Update

Champcar Series

My team mate is now refusing to test until I have but at least he now posts his setup. I think the fact I'm leading the championship by a fair margin while he wallows about in 11th has something to do with it. 2 more races run yielding a 2nd and a 5th leave me 16 points clear of the field after 5 races.

GTP V8 Series

Mostly good results, including a win at the first endurance race, sees me still hanging on to the championship at this stage. However, Bathurst is next and everybody will be out to get me.

V8 Guinea Pig Series

Shoot me now! I've really started to suffer quite badly. At one time I was 2nd in the championship but, alas, I am now in 10th. No speed, too many mistakes, and no chance of improving.

Hanon Snatches Win!

The Bahrain Grand Prix took place earlier today and it saw a tight finish to a fasinating race. After quali it was Brit Lee Davidson on pole with Chris Taylor alongside him, however all the action took place behind them at the start with Taylor's team mate Ashley Butler stalling his Ferrari from 4th, there was a pile up at the first turn involving Baciu, Whitcomb, Vega and Graham. Whitcomb and Vega would not take anymore action in the race from the damage caused by the collisions.

Lap 9 saw another collision involving Nearn in the Williams and Mason in the Toyota, it appeared to cause Nearn some internal damage to his WIlliams but was able to continue aswell as Mason. Davidson was still in the lead but was driving in defence mode from Taylor in secondm however on the next lap the Ferrari appeared to have a suspension problem and it drove straight on at the first corner, causing Chris to loose 4 places. Davidson dove int othe pits on lap 19 along with second place Hanon in the Midland, however it was the frenchman who came out of the pits before Davidson in the McLaren, it would prove to be a costly error for McLaren.

His team mate Herman Chang was having his own problems with the Mercedies powerplant, complaining of loss in drive he dived int othe pits to see if the team could spot anything before sending him back on his way. AlMomen also dived into the pits wit ha problem this time in the suspension, it caused concern for Midland especially as Hanon seemed to be competitive. On lap 26 Beyens was leading but further behind a good battle between Taylor and Nearn was taking place, however Nearn tried a desperate attepmt at a pass into the final corner and got it all wrong as Taylor closed the door. The Williams lost grip and beached in the sand causing the 3rd retirement of the race.

On lap 34 the standings were as follows, Dubois in the lead followed by Hanon in the Midland. A long first stint gave Australian Blake Haswell 3rd but was being chased down by 4th placed Lee Davidson. However the Brit was lucky to complete the lap as Domingues behind him in the Super Aguri had a rear wing failure down the front straight pitching the car int othe barriers at the side before coming back over the track just behind Davidson's car. Domingues became the 5th retirement after Lovett lost his Red Bull on lap 30, capping off a poor opening round for the team. Lap 36 saw a change for the lead with Hanon sticking a great pass on Dubois into the first corner, the Frenchman out braked the Canadian to perfection.

Lap 40 and the next retirement took place when Jef Beyens in the Renault came together with Brad Horton, now of Honda. Horton tried a late lunge into turn 1 but Beyens closed the door causing the Honda to drive into the rear right wheel of the Renault. Beyens would no longer continue whilst Horton only had slight front wing damage. Come lap 50 Dubois and Davidson were scrapping it out for 3rd place behind Hanon (2nd) and Haswell (1st). The McLaren smelt blood and on lap 54 struck down the inside of the Williams into the final corner, Dubois was obviously not impressed by the pass when he stuck his hand out of the cockpit in frustration. Further Ahead Haswell and Hanon were duking it out for the win.

On lap 56 of 57, Hanon knew he had to take a chance as soon as he saw it. Haswell ran a bit wide at turn 1 and it was enough for Hanon to get up beside the Aussie, they drove side by side through 2 and up towards turn 3 before Hanon took the inside line to take the lead causing a great roar inside the Midland camp. The Frenchman then went on to take the win by 1.2 seconds. Davidson came home a strong third pushing Haswell for the line but ending 3 tenths behind the Honda. Dubois completely a strong debut in 4th for Williams with Duncan Hutchison having a quiet race in 5th, reigning champion Yuuji Kawasie brought his BMW Sauber over the line in 6th in what he considers a poor performance, Taylor completed what was ultimatley a disapointing race in 7th for Ferrari. The second Honda of Brad Horton clawed it's way home in 8th.

Next up for the racers is Sepang where temperatures and humidity are sure to play havoc with the weekend.

No pics right now, I'll try tomorrow.

Great little race report there Bee, is that complimentary or do we pay? :D

The lead changed quite a few times in that race, unfortunatly i wasnt with it last race, i still hold the Quickest pit-stop time though :)

BMW Qualifying Report - Sepang

This weeks qualifying was another quite saddening performance for BMW. Jarrett Allman qualified exceptionally well compared to last weeks performance, while Yuuji Kawasie made a complete 180 and qualified 19th. So far this seems to be the general pattern for BMW qualifying. If it happens again, measures will be taken to ensure we do not have these kind of qualifying runs again.

Driver Comments

Jarrett Allman: "The car felt great today. I seem to always do exceptional in the rain. Hopefully the stormy predictions for the race will help me."

Yuuji Kawasie: Kawasie refused to comment.

(Off Topic: Does the Race weather icon (very stormy or whatever) mean I should put on monsoons? Or are wets more suitable?)

I think monsoons , P2 is a good place to start from and its even better when your team mate is front of you :D

Well Sepang was an eventful race for all, congrads to the top 3, it was a quickly changing race.

Lets see how Melbourne goes.

Stupid heap of **** Ferrari engine! Broke a goddamn throttle part!

BMW Race Report - Sepang

The BMW drivers had an excellent day, despite the harsh weather. Kawasie stayed strong throughout the race, as did Allman, until his steering rack broke, causing him to retire from the race. This was not the driver's fault, it was the mechanics. The problem is currently being investigated.

Driver Comments

Kawasie: "Wow, I did good!"

Allman: "If I find the mechanic responsible for this, his name will be in the Sunday paper.."

Wow, a very interesting race. Good to know that the BMWs have good race pace if they 1) don't break down and b) don't pit ten zillion times.

Once again I am the king of wet weather pit stops, doin' it 3 times (twice in 4 laps) for a total of 28 seconds. Incidentally, the new record for pit stop length this season is 22.76 seconds. Cost me 3rd place!

Tough break for my teammate, but at least he was running well.
Ditto for, uh, Chang, Horton, Bee, Hanon, and Blake o_O Lots of retirements from high up.

At least I got points, I suppose. Consistency is the key!

EDIT: And some great setups we got there, eh? I tuned mine for only 90% wet conditions! It looked good until it turned about 20% wet :scared: 37 percent setup, rock on!

BMW Quali Report - Melbourne

It was a miserable day out for the BMW team, as both cars qualified pretty far out of the top 10. Mechanics had been betting on the fact that it would flash flood the track any second now, and sent the cars out on rain tires. Unfortunately, it stayed dry and so it's going to be an uphill battle.

Kawasie: "It was definitely a dissapointing outing, especially because we have a pretty bad race setup right now. I wasn't able to swap data with Allman during practice, I think he was out drinking with the pitbabes, so even if we installed dries, I don't know how much further up the lineup we would get. It's going to be tough in the race but I think we can make it into the points."

Allman, as you would expect, had one hell of a hangover and was unavailable for comment.

Butler Takes Smash And Grab Win!

Ashley Butler celebrated only his 2nd career victory at Sepeng yesterday after surviving a destructive race.

It was a Midland front row for the start of the race with rain showers all over the circuit and the odd flash of lightening, it was sure to be an eventful race. Off the start AlMomen crept off the line loosing a number of places before finding first, into the first corner Allman in the BMW and Dubois in the Williams had a coming together over 5th place, Allman ended up pointing the wrong way whilst Dubois drove on as if nothing had happened! At the end of the first lap it was a Ferrari in the lead, Chris Taylor's Ferrari who cleanly overtook Hanon into the hairpin.

Lap 5, the weather was whipping around making small streams on the circuit, second placed Brad Horton exited the race after his rear wing failed on the back straight causing the Honda to dive backwards into the wall. Horton was fine, the Honda on the otherhand, was not. Now they had concerns over team mate Blake Haswell's car. Lap 10 saw controversy as Herman Chang's McLaren was taken out by the Renault of Duncan Hutchison, the incident went to the stewards but no penalties was given. Either way, Chang was out.

After the resulted saftey car period, the race started again on lap 14 but this seemed to have tricked the McLaren team when they called in Davidson to change tyres, of course as all the other cars got to speed, Davidson fell to 18th from 2nd. AlMomen was in the lead amazingly after his start, behind him was Beyens, Baciu, Allman, Kawasie and the struggling Hutchison. Haswell and Hanon rounded out the top 8. However the Aussie would go on a rampage on the next lap overtaking an amazing 4 cars in a single lap jumping him to 3rd. He didn't stop there and made short work of Jef Beyens in the Renault, he now had his sights set on the race lead. The eventual pass took place on lap 22 into the first corner, the crowd jumped up in celebration as the Season 2 champion took the lead. Also on that lap, McLarens poor weekend came to a early end when Davidson lost the back of the car into turn 11 causing his first DNF of the season.

2 Laps later Allman pulled up with steering issues and became the fourth retirement of the race. Haswell pitted on lap 28, obviously on a one stopper but managed to keep the lead showing the Australian's true pace. Lap 32 saw retirement number 6 well Bahrain winner Hanon went off track with a suspension failure, obviously annoyed he even had a go at the marshalls! 2 laps later Taylor had a collision with Whitcomb whilst attempting to pass, both cars seemed to have damage but was able to continue. Then on lap 37 a major surprise took place when Blake Haswell lost the Honda whilst in the lead and planted it into the tyre wall, he was surely on for the win.

Retirement number 7 took place on lap 39 when Duncan Hutchison threw the Renault into the gravel ending a dissapointing race for him, 9 laps later and there was a great battle for the lead between Dubois and Ashley Butler in the Ferrari, Butler had been catching the Williams at around a second a lap at it was a pretty easy pass down the backstraight for the first time in the race, he was leading and never gave it up. In the remaining 8 laps Almomen had a tyre failure and fell out of a points finish whilst Lovett was the final retirement after a throttle failure. In total 8 cars failed to finish.

Remind me to borrow an Aguri for the next race, gotta be better than this Renault at the moment. lol

Can I repeat my season 3 surprise win at Melbourne again?

Hmm.

Oh yeah, I won the Sandown 500 in public V8's :D

edit: And 4th at bathurst, putting me 3rd overall, 11pts behind second, and 314pts behind first :D

seriously, now I'm not even joking, why are both my games going down the ****ter?
