Du to all the possible crash stuff I decided long time ago already not to do endurance races until a save in between is possible...
 
good thing about getting a reball by a reputable source will be the leaded solder which will outlast the ps3...unleaded solder is why this is happening in the first place, a bad way for sony to save money tbh....if u send it back to sony they will just give u another board with the same cheap solder so it can happen

This has nothing to do with Sony 'saving money.' Sony put unleaded solder in the PS3 because it is the LAW. The PS3 is considered a toy and by that standard you aren't allowed to put lead in a toy.
 
My Phat 60GB PS3 died three weeks ago in the middle of a B-Spec Endurance. Reballing it didnt fix the problem and it also wiped all data from the HDD. I have my PS3 game save backed up so I wont be losing anything. I will be buying a slim PS3 as soon as I can.

Anyway I was having freezing issues too. What it turned out to be for me was the game couldnt connect to the PD servers and it froze in a few different places including after races. When I disabled the PS3 internet the game never froze.
 
I thought that it might be the hdd so I swapped in a brand new one. Downloaded the update and did a fresh install. Gt froze again about 30% in. :(
 
well, i opened up my PS3,
redid the paste on the heatsink with AS5, cut a hole in the bottom and cleaned the lens...it still gives the same error, it runs a whole race then, cannot load the finish screen (the car keeps running at 80Km/H)
gonna try and replace the BR-drive next, after that it is goodbye FAt hello slim for me......:grumpy:

i am 100% thats this error has nothing to do with the PS3, is strictly a software issue.

not so sure, this 'bug'has made GT5 unplayable for me, I can't get an exitscreen after running a race, or even hotlapping.
also on testing today, I noticed the BR-drive started to 'hunt' about halfway through a B-spec race.

could this be the BR burnup bug some have had?
