Bahrain race has been cancelled

I can't say I'm gutted about not seeing the race possibly ever again (not really a classic) but I am gutted for those living under such a government.

All this fuss and the relocating of the GP2 Asia should hopefully give Bernie the final hint that everybody wants the San Marino GP back again. Such an awesome track and perfectly accommodating F1 since it's revamp.

Formula 1 outgrew Imola a long time ago. The removal of the Bassa might have made it flow a little better, but that's about it. Not to mention that the kink on the start line in particular has caused a lot of accidents of late, and cannot be ironed out with ease.

Agreed but we all know its money that is the issue, not what people want. Bernie would probably be quite happy to stage a race at San Marino again with the right amount of cash. Trouble is he wants to make the most of newer markets in Asia, Middle East and now back to America.
I expect this just makes the issue of who loses their race to fit in Texas easier, as I doubt we were going to get 21 races next season.

If Bahrain comes back to the calendar, then it looks like the plan will be to run the race on October 30th, and move the inuagural Indian Grand Prix back to December 4th. The Indian Grand Prix organisers will have to agree to it first, though.

To be brutally honest, I believe it's just a matter of time before the UAE sinks back into the sands of obscurity. And if it takes the Bahrain and Abu Dhabi races with it, I doubt anyone will miss them.

Team bosses are, according to various UK media, resisting the idea of dislocating the Indian race into the beginning of December and placing Bahrain in the current Indian slot.

That doesn't bode well for Bahrain, we're told...
