Between GOW3 sessions i've played a bit of BF and realized how some conquest matches are just base rape a thons. Good fun regardless. I do wonder though why people steal my vehicles when i'm at a perfect position to pick off dozens of enemies only to have them drive it right into a anti tank mine..

The drawbacks of playing with randoms, and the base raping in Conquest hasnt been much of a problem for me... probably because I dont spawn much on the bases if im in a squad.. :p I do agree that sometimes it does become ridiculous...

I went a little over board on the rage a couple days ago I admit.

Wow, I'm not sure if I rented the right game. I just tried to play this game, and it was way too dark to see anything! The first single player mission is rescuing a Japanese scientist defector, correct?

I tried the online player campaign and couldn't believe how terrible everything looked. Anybody else with a 1080p HD LCD set had problems with the graphics?

Movements were strobe-like, too. Sound was bad, graphics bad, controls bad and I'm not sure if this is the same game!

Must be your eyes. Just my guess. :D

What TV do you have?

Just interested.. Has anyone got this on PC? If you do feel free to add "Mad94d" to have a game. 👍

Had some awesome matches yesterday with Tommi and jswilli on Rush. We were up against stiff competition and we fought hard to try to win. We started out as defenders on the same level that was in the demo. The battle raged on until the last base where we managed to hold our ground and even win too our surprises! After that it was our turn to attack and this match must have lasted close to 30-45 minutes... We managed to cruise through the first few bases until we got to the last one where the defenders are on a high position. We tried just about everything to get to point B, managed to plant a couple of times but in the end we still lost that match :( All in all great fun! Can't wait to do it again! :D The scores on that last match were off the chart too... everybody on both teams had atleast 3000+ points and the top players were in the 6000+ points... So it was definitely an all out grudge match!

Having played in both SD and HD, I see no problems although the first mission was dark I could still see. I can see someone thinking the visuals were subpar initially because COD is much smoother and more polished to on the face but when you factor in the destructability and such you forgive it. That said, under no circumstance should the sound be bad, it's best in genre by a long shot.

If you go to the settings screen there are setting for putting the brightness and contrast at the right level. If you cant get it right with the ingame control settings you need to adjust it on your tv 'til its set right. Also for sound you should put it on the right setting since there are 3 different ones. I would nose around in the game settings before you play again :)

I have a 55" Sony Projection and at first it was really dark. Go to Options in game and adjust the brightness and contrast settings it will greatly improve your "Darkness" issue. As for the controls you can adjust these as well, I had changed some of the settings to Bad Company 1 to match the Battlefield 1943 control settings. The sound in my opinion is awesome, I have 5.1 using Bose, 10" sub, and a Buttkicker I use the War Tapes setting in the Audio options. Hope this helps? Keep in mind this game is in a native 720P format, I wish EA would render in full 1080P.

What TV do you have?

Sony Bravia Pro KDL46XBR2 1080p LCD HDTV set. All other games I've played on it look great or good. GOWIII demo looked gorgeous! MW2 looks fantastic compared to this game.

Well, I can't destroy anything if I can't see anything. I literally couldn't see 1 foot ahead of me. This was after turning up the brightness and contrast levels to max levels. I will never adjust my TV settings. I have calibrated them perfect for BDs, DirecTV and most other video games. If a game company can't make a game look good on my set, then screw'em. They're useless.

Did all that. Sound and brightness still sucked. Sound wasn't coming from the right channels with the correct balance. Left channel sounded muted all the time. Stereo mode cleared it up. NEVER had this problem with any other game. However, in MW2, choppers have the audio come out the wrong channel so it's hard to locate the choppers in the sky when using the audio only.

Did all that. Still was horrible.

I guess I'm just too picky. This game already went back. Thanks for the help, though.

Wow that's a first..never thought i'd here BFBC2 mentioned in the same sentence with the word horrible. Oh well, whatever tickles your pickle

I experimented with all the sets I have available, 1080P Samsung tv (not sure on model but a damn good one :lol), 720P Matsui, then an SD Samsung monitor and all of them worked just fine across the board. I've also used exterior speakers and a simple adjustment to the sound settings and I was done. I was using HDMI for the first 2, and a red/white/yellow for the other with no complaint to be made at all.

Also, don't talk to a youtube MW2 fanboy Havoc, or you'll hear that alot more .

Saw something very strange earlier tonight. Was sniping in the top floor of the building a few meters south of Alpha on Port Valdez. The opposing team was almost done (about 15 tickets left) when i was scoping out Bravo and spotting/killing anyone in my crosshair's when suddenly a guy on a quad rammed into bravo and that was it! "Mcomm bravo has been destroyed" I'm assuming a load of C4 was used so i wanted to give you guys a heads up. I've been in matches where Mcomm stations have been destroyed instanly, but i never witnessed it until now. Wierd..

I thought the game was horrible until I played the multiplayer. Now I have it's going to be the only game I've ever sold.

Bear in mind that in my third ever game of it I topped the score charts by more than twice the score of second, so it's not an issue of being crap at it, it's just abysmally disjointed, woefully weighted (the higher your level, the better able you are to kill in fewer hits and the more able you are to remain alive despite more hits), graphically dire, movement is choppy, creative jumping is invisiwalled into nothingness and the EA servers are utter, utter, utter crap.

The plus points are that it has tanks and some buildings fall down (though they look quite like the buildings that won't fall down).

Sorry Famine, dont agree with any of that... :) Graphically dire? Not to me... Havent had problems with EA servers, movement isnt choppy for me... Are you guys playing the same game? I do wonder though... did you play in a squad with people you know and mics? That just enhances the MP experience even more... :)

WOW!!!

Almost the total opposite of my thoughts on the game.

Personally after a week of playing BF:BC2 my copy of MW2 got part-exchanged.

While I would agree that the graphics are a step down from MW2 in most areas, that does have to be tempered to a degree by the sheer size of the maps (even the smallest is far, far bigger that anything MW2 has to offer).

Never had a single server issue and as far a unbalanced and dis-jointed goes, that simply makes me think of MW2. The perks and unlocks in MW2 give higher level players a much bigger advantage in my opinion and some of them cause such a huge balance issue its shocking (a brand new player in MW2 against someone with a heartbeat sensor is simply screwed).

As always a lot of these things are going to be down to individual preferences and experiences, and given that BF:BC2 wins out for me. I can more than live with the visuals, as the scale of the maps actually makes a sniper someone who can work at a distance and opens up a high range of tactical options, team work actually happens (a very rare thing in COD as a whole in my experience) and sound wise I would certainly give it the edge over MW2.

In terms of single player both games have story lines that are daft to the point of incredulity, so for me they get put on par in that regard.

As I say I part-exchanged my copy of MW2 as I simply stopped playing it after BF:BC2, as it gives me exactly what I think is missing from MW2.

Yup. Same people I always play online with, only they like BC2. Well, and one who doesn't.

In MW2 if a player stands facing another player, both with the same gun, they'll each take the same amount of shots before they die, regardless of whether they're 10th Prestige 70 or 1. Sure, there's perks which might lend gameplay advantages, and there's Stopping Power which might decrease an opponent's hardiness by a shot but, ultimately, if you aim at a dude he'll take the same number of shots to down as the next one and the one before him.

In BC2 I've lost count of the number of higher-ranking players I, at level 0 (huh?), 1 and 2 have put a sniper round into someone's head and not killed them. I knifed a guy, registering a hit and blood, and didn't kill him.

And that's where the balance isn't. Higher level players simply deal more damage with any given gun, and have more health, because they're higher level players. Though it has to be said that at least the damage is permanent rather than recoverable. Unless you have access to a medkit.

You know me, I love a good snipe. I'd find the maps a lot nicer if they weren't so immutable though. I'll never forget the first time I saw a guy on the roof at Overgrown in CoD4. Along with "How did he get up there, the cheating bastard!" there was "Woooooooooow.". No such joy in BC2 - anywhere that looks like you can jump to it has an inviswall just shy of it. I've not seen any creative sniping positions yet - just rooftops you get to up a ladder.

Heftily disagree on the sound front though. On MW2 you can hear a guy creeping up on you and know from which direction. BC2 is just noise. Also I haven't quite worked out why, in BC2, there's a sound effect like someone hitting a fresh coconut with a pool ball to signify a very close range explosion.

You mean "Russians are invading the US, only one brave squad can stop them. Electromagnetic whatnow?"... :D

As I say I part-exchanged my copy of MW2 as I simply stopped playing it after BF:BC2, as it gives me exactly what I think is missing from MW2.

After a week of trying to "get" BC2, we had a MW2 night. Apart from knifing every time I wanted to crouch, it was like being gently nuzzled by a warm milk kitten. People died when you shot them. Everyone on your team knew where the enemy were because you could tell them. I even enjoyed the 11 year old who couldn't add up and thought that if he TKed one of the five of us with very similar usernames and clan tags a couple of times, it'd make us upset and not, in any way, set up a 5-man rota to deny him any further gameplay time - and further thought that if he sent PSN messages saying "u suk ur mili" we'd not read them out and piss ourselves laughing.

Two of our party prefer BC2. Two prefer MW2. One's ambivalent.

MW2 has flaws. They're usually glitched weaponry or other players, hacking or shouting racial abuse. BC2 has flaws, but they're built into the game mechanics in some attempt to level the playing field artificially and just result in a horrible game and as more of the idiots from MW2 gravitate towards it, it'll have the other players hacking and shouting racial abuse (or having [IRA], [KKK] and [BNP] clan tags).

I've tried to love it, I really have. The same amount of love I've tried to give any £35 entertainment product. This is the first one I'll never, ever play again, and so the first one I'd consider selling. I even still own World at War...

In MW2 the sound is wayyyyy worse than in BFBC2 IMO. There's no echo and the guns sound like plastic toys for kids. I don't know about the directional audio thing, I only have stereo and in both games I usually do not know where someone is coming from based on sound, except if it is a tank or something. And the graphics in MW2 look weird, there is a haze over the whole game. It's like the contrast is put to 25%. I don't know why they did that. The graphics are crisper though in MW2, but within 10 steps you're at the other side of the map.

About the taking more shots thing, I don't know about that. There is a "perk" vest that lets you take more shots. If you can prove it one way or the other that'd be cool. I've knifed alot of high rank players and they all died instantly. Once, we knifed at exactly thesame time, killing both hehe.

I have to say I've come across neither of the problem you specifically mention.

From the very first match I've never had a knife kill be anything less that a one-hit kill. Same goes for a sniper rifle shot to the head.

My best shot so far was a counter-sniper shot in one of my early matches, right across the map. To the head one shot kill, my level was two at most and the other guy was in the mid-teens level wise.

Different flavours I guess comes into play here.

I love how the way the buildings change and the scale of the maps both open up different options in BC2. MW2 doesn't have the scale to put any sniper out of range of a reasonable shot with a Assault rifle with an ACOG fitted, hell a lot of the sniper rifles in MW2 are better off fitted with an ACOG due to the smaller scale. That lack of stand-off distance made sniping a chore for me in MW2, which I don't find the case in BC2.

What system are you running?

I only ask because I can quite easily do the same in BC2 myself, its saved me on quite a few occasions when capturing a base, etc.

That said I actually thing that direction sound placement was better in MW than MW2, then I could hunt a sniper simply by the sound of his gunfire.

It'd need some high ranking players, some low ranking players and exactly eight of them - because you can't have a private match with any fewer...

I've knifed alot of high rank players and they all died instantly. Once, we knifed at exactly thesame time, killing both hehe.

I imagine that was irksome

From the very first match I've never had a knife kill be anything less that a one-hit kill. Same goes for a sniper rifle shot to the head.

I suspected it might be an issue when I was playing the single-player on Hard. I noted that the Elite soldiers could survive the first headshot with some guns.

The knife crap surprised and annoyed me in equal measures. I nearly snapped my DS3 in half.

Brrrr. I can't use ACOG snipers in MW or MW2. It's like a wide-angle lens when all you want is a zoom (hopefully this doesn't give Alanis Morrissette any ideas).

MW2's problem isn't really small maps, but no gravity. An end-to-end sniper rifle shot on Wasteland is feasible. With an M1911 it isn't - but you can get the same accuracy with the same aim.

What system are you running?

Currently a pair of Yamaha MS-101s. Which are slight overkill for a 5sqm computer room. I can't put them any higher than "on" or the slates fall off the neighbour's roof.

That said I actually thing that direction sound placement was better in MW than MW2, then I could hunt a sniper simply by the sound of his gunfire.

Indeed. In BC2 you can only do it by dying a few times. If he doesn't move.

Which reminds me. At "some map with a river in it", there was one of our guys overlooking a flag capture point. He was utterly useless at providing sniper support or preventing the enemy taking it, but that's beside the current point. He was neck deep in the river on the opposite bank, shrouded by foliage.

And less than ten feet to his right were two enemies doing the same thing. And because this guy was on my team but not my squad, I couldn't tell him. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I highly doubt high rank = more health or anything like that. I to have got one shot kills with a sniper rifle from day 1 against players of rank 20 and above as a rank 1 or 2. As stated there are specialisations which can increase health and bullet damage, but a headshot with a sniper rifle will always kill in one with say the M24, the first sniper rifle. Similarly if my knife connects I get the kill first time every time. Similarly neither of these specs are as powerful as the COD versions of the same thing and you don't see them all to often as they require sacrificing something useful but they are still quite common.

I have no idea how or why you're experiencing otherwise, as a high 20s rank now I'm not killing people any faster bullet for bullet then I was previously. There is certainly advantages to be had by being ranked up (well more so with unlocking kit gear) and they do cause a bigger gap then MW2 does initially but you close that gap quicker timewise, 10,000 for a class usually brings you up to speed enough to match most anyone.

For example gun wise, the XM8 is near top dog for assault and is the first weapon you unlock, same goes for the SCAR and engineer, the M24 for Recon you begin with and only minorly worse then the M95. The Medic is perhaps the one you need to wait longest for a really good weapon with, the M60, the others are ok but the M60 is best and takes a little work. The most useful stuff is unlocked very early in each class, but doesn't help kill another infantry, ammo box, health box etc.

I don't. I've watched and seen it happen. Non-hardcore killcams (well... post-killcams) include your killer's current setup including health.

Most of the time, yes. But I've experience this several times now and, as in the single player campaign on hard, they're definitely headshots and they definitely didn't kill.

Similarly if my knife connects I get the kill first time every time.

I've only seen this once, but nevertheless it happened right in front of my eyes. Literally. Stab, hit marker, blood, bang bang bang, what the hell?

Speaking of unlocks, I don't quite get why you have to unlock a specialist's special equipment...

I do pay attention to the %, particularly if I die trying to down them and it's generally reasonably consistent, sometimes I believe magic bullets rears its ugly head but you have to be on the ball to see it happen as the killcams don't make it COD obvious.

I believe headshots with weapons outside of sniper rifles may be dodgy, but no more so then COD, a sniper rifle on single player on hard to the head has always served me well against any enemy, mostly body shots get it done even. Though I've not gone to any length to test that in single player. Perhaps a poor connection somewhere is causing the headshots to not register as headshots online, with bullet drop they might miscalculate slightly with a bit of lag magic and be hitting say the neck or something.

I can be reasonably sure that the high % health after a guy kills you despite you giving them so trouble is down to a bit of magic bullets though, I don't get it often personally.

I had this happen to me a couples of times in the beginning when I started out.... Stab, hear the sound that you connect, hit marker, blood... but I'm dead... I found out later (I think atleast) that those times that happend I was standing a little bit to far away. Whenever I want to knife now I make sure Im as close as possible (preferably right next to them :)) and now I dare to say I never miss. One slash kills all over :p

Anyway... everyone has their own tastes :) MW2 and BC2 are both good games, it's just that imo BC2 has more to offer for my tastes. MW2 for me is a game of reaction time. The person with the fastest Cat-like reflexes and hand eye coordination will come out on top. The pace is a bit too fast in my opinion and after a round of MW2 im completely stressed and on edge, because you constantly on the look out... In BC2 I can devise a strategy based on what I see around me and then put it in to action. Sometimes its successful, sometimes not... The maps also give you more freedom to use tactics like flanking and coming from behind than MW2 does... MW2 the paths of traffic are known to people who play a lot and this makes it easy to get kills since you know where to go or where to stand... I think the best example of this is on Skidrow... That hallway going from one side to the other...

wait, can so if i knifed someone already and become there friend i can eventually get that one trophy?

oh and looking forward to rush on that jungle map :D

Or join a private match on Hardcore mode with some buddies and team kill each other until you have the trophy :) Or does your friend have to be on the other team?

that's what i've always wondered. i don't think you get a dog tag for being on the same team. i've only knifed 2 friend of mine but thats cause the other team was full and i was forced to play on the other side.

Im not sure either... havent knifed anyone on my friends list yet or in hardcore on my own team :p

what name do you play bf under? ill add you and maybe we'll meet and knife each other at random one day lol.

on a sidenote. i'm starting to like squad deathmatch as long as theres enough people to keep things close.

funny thing the other night, playing in hardcore rush. friend of mine shoots down a chopper, AWESOME... till it landed on me and killed me when i was behind a crate i was watching lol
