I completely understand, I have a youtube vid of me round Bathurst, did very little wrong but ended up punted off turn 1 lap 1 from second to last, then all hell broke loose. I got back to 14th, came up on a pile up and a car was rejoining, I went the other way to get into the growing gap, the car hit another car and bounced in-front of me, *smash*. Then I was hit from behind immediately, *smash* I was nearly last again after serving my 20 second penalty. Then the car in last came past while my car was broken and I was serving the pen, touched the grass, span in-front, touched my car, hit the wall, *another 10 seconds ontop of the already huge penalty*. This nonsense continued the whole race, SR went from S to B.
I have noticed a few crashed recently where the person causing the crash doesn't get penalised and the innocent party does. I must admit I cause one myself outbraking myself and couldn't avoid them despite trying. Managed to reduce it to a slight nudge but sent them wide and no pen for me. I let them past me at the next corner but didnt need to. It looks to me like most penalties go to cars on the outside at corners even if someone bombs up the inside of them with no way of stopping.

And this is possibly how all the idiots with S ranks appear in the FIA races. There is too many players driving unfair and pushing others out of every corner. I think if you do this a lot you find the way how to work around penaltys and still use it effectively.
