I like playing everything except Recon... At the moment Im playing a lot of Assault because Im in love with the M16A2.... :D

I think my favorite is Assault. My M416 is by far my favorite, and paired with grenade/shotgun/smoke is a lot of fun. Second would probably be Medic, but mostly because of such long 'clips' for mowing tons of people over. I can't even use the red dot anymore, strictly 4x on everything (except for engineer for more explosive power/extra explosives)

Recon is by far my least favorite since I absolutely loathe snipers. But getting the kit to pick off the pesky snipers is always fun

Could not have said it better myself! I too despise Recon but a Mortar Strike here or there always hurts something or someone!👍

No love for recon here, huh? Ok, fine. I will give you the fact that many people playing recon contribute nothing to the game other than to make it a pain in the a**. then again you shouldn't be standing out in the open, completely exposed without checking the fire points first. Snipers and recon are battlefield realities.

A well played recon is worth two or three times other classes. Especially in a good squad.

I only play recon and proud of it. I figure when I get to level 20 only on recon points I'll give another class a try.

It's this damn medics that you gotta watchbout for. The biggest guns on the map with paddles that kill.

HOLY ****. How are you not bored with Recon? The only time I play it is when almost the whole other team is recon and then after I eliminate them I move up and camp them until they change class. I agree with your points on medic... sort of. I was rank 30 and had a medic score of 0 so I decided to max that out too. I fell in love with the Type 88 and used it until I got the MG3. I couldn't use the M60 because I know the pain of walking around a corner or something and being one-shotted. I have since not used medic, and have had fun using the AEK with SMoke. Believe it or not I've gotten 13 "hate" messages with that combo.

"WTF WHY R U USING AEK AND SMK? IT SUCK SO BAD YOU R GAY"

Finally someone who understands I stand by the Type 88. I never really got into the M60, i've killed with it but i do feel like it's a bit much. The 88 has very little recoil compared to the other Mg's and honestly i'll take accuracy above power anyday.. Great gun :)

I both agree and disagree, a well played Recon is not worth 2 or 3 times another well played class on balance. It's all about the mix, in a 12 V 12 having 2-3 Recons is perfectly fine and they are often effective and useful. That said in certain situations of course they can be worth alot, but in certain situations they can be rendered completely mute which is true for all classes.

Isla Innocente is a perfect example of it, on the first base the sniper on attack is useful if there's not many, but on the second base once you actually get to the objectives they're pointless as you don't get a particularly good sight on the defenders as they attempt to defuse, yes the mortar is good here but you only effectively get one shot with it.

It's all in the balance, you NEED a bit of everything to do well, sometimes you need a little more of one class, sometimes another but in the end no one class is particularly dominant. That said, I don't think you're in a position to claim Recon is so valuable when you don't play the other ones. The best way to know the true ability of any class, is simply to experience it first hand. That's why I went out and maxed the lot of them one by one without swapping to others until the class is finished, in order to allow me to change class as the game changes and have every bit of kit available to me. One class may well be dominant in a certain map or area, but one individual who has the option to swap to any class with all the gear at hand and know what to do with them is worth so much more. You can still specialise in one class, but just taking the time to unlock the other classes gear and find out what works best is definately a valuable asset.

I specialise as Assault and I also dabble with Recon at the moment if I see that there's not already a couple on my team. I'll also only usually Recon if I am communicating with a squad I know so I don't rely on spotting to get the job done though I always continue to do so. That said without meaning to blow my own trumpet, I am a good offensive player so I play to my strengths to help my team out because I'll just go out there and get it done to the best of my ability. Sometimes I seem a little slow and over cautious but only because I know how valuable each life can be and simply being alive helps ALOT if squad spawns are used correctly, I'm happy to lead my squad or team from the frontline, but not on my own.

My biggest gripe about Recon is when playing Rush or Conquest mode and over half your team is Recon camping out in the hills not assisting in the capture of flags or destruction of M-Con stations. I too have unlocked and maxed out everything on each kit and it just depends on the situation and map which kit I will play with. When I maxed out Recon, I played with the G3 and ran the map mostly and didn't really snipe that much. I personally don't like "Sitting" around waiting to shoot someone. My biggest satisfaction after getting taken out by a sniper is to get me a new set of tags, particularly silver ones. It cracks me up that most people who play recon stay in the exact same spot (Ok when playing Hardcore), after the kill cam is done its time to go snipe hunting:cheers:

I use Recon for the following scenarios: Attacking on the first 4 Mcomm stations on Isla Inocentes and defending the first 2. Nelson Bay Attacking first 4, but with the SVU or Type 88 with 4x scope + mortar strikes.

The rest of the time i dabble between the other classes but usually find my way to Assault or the Engineer with the deadly G3 :) Recon has it's uses but to see a team of 12 with 8 snipers is not uncommon unfortunatley.

Speaking of the G3 found this vid. The sounds in BC2 are pretty good in comparison! This gun does look like it kicks pretty hard though..

Good points all on recon. I should say I've been primarily playing squad deathmatches online. Usually the random squads you get suck and recon is the best bet. Though with myself and say a good engineer we can do well together. Once in a while I'll play conquest but the ticket bleed is a bit of a bummer there. When everyone is recon or assault in those games it really is a grind.

As for being bored... Never. I suppose I enjoy the camping and spoting aspects. Along with the stealth needed in some maps.

yup... Sniper or engineer hunting post kill cam is great. I
for the life of me I dint know why more recon don't move around. You maximize your effect that way.

Not sure if anyone can explain this but I was in the gunner seat of a tank and someone blew it up with an RPG. Apparently I commited suicide? :S

I imagine it's one of the games many bugs, ive had all sorts of weird deaths:
I've supposedly been killed by someone when I actually commited suicide, knifed by snipers who are hiding miles away from me that clearly shot me in the head and had my tank destroyed by driving over small walls, rocks, and even bushes(on more than one occasion).:odd:

The bushes in Africa seems especially dangerous to tanks.

Any stairs or drop in Panama seems dangerous to people.

Must be a bug.

This game is crap. It seems like every time I kill someone some Dbag comes up kills me and magically revives his buddy. If its not that its getting killed by someone I've just killed right after I've killed them. How do you kill someone when you have 0% health? The spawns are also garbage. I was on a team that was so crap earlier even though we were attacking we were getting spawn killed. How the hell does that happen? No one ever tanks out enemy vehicles. And how hard did they have to make it to win a game? You have to destroy everything where as the defenders only have to camp the last objective and then wham they win.

Your venting. Let it out. It's natural :D

You should be playing with a good group of guys. This game is best played with a few buddies :)

I had a fantastic time the first time I played it. Tonight was absolute crap though.

You've obviously not played this game with 3 of your mates in a squad of 4, headsets and the same mindset... I agree playing with randoms is not always great and mostly crap, but I think you'll change your view once youve played with some GTP guys or some of your friends.... If youre use to MW2 or something like that this game is played totally differently. Throw those tatics out the window and give it some time to get use to it. I highly advise joining some people from here on a squad and then see how things turn out...

This game has the same issues has cod. BF games should not have weapon/kit customization. I even see people running around with rocket launchers. Its stupid. I was using my mic last night and the only thing anyone said all night was this guy asking me what I was doing yelling out everything I saw like tanks and what not.

Mentioning revival, I HATE it when a Medic revives you when you're in a tight suituation, because you die again within a couple of seconds. I wouldn't mind it if it removed your death on the leaderboard, but every time you die again it adds another death. And sometimes I REALLY do need to die because I've ran out of ammo and there's no assult rifle guys around to get some more. They're mostly snipers and medics...

Each kit has its own weapons... If youre an engineer you have a rocket launcher, yes... And you can also use all the shotguns with all kits inplace of your primary... If you really look into it you will see its pretty balanced and how people use the different kits affects the game... Again I recommend going online with people from here or friends of yours if they have it... If you work closely with varied kits and as a team, its a joy to play and rewarding.

Yup, and I have to admit Ive made this same mistake in the past as well... reviving in the middle of a fire fight... I've learned from my mistakes though and clear out all enemies first, or try too and then start reviving people... but everyone doesnt think like that unfortunately...

Anyway this game is based around team work and if youre not in a squad with people you know it can be horrible, I agree... I usually just choose Recon if im alone and not in a squad and just hang back as a loner picking off enemies one by one and mortar strikes to back up the team ;)

The most infuriating part of the game, medics who don't clear an area before reviving you.

Hahaha I love doing this, not going to lie it makes me laugh a lot. Can get a good battle going on to stay alive when the other bloke is a medic as well...:D

I suggest you adopt my tactic, play BF when you have a friend to play with or more, play COD when you're alone. It's the best way to enjoy Bad Company 2, we often have more then a full squad of GTPers each night at the moment, and you can actually play across oceans unlike MW2 so there's no problem hooking up from all over the world.

The only thing I'd say is that some GTPers don't have/use a headset, I usually join Blitz deliberately if possible for that reason, we'll both use our headsets 95% of the time. Others also do, Cale for example, but Cale plays alot of Hardcore which I don't particularly enjoy (for Conquest it's alright though but I still prefer normal). It's just so much more enjoyable with somebody to talk to, just saying what you see is a big advantage and it's just more immersive when you're communicating.

Even without headsets, create a text chat for your squad, I keep making one when there's a big group of GTPers, it means you can get the right balance of different players, engineers, medics etc. Then you're never worried so much about any one particular problem, someone has the kit to deal with it most of the time.

Recommended Squad:
1 or 2 Assault
1 or 2 Engineer
1 Medic (consider 2 if low on tickets and NEVER have the Medic use a UAV, make sure they're up front saving those tickets)
1 or 0 Recon, there's plenty out there most of the time but you don't want 2 in a squad of 4, wasted opportunity. 2 snipers are better off in a squad of 2 to make better use of squad spawns.

Quick tip, if there's 1 Medic and they die, pick up their kit and revive them and swap roles (if it's safe!). Saves another ticket and gets some more points, I believe points continue to accumulate for the class you started with also.

It's also worth noting, it's easy to say defenders just camp, and you're right, but if someone camps in a place to long you blow a huge hole in the building they're in. Camping isn't frowned upon like COD, in COD the maps are very narrow and have lots of easy chokes to get easy kills and then reap the rewards of air support. In BC2 camping isn't anywhere near as effective because it's very very rare that there's a spot which you can't be killed from in some way. I've always been one who doesn't understand the big deal with camping, ok sure a guy sitting in a corner for ages is just bull, and holding a pointless position or spawn camping, but alot of people think staying in one place/area is just plain bull when it's a perfectly viable tactic and if it's still a good area to hold and nobodies stopping them, more power to them for doing a good job. There are 2 kinds of camping, good camping and bad camping, even on COD I am happy to sit in one area if I think it holds strategic value with good sight lines on key areas, you'll be familiar TA with my style of camping from some NGT MW2 videos.

As a Medic you have a very short amount of time to revive a team mate.I agree its best to try and take out the enemy around the team member laying on the ground and then help him.The team get a ticket back for every member a medic revives plus it helps the team push forward from the same point, theres nothing worse than having most of the team respawn back at base.I help the team most by being a medic and as Blitz187 says it is such a good game when in a team of mates from GTP or your friends list:)

I actually don't play the game alone at all, I love this game but teamwork is so much fun that playing alone is just so poor in comparison.

Agreed 100%... if I dont see any of you online or I cant join the server for whatever reason I'll just jump into a game as Recon and hang back, annoying the enemy with mortar strikes and sniper rounds :D

I used to be guilty of that as well, it's probably why there's so many Recons about sometimes, all loners looking for a good KDR and such.

I had a fantastic time the first time I played it. Tonight was absolute crap though.
Don't feel bad I had a day of crap with this game too! I played some matches with the guys from this forum but could not get into a squad so I was by myself which was utterly suicide while playing rush. I finally got some mates but they were all Recon which was useless in Rush. Secondly what rank are you at? Honestly until you get some of the items unlocked in a particular kit each kit is weak. I have noticed when taking on group of people it seems that their "Hit" points go up and makes them more difficult to kill while they are together hence the Teamwork aspect of the game. If you want to give it another shot send me a friends invite, Normally my wife and I are on playing BF2 and we both use headsets. Playing a match with 7+ GTP'rs is truly an awesome experience. Mr_Geez, Fairplay, and Theewar are quite a squad when they play together, I have paired with them several times in the past few weeks and have met their wrath from the other side as well.👍

I only played on Presa Rush before heading off BC2 for the night, managed to top the team on the full game of Attack even though we lost, it was single handedly our squad on the ridge on the first base which managed to let us get through there though, was pretty darn awesome if I may so.

👍 to you js for joining the text chat marked KDT, join it anytime I'm online and there's like a 99% chance I'm in there (I join it whenever I sign in regardless of game) if you need an extra squad member. I did have a GTP BC2 chat on the go but everytime I join nobody is in it so I gave up joining whereas there's a couple of guys who will join that other chat (non GTPers) whenever they get online so I have people to talk to, it's been going since last year .
