At this point, my loadout is Thermal Camo (Autoloader at first to help with the long reload times), Proximity Defense (though IR smoke would probably be more helpful) and Anti-Air missiles (This is the only useful secondary weapon IMO, as the regular rockets are effective against both Armor & Infantry).

I generally went around the edge of the map, trying to get close to the outer-most flags and either capped them or started shooting. That's pretty much it. On Alborz Mountain I usually took the "shortcut" next to the road that connects B & C. From there, I would park, sit back, and wait for someone to come and cap C (which happened a lot, since it also controls the Gunship). That's how I got most of my points (which you don't need a lot of), along with using the AA missiles to take down air support. Because of how the aiming is literally hit or miss, shooting at a distance can be very tricky.

Also, A couple of notes:

1) The ATACMS missile is almost useless. It works in the same way as a guided shell, including the effects of a SOFLAM, but if an enemy tank is close enough for you to lock-on, that means it's also close enough to start shooting you if the driver is observant. Also, IR smoke does counter the missile as expected.

2) The Proximity Defense is bugged. It deploys an explosive that kills anyone trying to sneak up on you and gets too close. When you deploy it, it'll no doubt kill anyone close to the truck, but it can also damage you sometimes while inside.

3) When you start shooting, EVERYONE will see you, and your opponents will go "Free kill!" Heck, I even had a guy ram me with his jet every time I got in the thing.

4) When you shoot, go to the pause menu and look at the map. You'll start seeing little circles on the screen. Those circles are where your rockets are hitting. From there, you can adjust your aim as needed.

Neither did I.
Definitely need to try that out, as so far I've only been able to rely on friends to tell me where I'm hitting.

Ive been liking The SVD with a Kobra since the last map pack came out, playing CQB with a semi auto sniper is quite fun and since AK droped ive been using my ACR with a 6x on it. It does quite well at range surpisingly.

I have finally got my Maverick dogtag, Something i thought i didnt have it in me to complete. I have been getting painful scores and k/d's while doing it and thankfully i can go back to enjoying the game and playing properly.

Thank god. :p

Only "need a ride?" one left wich i left purposely till last as its the easiest, And can be done in normal play.

Maverick wasn't so hard in the AK maps but "Get to tha choppa"? That one is a pain in the ***, everytime I enter in a attack chopper I am spammed with rockets which makes it impossible to destroy tanks, currently I am still at 11/25 tanks destroyed and I average sometimes 1 in each match when my teammates aren't douchebags that destroy the chopper because their friend didn't joined because of me.

Thats the exact opposite to me as im proficient at heli's, Clearly not at jets. If your struggling for the tank destroys, be the gunner as its much easier to get the destroy.

I am not sure I will be getting the Maverick dogtag. I am awful at jet piloting.

Exactly what i thought a few days ago, I had a total of 5 jet kills before i started that i got for one earlier assignment. I dont quite know how iv'e managed it but i have.

I think I've mentioned it before, but for those who feel that their jet piloting leaves much to be desired, try switching around the controls. The first thing I did when I got the game was adjust some settings, and one of those adjustments was to swap the stick controls for jets and helis. I feel like my setup is much more intuitive (and is the closes resemblance to the controls of the Ace Combat series).

That is what I am doing currently, I am not a bad pilot on attack helicopters compared to jets but I always lack the ability to escape from the people firing rockets in the ground. And usually when I am about to destroy a tank my partner runs away and I miss my shot, getting kills with jets wasn't hard I always targetted the AC 130 for 2 easy kills and the attack helicopters on Alborz Mountain for disabled helicopters.

I have no problem with the control scheme, I get the jet to do anything i want, Its more the tactics and evasion that i start to struggle on. Now iv'e done the maverick i doubt i'll touch the jets again. Except for in AK, Where the gunship is causing problems.👍

Ah, well i tend to pair up with a friend, So a tank never escapes us:sly:

Oh yeah ofcourse, the gunship was a great help in me getting the kills, except for the countless times that i would soften the gunship up only for an engi with an igla to take the kills from me:banghead::lol:

I think you dont realise how awful i was at the jets:lol:, plus i had no unlocks when i started wich ofcourse made it a lot worse. The "get to the choppa" was a walk in the park compared to "maverick" imo. Im surprised anyone would find it easier harder than the choppa one.

Just remembered that tomorrow is PC Premium Armoured Kill day, I can't wait to get home from work, start downloading it then fall asleep before it's ready. Maybe they'll be kind enough to release it in the morning (UK time) so I can download it in preparation but seeing as DICE seems to stand for Disappointment In Computer Entertainment I somehow doubt it.

I finished the 5 new premium assignments and now i'm going back to MGS4 to finish the game and get my platinum.

It would appear everyone is having too much fun to actually post anything! I had my first go on AK tonight, my first impressions are that it's very good. Gorgeous to look at and technically impressive, I spent some time on Alborz Mountains just watching a few fights going on through my L96 scope from half a kilometre away. I have yet to try Bandar Desert yet. I liked Armoured Shield, I think Death Valley (is that what it's called?) is my least favourite so far but the game I played there was pretty much dead, 5v4 is no way to enjoy a huge map. It's barely enough to enjoy a CQ map, even!

I have no idea what to think of Armoured Kill just yet. I just logged onto Origin a bit ago and am waiting for the download to finish.

Downloading as well....

Off to dinner and when I come back hope to get some game time in....

Then I became distracted by the USA versus Jamaica World Cup Qualifier. I am about to start playing now. :dopey:

EDIT: I have played part of two games. One on Armored Shield and the other on Alborz Mountains. I did not play on Armored Shield long enough to get much of an impression of the map. However, I did briefly use a tank destroyer and as the name suggests, tank destroyers are effective against tanks. :dopey: I did play on Alborz Mountains a bit longer and the map is very large. Each flag is quite a distance apart and it should be mentioned that there is quite a bit of elevation change. A well placed SOFLAM that overlooks the valley below could be incredibly effective at deterring enemy vehicle support.

I just got a very brief amount of time in the AC-130 and managed to destroy a Flanker with the main cannon. That is the highlight of Armored Kill at the moment. Otherwise, the only thing I have done is run around Alborz Mountains not seeing anyone from the other team or dying constantly to anything and everything. Until I learn the maps better, this is going to be a frustrating experience.

EDIT 2: I have played a bit of Tank Superiority now. The game mode could be really fun with a coordinated team. Guided Shells are amazing. Without someone using a SOFLAM or designating targets from the third seat, the Guided Shells are useless. The same goes for Javelins, as the range without designation is just not long enough.

EDIT 3: I have played at least five games and have yet to record a single win.

I must admit, you console guys gushing enthusiasm really has me wanting to buy this DLC!

Oh no. Wait...not wanting, thats right, not wanting me to get the DLC. :indiff:

Well, so far all I have seen is:

1) Rush is broken
2) TS is ho hummish
3) CQ is ??

Give me something to get excited about ;)

Your correct on the first two counts but CQ is CQ lol.

I feel a few of us have given some good insights into the DLC, Wether it be on the new vehicles or maps, The controversial gunship or the assignments. I think the reason we arent going mad over it is because its battlefield, Its very similar to playing on Kharg, Op firestorm or Noshahr but on an even bigger scale and with the the addition of the Gunship. If your a battlefield player of old im sure you'd enjoy it, But its not a radical change from the normal game, The Gunship and new vehicles do make AK a new experience from the original game and make it worth playing. I think the map design is very well done and they all look great and have a nice atmosphere while in them. If your on the fence about purchasing it i would urge you to watch some video's on youtube, Its hard to for us to explain but its the same as the core game, But its not at the same time. If you see some footage you may decide if it looks like something you want to play or not.

I doubt any of that helped you:lol:, But i thought i'd try.:)👍

I am loving this content so far.
Still trying to learn some alot tho. I am really digging bandaar and armored shield.

Bandaar has a gulf of oman feel to it though i wish the made the a'b'c flags a little further apart. The neighborhood road is pretty long but the flags are somewhat to close.

Armored is just a good map. Some nice clustered buildings around a couple of the flags and also plenty of wide open battles (duh).

Arborez mtn is my achilles heal. I can never turn a good match from there. I tend to do ok down at a and e flags but once i start getting up the mountain forget it.

And i havent really gotten along with death valley to well either. I dont have alot of time on this one though.

As for tank superiority: oddly the map i usually end up playing is death valley. I get wrecked and hate the flag point.
Have played a little on alborez mtn, I get wrecked.
Bandaar works well with the mode.
I think armored shield does as well.
I may have played 10 total rounds of TS.

Rush: I have no idea.
I think we will see a rebalance in the next patch. Defenders need to either learn how to keep the gunship grounded or dice needs to give them better counter measures.

As for all the hate: haters gonna hate.
Ill say right now i hate alborez mountain. But iys because i get destroyed everytime i play there and just dont know how to play it yet. I think thats why most people are whining so much. Unfamiliarity.

If you like playing on the large maps and vehicle warfare, then you will enjoy Armored Kill. The Assault class is going to be marginalized in Conquest because of vehicle numbers and the near complete lack of ability to deal with vehicles; I have not played Rush yet, but I would imagine Assault is still going to be very useful in that setting. If you enjoy destroying vehicles and playing as an Engineer, then Armored Kill is for you, as there is more than ample opportunities to engage vehicles as infantry. There will be some opportunities for Support players using C4 to destroy vehicles. Recon players will be useful if they set SOFLAM up to deter enemy vehicles; if recon players are not using SOFLAM, then they are going to be pretty useless to a team.

Speaking of Recon, Drag's idea of a two man Recon team would probably work really well in Armored Kill. One of the Recon players would need to be using SOFLAM and the other MAV. The reason for the SOFLAM is pretty obvious; it makes the Engineer's job much easier to destroy vehicles and will benefit any vehicle driver using guided munitions. The idea with the MAV is to destroy enemy SOFLAMs and prevent them from utilizing SOFLAM for the benefit of their team, with the added ability to do some scouting before capturing a flag. Throw an Engineer and Support player in this squad and this squad could cause plenty of havoc. Constantly resupplied Engineer and Recon gadgets sounds awesome. The Support player would also be helpful in covering the squad's movements.

In Tank Superiority, the two man Recon team would work wonders. Destroying enemy SOFLAM can be tricky. With the MAV doing so, it is less tricky and much less risky. In the games I played of Tank Superiority last night, the other team was using at least three SOFLAM and it was wrecking the teams I was on. Throw in enemy vehicle laser designation and the team I was on, using one SOFLAM and no vehicle laser designation, was doomed virtually as soon as the match started.

Having good jet pilots is going to be very important. If the AC-130 is allowed to work unchecked, then it will rain down gloriously fiery and unholy death on anything and everything in the path of the gunship's weapons. Guided Shells in any vehicles, but especially tanks since a second person can do the designating, are going to be very useful if targets are designated often enough.

However, all of this above is my impression of Armored Kill after playing for a few hours. I do not know the maps and I was running or driving around like a chicken with it's head cut off. I was dealing with near constant death raining from seemingly every direction. It was fun. But it was also not because the teams I was on were not good and I was mostly having to fend for myself. The ATV was really fun to speed around on though! :dopey:

EDIT: Unrelated video to Armored Kill, but very cool.

This DLC is gonna be 10 times better on PC because its retarded with only 12 people on each team. not enough people to fill the vehicles and ptfo on the ground at the same time but should be good on PC cq large

I forgot to mention something cool/odd that happened to me yesterday. I was driving around on an ATV on Armored Shield catching some air off of the rolling hills when suddenly on one of my landings I got points awarded for three explosives destroyed and one kill (with the ATV shown in the feed). No idea how, because there were no 'booms' or 'bangs', and certainly no enemy lying around. Moments later I was awarded the trophy for getting a kill with the ATV.

Ideas?
