to drift, so thats an obvious one), but I actually like it more (in racing anyways) when I get a car that goes where i want it to (or at least fits my drving style so perfectly, that it has no understeer or oversteer), case in point, the Subaru Legacy spec B wagon 98', or something like that, I got it in a shuffle race, and man, I beat a ton of good cars, that car just went were I wanted it to go, just a great handling car, and then theres the Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5 - 16 Evolution II '91, and its touring car cousin, they both have amazing handling, these are two cars that I think have great handling. But yeah, I would ratcher have an oversteering car than an understeering car, a car with understeer is almost impossible to drive (unless you give it a boot full of throttle and handbrake, lol).
