You don't, actually - I only verified my email address yesterday (had hotmail junk filter set to delete on arrival, so the email confirmation email kept getting automatically deleted).

You can also use pookmail if you just need an email, but it needs verification. Comes in pretty handy sometimes.

Edit: GTP F1 2006 season one just ended. Got 13th, overall. Damn.

Click Garage, Car Setup and then just move the sliders to what you think will work and click Test to do a test lap.

but i dont do the race it just says what lap time was done
 
It does that. You practice for the race first (getting settings right et al) and then you qualify (but only when the game is full and at in a certain time period at the venue).

Then the race will start at a certain time as well.
 
Just to let you know, you don't actually control your race and stuff like a video game. It's a browsergame, which means that it's all basically just calculations and crap, which are then thrown into a system which spits out a play-by-play of the resulting scenario as each set of circumstances (driver characteristics, driver settings, car settings, track, track condition, etc.) dictates.
 
BUT ITS FUN.As long as you don't go crazy and make 20 different accounts and every has 2 public and 2 private games lol.
