Question:

If there was a carset where you could paint your own F1 car, would you be interested?

awwww c'mon Metar, just think of the old skool F1 cars you could paint. It'd be like every year F1 carset just on a generic chassis.

So what's wrong with calling it A1GP '08 Generic, with Ferrari V8s and chassis', and letting us paint the darn thing?

Cause its not an A1 car that I've templated =P

Formula Masters? :P

Show it, then ;)

(Formula Masters is the most boring racing I've seen since overtaking became boring. Seriously. 6 lead-changes in a single lap at Monza, and I switch channel to the Catalan Rally.)

Good responce so far =D

I got some other F1 blueprints that I want to template first before I take it to the batracer forum. It will give me something more substancial to try and convince the masses.

I do want to try and keep them within a tight year-frame. The one posted is 2002, another that I am starting now is 2000, I might do late 90's up to 04. Heck, if I can get a good blueprint of an 07 car, I might even do that. lol

"Charkaoui Crashes In On Ferrari's Party"

Today a Ferrari won the Turkish Grand Prix, however a BMW stole the headlines as Abdeslam Charkaoui took the lead in the drivers championship. But it wasn't all plain sailing..

Starting Order (Top 10)

1st: Leroy Laxative - McLaren - 1:23.622
2nd: Yuuji Kawasie - BMW Sauber - +0.057
3rd: Metar Heller-Algazi - Ferrari - +0.066
4th: Lee Davidson - Honda - +0.082
5th: Abdeslam Charkaoui - BMW Sauber - +0.112
6th: Emma Simpson - Toyota - +0.196
7th: Vito Diepstraten - Honda - +0.203
8th: Danny graham - Ferrari - +0.416
9th: Jonny Lynn - Toyota - +0.545
10th: Duncan Hutchison - +0.584

The Race

Even before the lights went out, controversey was brewing when Ferrari's Danny Graham appeared to misjudge his braking into his grid slot, missing it by a good couple of feet. None the less the lights went out and the race began. The McLaren of Laxative made a fien start fending off Kawasie into Turn 1, behind them was the Ferrari of Heller-Algazi and Honda's Davidson. Graham made up three spots through Turns one and two seemingly using the forward grid position to great effect, easially picking off Diepstraten as he took a wider route into the first turn with Simpson hung out to dry in the middle of Turn two, on the exit, the Ferrari power trounced BMW's Charkaoui. However it didn't stop there, he quickly took Davidson into the fourth turn, planting his Ferrari on the inside line and he then used the same tactic on his own team mate later on in the lap. At the end of the first lap, it was Laxative, Kawasie, Graham, Heller-Algazi, Davidson and Charkaoui in the Top 6, further behind however the was a collision between Vito Diepstraten and the Toyota of Jonny Lynn, causing the latter to use full oppisite lock to counter a tank slapper on the exit of the final turn, the Northan Irishman lost three places.

Lynn and Diepstraten Before Their Collision

Charkaoui put a move on Davidson similar to Graham's on the same victim on Lap two, whilst Aguri's Chris Smith dove into the pits complaining of immense understeer. On Lap 4, Diepstraten's day got from bad to worse as he damaged his car whilst driving over the kurbs at Turn One, a piece of the undertray was seen flying out the back of the car, however it didn't appear to hamper him as on the same lap he overtook Dave Carr Smith! Meanwhile back at the front, Metar Heller-Algazi put on a superb show of late braking when he took second from Kawasie in a daring move in the hairpin, getting the Tifosi on their feet. Jonny Lynn's day ended promptly on Lap 7 when he binned his Toyota at the daring Turn 8 and in the process stallign his engine, it's his seventh retirement this season. By Lap 8, Heller-Algazi was really turning on the pressure to Laxative and tried a number of attempts at passing the McLaren. On laps 9 and 10 Davidson proceeded to loose 2 positions to Hutchison and Kelava, soon after complaining to the team that his car felt like it had no wing.

On Lap 13 however, an added factor to the race was to begin as the track began to get a light covering of rain, BMW Sauber were the first to realise the greasy conditions bringing in Kawasie from 4th on Lap 14, Honda bringind Davidson in on the next lap. However both drivers were to miss out as Hanson, still on Cut Slicks, lost control of the Renault down the backstraight and span into the barriers soon after, causing terminal damage and for the safety car to come out. Everyone in the Top 10 except Davis dived into the pits at first notice with the Williams driver deciding it was too wet on then xt lap, causing him to drop to last of the runners. Both Graham and Huchison had to queue in the pits waiting for their respective team mates to finish their stops, causing the McLaren to loose two places while Graham fell back 4. Kelava was the only driver to stay on dries untill Lap 19, when, whilst still un Safety Car conditions, he drove into the pits for his second stop.

BMW's Charkaoui Followed By The McLaren Of Hutchison While Behind The Safety Car

As soon as the race restarted on Lap 22, the heavens opened even more and a cautious Kawasie again took to the pits along with Heller-Algazi to change to Full Wets, quickly followed by Davidson and Laxative (out of the lead) on the next lap. On Lap 23 there was a downpour on half the circuit, causing Hutchison and Graham to also change to Full Wets. So on Lap 25, the Top 6 ran Charkaoui, Carr-Smith, Simpson, Jones, Diepstraten and Kelava. Heller-Algazi was first of the Full Wets in 7th, although that would soon become 5th as he took advantage of the trecherous conditions. Diepstraten fell from 5th to 8th in a matter of two laps and was quickly pursued by team mate Davidson who made the change to Full Wets. However on the very next lap, Lap 28, Vito made a vital mistake at the hairpin causing his suspension to become damaged, he tried in vain to continue but eventually pulled up by the side of the final turn. The Safety Car was once again put into use.

Diepstraten's Mid-Saeason Slump Continued

Davidson, Kawasie and Simpson all made use of the Safety Car by pitting. The race restarted on Lap 34, action was immedatley seen at the front when Metar Heller-Algazi stuck his Ferrari into the inside of Charkaoui to take the lead of the Grand Prix. Next lap saw Laxative jump from 4th to 2nd with a fantastic lap, overtaking Carr-Smith into Turn 1 and Charkaoui into Turn 8! He was now only 2 and a half seconds away from Heller-Algazi. However on Lap 38, he made a mandatory pit stop and fell down to 12th, whilsti n the process of showing his displeasure at McLaren's tactic to not bring him in during the Saftey Car. Lap 41 saw Kelava pit with Carr-Smith following 2 laps later in the Super Aguri. On Lap 44, Davis exited the race from 4th at the same spot as Diepstraten and Hanson, handing the position over to Davidson who was flying in the Honda, Charkaoui also pitted from the lead on the same lap. As the conditions started to ease back a bit at around Lap 52, Davidson took a gamble on coming into the pits for Intermediates, causing the Brit to fall down to 11th, he now had to hope for the rain to stop. On the very next lap, Grham had a terrible exit out of Turns 9 and 10 giving Charkaoui a easy pass for second, Ferrari's dream 1-2 suddenly became 1-3.

Davis Lost Out To The Harsh Conditions

After Charkaoui's pass, there were only passes for minor positions and as the Cheqered Flag dropped on Lap 57, it was the hand of Metar Heller-Algazi which was lifted out of his cockpit, signalling his satisfaction with the result. 2 Seconds behind was Charkaoui with Danny graham rounding ou the podium. Carr-Smith came home 4th for Super Aguri whilst Kelava finished in 5th, seemingly spending as much time in the pits as he did on track, 6th was Simpson who lost out to the Renault on the final lap of the race. The last two points positions went to Laxative, who could easially have won the race, and Kawasie who like Kelava, spent as much time as competitively possible in the pits. Hutchison, Smith, Davidson and Jones were the last of those to be classified.

Heller-Algazi Celebrates His Victory

The results have pushed Charkaoui into the lead of the drivers championship by 2 points from McLaren's Duncan Hutchison. Race Winner Heller-Algazi is now 5th. In the constructors championship, McLaren still lead Ferrari with BMW now pulling away from Honda in 3rd.

Thanks everyone, right I'm thinking, do you guys wanna go for the Lottery method again to shake things up a bit for next season or do we just post our names up when the season ends?

What's happening? :)

EDIT: To follow on Jef's carset idea, I kinda tried to make a template for my own livery to go on top..

What went so wrong?

Plus, can anybody explain this?

Lap 37, P2, 2.1 sec behind Metar.
Lap 38 of 57
-i
Laxative makes a pitstop from P2 lasting 7.24 seconds. Tyre choice is Full Wet. 18 laps of fuel are taken onboard.
Lap 39 of 57
-i
Heller Algazi makes a pitstop from P1 lasting 5.70 seconds. Tyre choice is Full Wet. 17 laps of fuel are taken onboard.

I end up about 8 seconds behind Metar! Surely I couldn't have lost about 4.5 seconds on the track that lap! :(

(upon closer inspection, my in-lap was 1:55.2, Metar's was 1:52.9... what gives?)

In-laps and Out-laps. How much are you pushing in the pit-o-meter? I'm pushing 70 on the driver's side, so that bumps up in- and out-laps quite a bit.

Or, I'm actually Michael Schummler, and have removed my fuel-filter in the nozzle.

haha Lee, you had a go at the Macca then. Good effort, interesting paintjob.

Here's a little update on my progress. 2nd chassis pretty much complete. Lee guessed straight away what it was based on. lol

52. From experience, any higher and I fluff up a) entering the pits or b) I stall.
