Ban the concepts!

I don't really mind them, or hate them enough to have them banned from the game. They're not my vehicle of choice, but some are OK. I think PD should keep adding them to the game; they still have a "fun factor."

I wouldn't mind having this one in the game...

Top of my head... Is that the LPG-fuelled Dodge Charger R/T Concept?

And here is another reason why concepts should stay (I'm surprised a Poll wasn't released on this).

Gran Turismo has grown to the point where it not just a game anymore. It is a marketing tool as well. Just look at that Toyota demo with the MTRC and Prius. Had concepts not been in the game, how the hell would anyone know what's coming out, and the performance capabilities thereof? The MTRC had this memorable phrase by our own Solid Lifters:

"Someone forgot...that tandem seating is gay." -Solid Lifters, months ago

But no matter how you look at it, if you can't drive cars that aren't in the game (like the RX-8 concept from GT3), don't you think it would be wise to come up with the concept? I mean, concept cars don't have to just be million-dollar prototypes that go to only auto shows and have nothing to show for their capabilities. I mean, just look at Volkswagen's W12 concept car. I can recall it going through long-distance speed tests, and that car kicked ASS. So why not keep concept cars in GT games, even if they are just... concepts.

With Cadillac bidding for a spot in GT4, it probably won't even matter if the Sixteen makes it. So, marketing is my other reason. If any more, I'll reply in the future granted this one doesn't get locked.
 
Eh, don't care. Keep them. Never use them myself unless there's a Concept Challenge or something. GT4 seems to be focusing on auto history but history is only as good as the lessons it teaches us, and those lessons wind up getting applied to the future, and that's what concept cars are - a glance at the future.

**** I bet most people couldn't distinguish if they weren't endlessly billed as 'concept' cars.

What's "better"? And is "better" more fun? How could anyone control if the simulation of a concept is like the real car if that hasn't been build yet? Some of them are no more then dream cars. I'd prefer a good old 1967 GT40 Mk4 over the GT Concept 2002.

But some concept cars are fun, I agree with most of the users here. They shouldn't be banned (not all of them :)).

The M5 concept isn't in production yet?!

Chances are that it will probably be... but nothing is certain... BMW might go bust due to some dodgy insider trading or something!?

How can you know if the car will make it into production or not?
 
I personally don`t like some of the concept cars on gt4 but there are concept cars that i do like. The ford gt90 being one of them. I hope they include it in the game as it truly was/is an amazing car. pitty it never made it to production tho.

I personally don`t think it would help complaining on what we want or don`t want in the game here. If you feel you have a valid point go make a petition and send it to PD.

You know what. your just a ****ing grumpy asshole that sounds like a 60 year old who must just always have things perfect. SFW if ppl make new threads. i`ve seen alot of topics that has been done to death but when a newbie opens a thread there is actually a discussion going. and some just get flamed. so either inforce rules to keep them where you want them or STFU.

This is the reason i never posted alot. coz some ppl who have been here for some time think they own the place and just make it uncomfortable for everyone else.
 
Start the petition then, no one's stopping you. Who knows what you might accomplish.
 
well...i like some Concept cars (but not all!!) especially the CARS which are modified by Gran Turismo!!! EXAMPLES:
Nissan 350 Z Gran Turismo AERO,350 Z LM and the SKYLINE Concept LM (with 7 GEARS!!)
Mazda RX-8 LM, RX-7 LM (from GT3)
Honda NSX-R LM, S 2000 LM (from GT3)
Subaru Impreza LM (from GT3)
Mitsubishi GTo LM (also GT3)

These are PROFESSIONAL tuned/modified Racecars which perhaps should show how the cars of this Manufactures would look to be like when they started at LE MANS!!!
 
You know what will happen Naude, you will make the petition, get the response, and even if you manage to send it to PD it will get deleted. Even if it was a valid point, PD pay for each and every license, they spend time choosing what cars will and will not cut i and get into the game and nothing you say will make them dump their idea and change what they have started.
 
Wow... I'm watching this recenly-played rugby test with the Australian and the Pacific Islanders, and they actually said something I'd normally hear in the NFL "it's going upstairs." This coming after Australia tried to score a try, and the officials had to use instant replay to decide whether or not one of the Wallabies got the try in the 39th minute to make it 10-0. And he got the try.

Anyhow, back to GT.

First off, stop knocking on my boy Eagle. A petition to ban concepts. Where would this idea rank? Probably... second to the petition to close GT4 forums until GT4 is released. I mean, you wouldn't want to do such a thing. They would reject your petition like a girl rejecting the idea of returning with her cheating boyfriend. And with all the American pop songs, you know how it goes. Heck, JoJo Lee had her latest spin on it. And while I couldn't care less about American pop, I would like to say "go Hillary Duff!" Why? She's from Houston, TX.

But anyhow, if my rambling makesno sense, here's the simplified version from a certain person:

General concensus seems to be on keeping concept cars, how surprising.

Viper GTS R concept

Did anybody back then say, "No!! These are concept cars therefore they should not be in GT3!!" (Though I'm guessing some morons did)
 
Keep the Concepts. In the History of the GT series the Concepts have provided some of the best cars, and also some of the worst !

If it's still the M5 concept in GT4 than the brakkes won't be any better.
Because BMW forgot some details on the concept, one of those details were the brakes, they were the same as on a normal 5-series. If the real M5 is in the game then the brakes are probably ceramic :dopey:
 
Driving really crappy cars is fun. You don't always have to be going as fast as possible to enjoy yourself in Gran Turismo.

P.S: Concept Cars are awesome!
 
^ Capn agreed... i just redid the Vitz series (i wanted to collect the Castrol Supra... i'm not mental yet) but had a lot of fun racing the little ****box around Rome. Tweaked the suspension gave it a little oversteer and was sliding that beast around with a cheek to cheek grin... who knew!
